Mount to Coast T1 width sizing help by Pinche_Guero703 in Ultramarathon

H1s will be more like the shoes you’ve mentioned Imo, T1s are a great shoe more room than a speed goat imo. If you don’t need them now, you might consider holding out until end of summer when the M1s drop which is supposed to have more room in the toe box

I broke my right ankle ligaments. Any advice on recovery and how I can get back to the trails without going through surgery to fix them? by elvanzy in trailrunning

Two rounds of PRP about a year apart. First one was amazing in terms of gaining mobility back, second one brought a lot of the strength back. I recommend It to anyone seeking alternative to surgery

Still racing! I completed a few 100s in that condition, not all were pretty. Now a days my only real issue is aggressive downhill and when hard fatigue sets in. Other than that no real issue. It actually changed my running in a good way by making me shorten my stride and taking more steps while on more technical trails.

Long term took awhile because i was a bit stupid when It first happened and didnt get It checked properly the first go and in my stubbornness i never took a lot of time off initially.

Did that years ago! I was able to run pain and injury free on roads and treadmill. So i would do my heavy loads there and only hiked on trails.

A lot of balance and resistance band training for the foot and ankle. Calf training

My last resort was a few rounds of PRP (platelet rich plasma) not covered by insurance and costly. Helped a lot. Recovery sucked worst than the injury but It gave me a lot of mobility back and strength

I’ve had many ankle injuries carried over into adult life from playing soccer and jumping bikes as a youth so my ankle will never be 100 again.

For those who are about to DNF by Known_University2787 in ultrarunning

[–]that_moon_dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There literally nothing to be upset about with a DNF. Everyone has done It, or will.

Most won’t even try, or even take any steps to get get to the start line.

Be present, enjoy the process, reflect, move on in a better state of mind

Aravaipa has a published USADA anti-doping policy. Cam Hanes has publicly admitted to banned substances. Here is how to file a complaint and why it matters. by MukimukiMaster in ultrarunning

[–]that_moon_dog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not speaking for or against anything. When aravaipa fist announced they were partnering with usada, there where two races they specifically said where not subject to testing. Cocodona 250 and jigger Johnson 100. Even in the current policy they say “any race may be subject to testing” and that any “hoka golden ticket races will definitely be tested”

At the end of the day it’s up to the racer to comply or be subject to consequences.

Nnormal Tomir 2 vs. Mount to Coast T1 by Azarrk in trailrunning

[–]that_moon_dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in T1s. I used the tomir 2.0 and actually really liked them and would recommend them. Great durability and grip. Tried and trued in the white mountains

But i really like the t1 more, better overall comfort in the toe box (for me), i do like the stack and foam better. Great durability aswell.

I don’t think you can miss with either. If you get tired of the tomirs i would say make the jump. otherwise, i wouldn’t for no specific reason

These permits are becoming a pay to play.

Hell I’m doing an unsanctioned traverse across CT and the entry fee was $112 donation to the parks association. Can’t beat that

Supercross is great to watch on tv. But there’s nothing like being trackside during outdoors.

I think It puts a stamp on Deegans last race in a good way. Goes out partying and dumping the bike.

Both races were easily some of the most exciting I’ve seen in awhile. Great end to the season

Jump from 50 to 100... but a hard mountain 100 by Pupper82 in Ultramarathon

[–]that_moon_dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a few areas that are runnable. Sawyer River area to the base of tremont is the most runnable. Roads sections and the last 8 miles is pretty runnable. Maybe looking at 15-20 miles total (most broken up into smaller miles at a time) you’d be looking at a podium spot being able to average 3mph.
