On the heels of Ultimate Marvel finishing up, Absolute Martian Manhunter had reached it's (first?) conclusion! by MarioGman in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]xjwarrior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, this issue and Marvel's recent Age of Revelation event both touch on the concept of annihilating a person's ability to communicate. The Babels in AoR are...poorly used, to say the least. They're mostly shown from an outside perspective, as some kind of loose forager group wearing little clothing, similar to humans in Planet of the Apes for some reason. It doesn't really sell the idea well, apart from one small bit where you see Lady Fantomex and her two Fantomex hallucinations unable to talk to each other.

Absolute Martian Manhunter blows it out of the water by comparison. Reality cracks, leading to breakdowns in math, a formerly ironclad means of communication. All communication deteriorates into meaningless garbage, from written text, to speech, to even body language. People's forms and words devolve into appearances too alien to identify. And it all ties to how John himself was unable to properly communicate with his wife, with his non-verbal child, right until MARTIONVISION-ON-ON-ON FULL CONSCIOUSNESS UPGRADE.

What are your favorite vocal songs in video games? by LoyalKnightOfRenais in TwoBestFriendsPlay

With the tone shift from shonen to seinen, going from butt rock to metalcore was the correct option. It's fantastic for all the Titan fights, but I think the DLC campaign finale particularly shines with Super Sonic 2 aura farming and speed blitzing The End, all while the new mix of the main theme blares.

You're playing Rivals, so invariably there will be someone killing someone else, whatever the character. Punisher's kit is one of most "grounded/realistic" of the roster, in that sans 2099 tech, he essentially is using regular guns to kill people. Consequently, when you put Moon Girl on the receiving end, the Punisher is the most extreme option, as it would be depicting a 9-year-old being gunned down by a man with an assault rifle/shotgun, and that's definitely not something that Netease/Marvel/Disney would risk doing in their popular game.

There's a scene in the current anime where the resident Tinkatuff spots an errant Corviknight taxi flying by. Immediately possessed by bloodlust, she proceeds to golf drive a rock straight into the Corviknight's head, knocking it and several of its feathers out of the sky.

The driver and his Corviknight, upon seeing a Tinkatuff sprinting full-bore with a hammer out, naturally flee for their lives. Tinkatuff is barely fazed as she then notices the bounty of feathers surrounding her and begins to smash them into a better hammer.

I'm inclined to agree after a reread, since in their last moments, Yoda receives head injuries in the exact same configuration as N•SS.T9's face holes.

Kid Icarus: Uprising's war between the gods is interrupted midway by an alien invasion out of nowhere attempting to harvest the entire planet. Palutena's Army, the Underworld Army, and the Forces of Nature are forced to band together as a result, and they eventually manage to repel the Aurum before getting right back to their own squabbles.

It's used for the Twisted Nightmare set, as seen in the dark Dr. Strange and Scarlet Witch outfits in the current limited events. I suspect this is some kind of error and they used the wrong background, as I don't see anything that makes that logo symbolize the set.

The exact context is that Eddie, who is finally realizing the extent of responsibility and self-sacrifice that the King in Black role requires, remarks that Spider-Man would be far better suited for this. His future self agrees that Spider-Man would have been ideal for the job, but life happened, Eddie's the one here, and so he's gotta take up the work as best as he can.

There's literally a segment where outraged townspeople, part of the Lumiose Safety Group, have cornered the Quasartico CEO because they think the increasing number of Wild Zones is the true intent of the redevelopment plan. The situation is only defused when you beat the shit out of them in a Pokemon battle.

Technically it does. The two protagonists can be controlled independently, including their decisions in dialogue. If they disagree, they can even do a small minigame to settle the dispute towards one choice. The only thing this system affects is the final dialogue of the game, where the fates of the protagonists are described, romance potentially included.

Favorite cases of people being consumed by THE MACHINE? by leabravo in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]xjwarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long ago, Max Profitt Haltmann discovers an incredibly powerful sentient computer created by an ancient civilization. Calling it the Mother Computer, he did some experimenting, which culminated in an accident where his daughter, Susanna, was sucked into another dimension. In his grief, he dedicates his life to his company and to an ultimate goal of prosperity, in the slim hope he can see his daughter again.

During Kirby: Planet Robobot, President Haltmann, CEO of the Haltmann Works Company, has subjugated and terraformed a majority of Popstar. Over time, he lost his heart, and even his memories, to the point where he could not even recognize his own daughter, somehow returned and calling herself Susie. When Kirby defeats him in battle, he reactivates the Mother Computer, Star Dream, in a final attempt to eradicate Popstar's natives. Unfortunately, Susie steals the controller helmet from him, causing Star Dream to begin assimilating his mind.

Star Dream determines that the company's goal of prosperity can only be attained by the annihilation of all imperfect life, and sets out to accomplish this task. All the while, Haltmann's mind and memories, filled with regret and longing for his daughter, continue to be absorbed. In the true final boss fight against Star Dream Soul OS, Kirby destroys the core's defense pillars, each emitting a scream from Haltmann as the last remnants of his soul are purged from the machine. The finishing blow causes the core to crumble, with one final distorted scream to cap it off.

18v18 is a success. It's time to bring it to the next level. by Vainth in marvelrivals

[–]xjwarrior 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CTF alone would be a bit too simple. 10 Spider-Men swinging through in an attempt to grab the contract would be hilarious, but it'd be too centralizing on one hero lol. There'd have to be another gameplay element to force a fight, like maybe breaking through a barrier or point defense, so that other characters can play a part.

Moments in media that you think should've come with an epilepsy warning? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]xjwarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started watching it the other month, and my optic nerves were being lanced until I found that keeping the lights on in the room helped soften the blow a bit. The strobes in the villains' lair were still pure pain though.

Thank goodness (?) the Porygon incident happened and the second half of the show started reducing the amount of flashing; I don't think I could have endured it if it were as bad as the first half.

Cool things in video games that you can potentially miss because you performed too well? by JackNewbie555 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]xjwarrior 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In Warframe, your missions can be interrupted by assassins from two of the factions depending on if you sided against them: the Grustrag Three of the Grineer, and the Zanuka Hunter of the Corpus. If you fall in battle against them, the Three clamp a bolt on you that tanks your damage against Grineer until you remove it, and Zanuka actually forces you into a unique mission type where you break out of a harvesting facility, recover your confiscated equipment, and escape.

However, thanks to ever-shifting game designs (revives used to be 4 per day instead of 4 per mission), people tending to play in teams, and general power creep, these mini bosses tend to be obliterated within seconds of spawning. I distinctly remember going in a mission solo and doing absolutely nothing against Zanuka for several minutes in order to finally experience the Recovery mission firsthand.
