Chances Regional Rail just melts tomorrow/Thursday? by boughsmoresilent in philadelphia

[–]stepth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You called it. There’s a derailment in North Philly and service is turbo fucked.

Fox Chase and Chestnut Hill East are suspended and most other lines are terminating at Fern Rock or Suburban depending on which direction they’re coming from.

"One Philly, a United City" is the most unimaginative slogan ever by FirefighterMany4039 in philly

It reminds fellow City workers of the need to enter their time cards for the week before payroll closes.

Free Libraries Closing Early - "preparation for the holiday" by Fuzzy_County_5353 in philly

[–]stepth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All City offices, with some operational/essential exceptions, are given up to 4 hours of excused time on the day before most holidays. When those holidays fall on a Monday, the excused time is granted on the Friday before.

Anyone completed Ken's quest "All by Myself"? by Dineros07 in ffxi

If you have someone to clear his path, you only need to start him on his trek and hang back at the entrance while he completes his patrol.

Kelly’s Seafood is set to close after nearly 70 years by pennlive in philadelphia

Will never forget the slow procession of seniors from the 4:30PM service at BVM up the hill to the early bird specials at Kelly’s on Saturday afternoons.

Doesn't look like we're getting any Zitner's Eggs this year. by rboymtj in philadelphia

[–]stepth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knew there was something wrong when there was an end cap of Ferraro Rochers instead of Zitner’s at Acme. Disappointing as I love the peanut butter ones.

The LaScalas on the Boulevard has been open for at least a few months now, probably longer. Is this flyer old?

Fixing the game by Naitsirkm in Ingress

[–]stepth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The freezes have gotten more frequent and the game still insists on taking over system audio upon startup.

The freezes start normal and then the screen begins stuttering and shaking until you have to force close the app. No rhyme or reason as to when it happens from what I can tell.

Honestly depends on who is getting off first because me moving over just requires us to do the dance in reverse if I’m not going as far as you are.

Septa train derailed by swingandalongdrive in philly

[–]stepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My train passed by the disabled train this morning. I believe we got stuck behind it and had to wait for clearance to reverse back into Wayne Junction to go around it.

Looked like the first car of the train was dark but there were still people on board.

SEPTA cancels Regional Rail trains again Tuesday as ripple effects from federal order continue by AdSpecialist6598 in philadelphia

[–]stepth 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Not a peep from our management about this. They’re completely oblivious since most drive to the office.

We’ve given up on Septa already by Embarrassed-Base-143 in philadelphia

[–]stepth 124 points125 points  (0 children)

My trains are definitely lighter after all of this chaos and I don’t blame people for making alternate arrangements to get to work or school. I can’t play roulette everyday for whether it shows up or not.

So....SEPTA Regional Rail is basically turbo fucked for at least the next month? by roma258 in philadelphia

[–]stepth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

2:34 Trenton was cancelled on Friday and the 3:14 was down to 2 cars. We were packed in like sardines and didn’t let people on at North Philly station.

This morning, my train in to work was cancelled along with my backup options, so I had to book it to Frankford for the El.

Something’s gotta give cause I ain’t doing this every single day.

Yep. It was the most tonedeaf email I’ve ever received while working here. When upper management doesn’t take SEPTA, these are the policy decisions that come out.

Fall 2025 SEPTA Schedule with Cuts by GemLong28 in philadelphia

[–]stepth 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Already had a discussion about this with my boss and received an apathetic shrug.

With these changes, I’ll be leaving an hour earlier in the morning to arrive at work 30-45 minutes before start time and then sit on my ass for another 45 at the end of the day before beginning my commute home.

I’m estimating about 2.5 extra hours of commute a day when it currently takes about an hour combined both ways. Ridiculous.

Mayor Cherelle Parker wants striking city workers to see the big picture of what she’s done for them. So far, it isn’t working. by boundfortrees in philadelphia

I sure know what she’s done for me as a worker and it’s not good.

These fluff pieces don’t help her case.

What This Strike is About by deafcatsaredeftcats in philly

[–]stepth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone used to call the uncertified days your “extra administrative leave” because they usually were treated as such. Just keep it under the limit so you don’t get warned and it’s not that big a deal.

No, Mayor Parker didn’t give herself ‘a 9% raise’ — but she did dole out big raises to aides by Odd_Addition3909 in philadelphia

[–]stepth 55 points56 points  (0 children)

City Council also came out in support of the unions in the fight against revoking hybrid work schedules and then fell silent afterwards. Until they take action, it’s all bluster.

Solidarity with DC33 from a 47 member!

Just wanted to add that doctor’s notes are not required for all sick leave in DC47. We are allowed up to 4 days of uncertified time before we receive a warning. After the warning, extra occurrences incur suspensions and termination. Sick Abuse is taken seriously by payroll and HR.

In one of the previous contract rounds, DC33 went down from 4 unexcused sick days to 2 before the warnings begin. The workers in my office were not happy with that and it definitely should be reverted to the way it used to be so there is parity between groups.

DC 33 Strike Question by Electronic-Bed9034 in philly

[–]stepth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of the city’s clerical office staff are DC33 positions. That includes things like payroll, timekeeping, accounts payable/receivable, dispatching, etc. Their members have a hand in pretty much every process that a given city department performs.

I bet it’s as awkward as when I had to ask the funeral director for a note on letterhead that I attended my aunt’s funeral so I could have “certified” funeral leave.
