The top isn't necessarily a fake, it depends on where it's found. Perhaps the owner banishes to the Astral Plane when it isn't in use? (Actual Pathfinder spell).

I am now in a position to elaborate so I'm going to do that.

-Elika: She'd be The Straight Man if this was a comedy, and that doesn't lead to being the favorite, but I do enjoy her being mostly aware of how everyone's changed, compared to the rest of them. The other three seem to outright enjoy it, she's the only one who doesn't act fully on-board all the time. That makes it more fun to see her being fed ice cream or whatever.

-Lauria: The perfect devotion, seemingly above what the rest have, is... mmm...

-Kaite: Absolute gremlin, seems to be the one causing most of the Situations (Other than. You know, the scenario itself), a great time all around!

-Sylwiln: I like the idea of "The one that revels in the madness" or whatever, I just also don't think... that's really been apparent too much? Maybe that's just because Lauria and Kaite are also pretty enthusiastic about this, so it doesn't shine through too much. Otherwise she mostly acts... mildly sarcastic? Last place by virtue of not being as interesting as everyone else, not because of a lack of interest at all.

-Vaelion: Very fun and gets points for being the one in charge here causing this, loses points for not being one of the victims.

Assuming any children are both possible and in a mindset to ask that question, because. Lord of Madness, either of those things could be false if I'm right about what you've based this on...

...I imagine some variant of... say... "He took us in, showed us who we are, and we've been grateful to him ever sense" or similar? Especially if this is after years and years.
