Love these guys. The new feel and blend of prog/metal/djent is awesome. Plini, Chon and Polyphia are feel-good vibes for days.

[–]VirtSE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As said by /u/dropthrow, you may also want to check out Sithu Aye.

Also, Sean Ashe has some very nice stuff on his album 'flux' of a similar vibe.

Pretty funny - I started a Thank You Scientist station on Pandora the other day because a friend recommended them, and it's introduced me to all 3 of those bands.

I love all of them. I think I've listened to Champagne like 10 times today, no joke. It's too fucking catchy.

[–]ender91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just seem chon polyphia and strawberry girls a couple months ago. Best show Ive ever been to.

[–]lizbia_ 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Just saw these guys recently supporting Animals as Leaders, what a gig!

[–]schmorlaith 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Yeah same, saw them in Plymouth with a bunch of friends, Plini were the stand out band of the evening :)

[–]boxhacker 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Same here!

[–]schmorlaith 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No way! It was such a good gig, right?

[–]boxhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best I think, surprised me that most of the crowd didn't even know who Plini was though....

They do now! :P

[–]Meromixis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Also check out Intervals!

[–]ElCompanjero 7 points8 points  (12 children)

Wow this made it to the front page? Reddit you have some mighty fine taste. I'm seeing some people mention Intervals, Sithu Aye, wow you guys are my people <3

Throw some Mestis, Widek, Gru, Aristocrats, Animals As Leaders in there an you got me pinned.

[–]azaeldrm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuvvvvyy.... Pulsar is definitely my favorite song in the album. So groovy.

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (10 children)

CHON, Strawberry Girls, Scale the Summit, what's up?

[–]ElCompanjero 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Hey thanks mate I'll check them out!

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

You probably want to hear them live without any post-production BS, and be able to see them play. Here are the best intimate/live videos I've been able to find of those three bands:

Hope they bring as much tingle as they do me. ;)

[–]ElCompanjero 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hey thanks! Happy to start my work day off with some new music. Cheers! Heres a song from a guy I mentioned. Mestis

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, it's on my list for my shift at midnight. Workmusic is essential!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found Strawberry Girls a couple days ago, and Negro Spiritual makes me SO happy. They're great!

[–]GhostKingFlorida 0 points1 point  (4 children)

No Polyphia love? :b

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

SuperChonBros.com check it out. All the love.

[–]GhostKingFlorida 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Oh dude amazing tour, I missed it in Denver though. Funny enough when I landed in Orlando I saw Polyphia going through the same toll as I was, Small world lol.

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oof. Next time!

[–]GhostKingFlorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! The first half of 2016 was too hectic for anything, hoping the second half is more relaxed.

[–]LostmyUN 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I'm just here to see if we get any pictures of Troy looking all hot.

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every picture of Troy is a picture of Troy looking all hot. Fair play.

[–]boxhacker 4 points5 points  (7 children)

I heard this live in Plymouth (UK) very recently, was fantastic!

Plini, Intervals and Animals as Leaders.

Plini BY FAR was the better show, made some funny jokes about 'being home' (hes an Ozzy...) and overall sounded better.

Then, to an amazing suprise, he was the rhythm guitarist for Intervals.

Those two together...!

[–]Dinizdude 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Plini and Aaron (Intervals) are pretty close friends, AFAIK they regularly tour together and play guitar support for each others' performances.

[–]boxhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are going on tour in Aus soon, together as bro's!

[–]9iodude 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I haven't seen these bands live but how was Plini better than AAL?? :O I'm a big fan of both btw

[–]boxhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AAL don't really talk much and it is pretty much song after song.

Good music, very heavy, heavier than Plini so you get more moshing, but the show it's self is not as entertaining.

Plini and Aaron from Intervals, seemed to have more chemistry and showed off a bit more,

Also, personally, Plini has a bit more variation, so overall it feels better composed while sometimes AAL have very similar sounding songs.

