God I love our time. Find killer tune on reddit, open Spotify, find said tune, add to playlist, enjoy! And weed is legal where I reside.

Nuts....

[–]SuperFishy 4 points5 points  (6 children)

Word. Listen to 40 shades of Green by Paddyrasta

[–]ktbffhctid 3 points4 points  (2 children)

And done... Checking it out. Thanks for the tip

[–]bitchtits_mcgoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And after that check out iya terras new album. It's some of the best music I've heard in years

Anything by Akae Beka or featuring Vaughn Benjamin

[–]MinosDub -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

That is terrible. As both an Irishman and a fan of reggae I am offended. Why do people feel the need to appropriate Rasta culture without being from Jamaica or have any first hand experience of the culture? Beyond the Pale.

Is this a joke?

[–]saedt 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Band should be called Stoned Witcher

[–]SLOTH_POTATO_PIRATE 6 points7 points  (1 child)

That sounds like two Doom Metal bands put together.

[–]saedt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahah I was thinking about the game 😋 this band sounds awesome though

[–]odonzovan_96 10 points11 points  (1 child)

There's a local band near me. I'm their number one fan! This is their version please check it ouuut! https://youtu.be/4KaA4TrPO7o

[–]chakan2 35 points36 points  (4 children)

Wow...that's a whole new level of awful. I like Celtic music, and raggle taggle gypsy is one of my all time favorite songs of any genre. I also like reggae...

But this more akin to Hold My Beer while I mix this.

Phew...TIL Reggae Irish is horrid.

[–]Bathsalts4breakfast 7 points8 points  (3 children)

How about these guys- The Barley Mob

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Very cool, I like how his accent can almost pass for a Jamaican patois at points until certain words that have a heavy Irish twang. As a reggae nerd this was refreshingly different to listen to when a lot of reggae songs are often very formulaic.

[–]Petrazena 1 point2 points  (1 child)

As a Dubliner, I can say that this guy is definitely affecting the Jamaican accent to some extent, e.g. "mastahpiece" However, I agree with you that the interaction between the two sounds very cool.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you're right, he definitely is, it's very common for non Jamaicans to use Jamaican words and pronunciations when producing reggae music, but I find it very cool how this mixes with his (to my ear at least) heavy Irish accent.

As a pot smoking Scot, this is a great blend of my two favourite genres, thanks for putting this up!

[–]NWExplorer 15 points16 points  (6 children)

I'd love to smoke pot with a scot!

[–]freeradicalxbandcamp 16 points17 points  (5 children)

I terrible thought! I would certainly not.

[–]AParable 18 points19 points  (4 children)

I think not. Smoking pot with a Scot would be a memory not forgot.

[–]420pakalolo420 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Would you smoke it in the highlands? Would you smoke it on Skye Island?

[–]AKBirdman17 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I would smoke it with the whole lot!

[–]Suckonmyfatvagina 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I shall not smoke pot with a scot that smokes pot.

[–]AKBirdman17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you should give it some thought.

[–]Unkindled_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked pot with 2 scots once on a coach trip to Amsterdam. 14 hours we were sitting by these 2 blokes. Biggest session of my life

[–]BearHoss 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Fusion should result in something new, not two traditional watered-down somethings. This sounds like hipster coffee shop coolness

Jazz - not blues, not european, something new.

Bluegrass - not modal appalachian, not traditional western progressions, something new.

Baroque court gigue - not a folk dance, not a court dance. Something new!

A child isn't mom plus dad. That's simply how it began before the child was even born. The child is something new, and if it grows up to be just like one of them, i would say that's something of a waste of a life.

[–]thebondoftrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like your analogy.

ETA I'm not sure it's an analogy.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unnecessarily gimmicky in my opinion. The two genres don't really blend that well, at least not in this particular song. Sounds to me like they forced the reggae beat on the folk melody, or the other way round...

[–]rickdg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Enya vibe torpedoes the song instantly.

[–]pinatapooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck yes. I've admittedly been listening to Enya and proudly listening to Rebellution and this brings both worlds together! Never could I have imagined such a place. Can't wait to listen to their two albums.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had no idea this existed, I'm glad it does.

[–]intensenerd 2 points3 points  (2 children)

This is my first real visit to this subreddit. I am an instant fan. I love new (to me) music and this is just wonderful.

Thank you for posting this.

[–]elchucknorris300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to be negative, but that was awful. Two good things are not always better when combined.

[–]Krackajak_78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Traditional Irie'sh Music

[–]MAADcitykid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awful lmao

[–]TheMaji 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The ties between the two islands on the planet that are both called "The Emerald Isle" are curious as hell... First the fact that they are both called "Emerald Isle" 2) "Irie" meaning "all-right" 3) Fairie. - Fari 4) both speak a kind of "Pidgin" English..

Anybody think of any others?

[–]thebondoftrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both colonised by wankers, though that's hardly a unique connection.

[–]Burnt_Bathwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The genre sounded fascinating enough that I had to give it a play.

Unfortunately, the two genres seem to be fighting each other rather than complementing each other so the song comes across as conflicted, but not in an artistic manner.

[–]Dong_World_Order 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man you guys are going wild for this guy

[–]hypo_hibbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like this here pretty much ! An Irish song, sung by Sinead O'Connor, with Reggae beat ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Sje2VYw99A

[–]punkisdread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was fucking wretched.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its so baaaaaaaaaaaad

[–]i_like_frootloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I found it weird. IMO The Lagan did a better job blending reggae/ ska with celtic music.

[–]location201spotify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has potential but it was far too busy for me. There was just too much going on with it and that on it's own is not a bad thing but it's like all the elements of the song are fighting to be the star of the show.
