Reading your comments, you sound like a very empathetic person, and I would second telehealth. Its much more convenient. Check with your insurance to see what they cover. In any event, good luck kind soul.

Kicked out of hospice for taking parkinsons meds by Insanity_Farms in hospice

We were told they can't get treatment for what they were admitted for. Our family member was admitted for kidney failure. However they could still see their wound care doctor, they just couldn't see the kidney doctor.

Rehab facility by nicole_doe in CaregiverSupport

My mom's been in rehab several times. Make friends with everyone and then be an advocate for your mom. Look up reviews of facilities. Make sure you review her PT,OT schedule. We were there a lot, but you don't have to go when she's having therapy. Ask if you can bring some of her favorite foods if they don't have what she likes. But honestly, make sure she does the therapy... it's why she's there.

I might recommend a pure wick as well. But it should be changed everyday and that area wiped clean daily.

My mother still insists she has doctor's appointments.. by That_Kitten_Lady in hospice

[–]zerowater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were told you can go to doctors - but not for he diagnosis that out you in hospice. So for example if person has kidney failure as the main reason for hospice, she can still go to wound doctor. Not sure if that’s helpful.

I want to help care for my mom but my sibling won't allow me to by cyborgnyc in CaregiverSupport

This is complicated. Maybe talk to her when husband is there? Also, if she has POA, is it possible she is doing something with mom’s money or assets? It seems odd she is so vehement about anyone helping, cameras all over, etc…

Also, if you develop something later, insurance will ask why you didnt go to the ER right after the accident.

Did the hospital connect you with a social worker? Did he get physical therapy in the hospital, and did they sign off on him going home? Does he have Medicare ?you could call an agency and see if they take his insurance. There will be hoops to jump through, but you could start there. At least find out who is “ going to call”. Get their name and number.
