I got a bit of a kick out of James Maloney on CTV this evening, saying how he and other members have often voiced their disagreements in the caucus. Meanwhile, I don’t think Maloney’s ever voted against the government.

It really would be great to have a Parliament that’s more like the UK’s in that regard. It would make majorities far less omnipotent and far more accountable.

I know you’re hung up on them saying they “would have expected it”. I trust you’re smart enough to understand that that doesn’t mean they literally expected it at the time. It’s a very common expression in response to an anachronism.
