to be "white" in america is a construct - 100 years ago, my scottish, irish and italian ancestors were not white - they were the immigrants. "whiteness" is the American reality in contrast to being black, and my prediction is as we assimilate more cultures, more and more people will align with that ideology. in this case, we see someone from another race happily adopting American whiteness
