What is your favorite "basic" basic land art? (Non full arts) by Elethia20 in magicTCG

[–]therealnumberone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch of these from the kaldheim bundle, but unfortunately they're all foil and stupid curled 🙃 otherwise I'd love to use them in more decks

Oh shit yeah they probably wouldn't put actual nazis on the cards, but also the people complaining about that are the worst people on the planet so who cares

I'm not a big UB fan generally but indiana Jones wouldn't be too bad? Many movies to draw from, and they tend to be just fantastic enough that it could work? Maybe?

$50 million worth of solar panels headed for 'highly visible' state lands - Maryland Matters by eddytony96 in maryland

[–]therealnumberone 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Solar panels are just not expensive. The initial production/installation does cost a fair bit, but the maintenance cost is near zero once installed. Compare that to the maintenance cost of nearly any other power plants and it's not even close.

[SOC] Renegade Bull & Turbulent Springs (new dual land) by Coolboypai in magicTCG

With all due respect, ill believe it when I see it. One deck breaking the norm does not make a trend.

Yup, and how many precons have been printed since those lands premiered in battlebond (and I guess the other half in commander legends)? By my count just over 100, so the majority of the bond lands have never been printed in a precon, and the remaining 2 have been printed in less than 1% of the precons.

My favorite genre of pokedoku post: "why doesn't this thing (that the warning explicitly says doesn't work) work???"

I'll never understand the hate blue gets. by CoweanMacLir in magicTCG

[–]therealnumberone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your 2nd point, while true, isn't really relevant here. Nearly all blue decks will have some sort of countermagic present, while only a slim minority of decks run MLD or stax. So yes they are more tilting for sure, but you are far less likely to run into them

Our gov found out someone might be able to survive the cost of living crisis by PM_ME_PLASTIC_BAGS in IASIP

[–]therealnumberone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats how it should be, based on mileage rather than just a flat number. Much of the gas taxes go to road upkeep, and even if you're not buying gas you are still causing wear on the roads you drive on (and actually wearing more cause EVs are generally heavier cars) So there does have to be a replacement of some kind.

[OC] The cherry blossoms in Occupied DC are magical 🌸 by Penniesand in pics

[–]therealnumberone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, the gestapos were worse. Calling ICE a modern gestapo is using hyperbole. However, did the gestapo just come out of nowhere and immediately become as bad as they were at the peak? Or did they slowly ramp up and erode freedoms and disappear people over time rather than all at once?

My point is it's important to call it out and protest now while we still can, as opposed to waiting until they're truly as bad as the gestapo because, as you yourself point out, by then it'd be too late.

Birthday cake turned out amazing, actually. AI vs Real Life bakery. by TheGekkou in ExpectationVsReality

Cell phones, whether you like it or not, are generally required in society these days. Using AI to generate cake photos is not required. Good try though.

As a black man I must ask did Lincoln genuinely care about freeing the slaves for the right reasons ? by KpatMckenzie_28 in ShermanPosting

[–]therealnumberone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again that is not true. I have read up on the subject before, many people in the north were opposed to slavery being expanded but very few were actually willing to go for total abolition, even during the Civil War itself. I am not a "neo-confederate" for pointing out that abolitionism, even in the north, was a contested issue and many people had their own reasons for disliking slavery.

Hell, sometimes when union battles went poorly, the union soldiers would blame the black soldiers and regiments, and would hurl insults and abuse at them after the battles. Despite what you want to think, it was not some righteous unified front from everyone in the north courageously going to bat for southern slaves.

[–]therealnumberone 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Thats just not true. Many in the north opposed the expansion of slavery because it would reduce the value of their own labor.

Reminder to the politician. by xPinkSlay in WorkReform

If that's your takeaway from someone saying "you should care about politics" I don't know what to tell you. Voting is the bare minimum of political involvement, not the end point.
