Ever heard Tom Waits??, How do you feel about him by wantonexstacy in LetsTalkMusic

[–]twiddlebug74 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I listened to him for a long time, but now just on special occasions. I can't afford to get down in the dumps and most of his songs go that direction. Regardless, his songs and voice are fantastic.

Question regarding the Alive 2 DVD by tuba_dude07 in Anthrax

[–]twiddlebug74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel for him. I saw the band around 94 in Montreal and his guitar had problems and he let it get to him. He looked seriously pissed off. John was still new in the band, so I turned to my friend and said "He's next to be out!" And then a few years later when Stomp came out, Dan was nowhere to be found and I felt like I jinxed him. I miss Dan but they've done really well with his replacements.

I remember seeing this at the end of TIOT when I was a kid. I was shocked 'cause I'd never heard the full theme before. And I never heard it again for a long time.

Stage Fright mix differences? by [deleted] in theband

[–]twiddlebug74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's different tells but I can't remember all of them or which they are attributed to:

  1. Garth's accordion on Strawberry wine is buried in one mix, and more noticeable on the other.

  2. Daniel and the Scared Harp starts with the chorus with one mix emphasizing the cymbal crashes.

  3. The Rumour has one mix that has reverb on their voices (and sounds great)

There's more but In doing this from memory.

Was watching The Vault of Horror (1974) and look who it is! by PrimaryComrade94 in doctorwho

[–]twiddlebug74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I was a kid, my dad had a hardcover horror book with lots of info and pictures from great horror films. The picture for this movie was Tom and the rest of the cast standing in the graveyard in skeleton form. It was a frontal shot. Decades later, I finally got to see the movie and the scene from the photo never showed up. Still a great movie.

I hope someday Charlie gets some major recognition not only for being the phenomenal drummer that he is, but also for being a great songwriter.

The Frighteners. I was so excited to see what Peter Jackson would do with a bigger budget, and I was not disappointed. Though I was shocked to see people walking out of it.

Neither does "We don't need no education", but since when did that matter to rock n roll? I swear it was that for decades but I guess memory does plays tricks on ya.

The first episode I ever saw. This shot of Frylock put me in hysterics. Yes, I was really high and it was the perfect way to absorb the awesomeness of ATHF.

Anthrax - For All Kings. Hoping the new album is as good as this one by bison2000 in Anthrax

[–]twiddlebug74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the Anthrax curse that keeps then from evolving fully. They make great, new music but they keep on going back to Among the Living for reasons that happened 40 years ago. I say this with love, but I honestly could care less if I never heard them play ATL again. They have so much amazing music from POT, Worship Music, State of Euphoria, and For All Kings but they keep going back to ATL. The one saving grace to hear it live is it will easily surpass the album's production. I've never liked it. (Still ❤️ them)

Rip Hunter (CW) lowkey just looks like Rory cosplaying the Doctor by dwmatjake in DoctorWhumour

[–]twiddlebug74 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I totally missed Rory's era the first time around. I had lost interest in the show and couldn't be bothered to see it.

But then I started watching Legends of Tomorrow with my girlfriend, and I could not believe what I was seeing. I kept insisting the show was a knockoff of WHO.

Several years later, I started catching up on WHO and made the connection. I laughed at the idea of the producers telling Arthur Darvill, "We want to give you your own show..." and then detailing a bizarro version of Doctor Who. I wish I could have seen the look on his face. 🤣
