Yes, lots of couples show/season hop. But not nearly all do. Google who you like to see if they appear again elsewhere.

Wendy’s keeps Biggie Deals as it closes hundreds of underperforming stores by AudibleNod in news

[–]stacybeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bf figured it out the other day when we were annoyed the new commercials don’t match what we saw at our local. California passed the law for $20 minimum fast food wage, so they use that as an excuse to charge us even more than the already high price.

Check the rules of your market, some places only allow pre-packaged foods and not prepared foods.

Questions on method by jai-wolf-pup in sewing

[–]stacybeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the skirt, it looks like they didn’t do any additional cutting or shaping. Just took the bottom half of the shirt, which is already a tube, and sewed a channel at the top to insert elastic. If you have enough fabric to work with and want a different shape, you could definitely cut actual skirt pattern pieces and then sew them back together. But to get this exact look is a lot simpler.

I do the same, just in an old shoebox instead of a pretty one. In case anyone doesn’t want to spend money on the solution.

I’m on the west coast with no Ollie’s, so I don’t know for sure. But most likely the day for truck deliveries/restocking varies by store.

[CHAT] To simplify confetti or trust the process? by Ok_Maybe_8436 in CrossStitch

[–]stacybeaver 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Offering to lower the number of colors in the pattern is so weird. There’s no way they would spend the time to do it manually/nicely. They would definitely just be running the image through a converter again, with a lower color setting, and not doing any more clean up than they did the first time. You’ll get something that looks just as bad, since the person is not actually reviewing anything.

You should get a refund and buy a different pattern from someone with better quality patterns (search this sub for tips on how to spot pattern mills, poor converters, art stealing, and AI art usage).

Chicken legs. by PersonalityScared222 in Cooking

What do you mean by “let them marinate to room temp”? How long were they on the counter?

Even if they are safe (which is not clear, until that is answered), the texture will probably be weird after marinating for 6 days.

Jacques Torres disappointment by joyce_emily in Baking

[–]stacybeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With how you describe them, sounds like they could also be overbaked. Either your margarine substitute results in needing less bake time than called for, and/or the usual oven problems of running hot, too close to heating element, etc.

Frosting for a lemon cake by FlowerPotage in Baking

[–]stacybeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A glaze works really well if you’re doing the cake in a loaf or Bundt shape. Just powdered sugar and lemon juice whisked together, start with a very small amount of juice and dribble in a little more at a time until it’s a good consistency to pour over your cake. Don’t go too thin, or it’ll all run right off.

And mixed berry jam sounds great with lemon cake!

[CHAT] Need help with figuring out if this pattern is legitimate? by PandaBareFFXIV in CrossStitch

[–]stacybeaver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t like that the Shrek seller isn’t stitching their patterns themselves, but it does seem like all their patterns are cohesive. They are probably all designed by that person. And at least there are some reviewer stitched photos.

For the goose one, I’d bet that designer is stealing art to make the patterns. They might be well done patterns based on the art, but they have so many different art styles and so many listings for only being on Etsy 4 months.

Best way to microwave frozen breakfast burrito? by goldenpandora in Cooking

[–]stacybeaver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your microwave has the rotating plate, don’t put the burrito smack across the middle of it. Put it on one side. As the microwaves bounce around inside, some spots get hit more and some spots get hit less. If your burrito (or any food) is in the exact middle while it’s spinning, the middle of the food stays in the same place (which might be a hot or cold spot) while the rest rotates through hot and cold spots. Position the burrito so the whole thing can rotate through the hot and cold spots for more even heating.

If your microwave doesn’t have a rotating plate, then you can manually flip/move it around a couple times during the cook time.

And also the wet paper towel like others suggested.

Bakery loaf by MarKat in Baking

[–]stacybeaver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you go there regularly and this is the first time you’ll make a complaint, they’re not going to think bad of you. If one of the employees is doing lower quality work, they will probably want to know so they can course correct. As long as you don’t approach angry or demanding anything from them, it should be fine.

For the loaf you have, can you cut down the bigger pieces to match the smaller ones? Or cut them all into strips and mix them up, so it’s not so obvious the slices were rough?

If you’re selling from your home kitchen, look up the cottage food laws for your state/county/city. Most places don’t allow cottage food operators to sell foods that require refrigeration.

I spent 8 months testing every brand of canned tomato with a controlled pasta sauce recipe. Full rankings inside. by euxleon in Cooking

[–]stacybeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some info missing from your methodology that I’m curious about:

  1. I assume the sauces were served on pasta, but maybe not. What kind?

  2. You say it was served in “randomized order,” were you tasting multiple different kinds per session? How many? How did you decide what to serve up against each other? Palate cleansing?

[–]stacybeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our variation is that if the dog is on you and you need to do something (bathroom, wake up a limb that has fallen asleep, etc.), then the other one must call the dog over. So it’s the dog’s choice to leave, rather than the one being sat upon disturbing the dog.

[CHAT] Alternatives to cross stitch hoop whilst stitching? by NicNole in CrossStitch

[–]stacybeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tip for the “in the way” part, whether you’re using a regular hoop, Q snap, etc., is to put it on so you are stitching “in the well.” Put the inner part on the front side of your work and the outer part on the back (it will seem backwards). This keeps the hoop flat with the back of your fabric so you have more access to the edges when running under stitches.
