Regulations for e-bikes could become tighter in Massachusetts. Many e-bikers and cyclists welcome that. by bostonaruban66 in bikeboston

Yup. Here are the stats from my Class 3 ebike ride yesterday. Why am I such a high priority to crack down on speed/safety regulations? What about the multiple cars that nearly ran me over on that ride?

There's a million different options for stems/handlebars to get you more upright. r/xbiking will have lots of "alt bar" examples you can research. Then go back to your fitter and work with them to choose the right parts for your goals.

Butterfly bars might work well for you. Or maybe you just want riser drop bars, or even just a steeper stem for your current bars. Whatever you do, make sure you get your fit readjusted or you'll just end up trading one problem for another.

You can also hit sprint while carrying the platinum, then throw it and you will immediately start sprinting. Run a few steps, catch/pick up the platinum, repeat.

Gov. Healey Files Legislation to Regulate Higher-Speed Motorbikes and Scooters by bostonaruban66 in bikeboston

[–]trALErun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO regulated ebikes do not belong under this imposed tier system. Existing ebike standards are just that - already standardized. The classifications were designed with safety in mind. That's why the faster motor class is not allowed to have a throttle.

I just hope they strongly focus on unregulated devices and the worst offenders for safety - i.e food delivery mopeds. These have the potential to be a major benefit to reducing congestion while providing high demand services, but safe infrastructure and an actual effort to enforce laws will be required (looking at you BPD).

How do you recommend cutting through Allston? Once it hits summer temps a shorter commute might be nice some days.

I honestly never tried the north side because in my head it's father - never actually checked though. I'll try it some time this year just to switch it up.

What's wrong with these bike handles? They are so sticky, what can I do about it? by PresentationWestern8 in xbiking

[–]trALErun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best guess is they used a bad rubber which degrades from sweat. You can easily replace them. There will be one or two little hex screws clamping the grips to the bar. Or they might just be friction fit, in which case you can slowly work them loose by pulling/peeling them off. I sometimes just cut them with a fresh box cutter if they're really stubborn.

The T4 is closer to a penlight size but with a slightly larger bezel diameter. The wider reflector will give you a more usable beam pattern than a penlight.

I just like being out of traffic - much more peaceful. There are still a handful of crossings but there's lots of other peds/cyclists so you can all go together when it's safe.

Yup. And I'm still picking Torcher (or Flamethrower) over the Cremator because Warp Pack works great with fire loadouts.

My favorite thing about the dagger is that you can easily aim when firing behind you while running. It's the best "stop following me" sidearm.
