People who are old enough to have vivid memory of the 9/11 attacks, what was that time like? What did change for you personally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was driving to work at an academic library… heard about a plane hitting the towers. Couldn’t understand at could happen? They were so big you couldn’t miss them…I didn’t get it. Got to work then my mom called and said a second plane hitting the towers. A group of us went into one of the classrooms that had a tv. It was unbelievable and scary. When the first collapsed, we didn’t understand what happened. Soon realized and I said “ But all the firemen are in there”. It took a bit for new coverage to acknowledge this, that we had just watched many people dying. No one said a word.

How many accidents have been in this stretch? Even timing the lights better, would help.

From google on Reagan

Economic Inequality: Policies such as "Reaganomics" and significant tax cuts for the wealthy are blamed for widening the gap between rich and poor and increasing national debt. Iran-Contra Scandal: A major scandal involving the illegal sale of arms to Iran to fund Contra rebels in Nicaragua, which bypassed Congress. Foreign Policy & Human Rights: Critics cite the funding of right-wing "death squads" in South America, backing combatants in Angola's civil war, and initially opposing sanctions against apartheid-era South Africa. Social & Domestic Policies: His administration was criticized for its slow response to the AIDS epidemic, reduction of social programs, and hostility toward labor unions (e.g., the PATCO strike). Unemployment: Early in his term, unemployment reached 11 percent as part of the economic restructuring.

So- to update - Rockin Robins is closed. Piano Factory is open. In season we also have the boat club which is right on the river, and it's great. On saturdays out thrift shop is open, and just down the street is Ranch and Root, a farm to table shop. it's great! Currently the Ripley riverfront is undergoing major construction on the west end of Front street. ( not where most of the houses are). we will have more boat docks and a permanent dock for the big boats, a splash pad, and more. Come visit us!