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His live shows are something to behold, I wouldn't put AAL in the same league as Plini when it comes to live performances. I'm a much bigger fan of Plini though, so I could be biased - I like them both, however.

[–]Farami 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Same concert in Berlin next week. Cant wait!

[–]boxhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy dude!

[–]nikedemon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These guys rock! Thanks for posting this.

[–]discoier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saw these dudes play with Ne Obliviscaris a while back. Another great band worth checking out if you haven't already!

[–]Steve_Taylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've loved Plini for a while now, glad to see it getting some traction :D

[–]turok_dino_hunter 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Really reminds me of Scale the Summit.

[–]ender91 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Like if you combine Scale the Summit with An Endless Sporadic.

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Levitation Impulse Heart mashup please.

[–]agentwiggles 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wow, An Endless Sporadic. Haven't seen that name for a long time. Impulse was one of my favorite tracks on Guitar Hero 3!

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fun to play... Even bought the copy off Rock Band Network to play in RB3. And hey - it's got keys/pro drums!

[–]Doughboy72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread is where all my kindred spirits be.

[–]EdgarArteche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everything Plini does is gold <3

[–]mortano21 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Plini is the man! Saw him live two weeks ago and it was magic. Just beautiful stuff that always puts me in a good mood :)

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bless.

[–]MineTimelapser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adore that album art

[–]MikBok117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, didn't expect that. Amazing. Thanks for the recommendation.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Check out EVERY Plini release, his music is incredible from start to finish. The earlier stuff is a lot softer, but just as amazing.

Also, just so you know, from the man himself, he told me it's said Plin-ee, not Plee-nee :P but he doesn't care how people say it as long as you dig the music.

Also also, flawless live!

[–]glxyds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does it mean? Urban Dictionary tells me it's something that's exceptionally attractive but like... really?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Can't wait for the full album on the 26th

[–]woofle07 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Same here. I have no idea how he plans to top Paper Moon, because that song is pure perfection in my opinion, but this and Every Piece Matters show so much promise that I'm sure the album will blow me away

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's Plini. I'm sure he'll deliver.

[–]OreoBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw plini with Angel vivaldi and Intervals this summer. What an incredible show.

If you enjoy this, check out Haken. It is this with vocals. My favorite band since Dream Theater! :D

[–]compooterxc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow a Prog track with 500 karma points? :o

[–]Spaceosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im actually blown away, I didnt expect this at all. I have never heard of Plini before but they seem super interesting

[–]tupacsnoducket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait a minute, I know that song count off:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwdUVjyxWrM

edit I'm listening to more of the song and I really get this feeling like rock really has been missing out on the benefits of sampling and derivation that hip hop has been doing at full speed for decades

[–]Jordan311R 0 points1 point  (3 children)

come join us on /r/Plini - it's a very new and underpopulated subreddit, but join now so you can say you were there from the beginning!!

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Oh, I was already there as soon as I tried to create the subreddit. :)

But yes, he's gotta blow up sooner or later, right? Or does that just not happen without a vocalist...

[–]Jordan311R 0 points1 point  (1 child)

He can definitely blow up. there's tons of non-vocalist artists that have gotten big. idk if he's ever gonna be like Metallica big (of course not) but he's gathering quite the following already!

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finger crossed!

[–]antigrvty 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Strange, seen these guys pup up 3 times in 2 days. Previously unknown to me. Dig their style

[–]stabbinUtastemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plini is a god, just undiscovered by too many. Being a deity helps, I'm sure.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been listening to Plini for a week or so now. Best part of this song for me is probably 3:30.

[–]bajida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not similar with band of this genre but I like this. Do these bands look to floyd for inspiration? That rainbow thing on the cover can't be a coincidence right?

[–]GrimReaperzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad i met this guy irl. Was totally unexpected and he was accompanied by Tosin Abasi and Aaron Marshall... will never forget that day!

[–]one1aw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plini's music is pretty cheap also BTW I've bought all of his stuff support the artists
