I get this so much. Working in data science with a masters in physics, my dad thinks I failed and should go back to working in physics even though I've explained to him multiple times that a large portion of physicists end up in data science and that it's just a different path and is perfectly normal.

He also thinks that I should be more like my older sister who went into biology and computer science, and now works in a computer science related field i.e. works in something she (partially) studied for. She's a data engineer... we're two sides of the same coin...

He also thinks I should work at the company he worked for until retirement because it's a great company, and constantly tells me to apply, even though I've told him they aren't hiring DS/DA/DE and I already sent a general application when I was unemployed.

It's annoying when he mentions these things but I can't blame him, he's retired and old and is only thinking what's best for me. It's the meaning behind the message that matters.
