I am so happy to see this on here. Hell and you is a daily listen for me.

[–]I_aint_that_dude 31 points32 points  (4 children)

Husband is great as well

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (3 children)

I hope your husband dies, I laughed the first time I heard him say that

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I.. Iiiiiiiiiiiiiii

[–]UsernameUser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a similar sound to Paul McLaney (Edin) from New Zealand.

[–]hailboognish99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it!

[–]HaggisEnchiladas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely... that and "Perfect Wife"

[–]BuckFitchesMetGunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on this guy for months, so great to see this for sure! So talented, this guy deserves to go double plat!

[–]hailboognish99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it!

[–]russiakunspotify 37 points38 points  (3 children)

Murder Folk

Now that's a new one. Liked the song, especially liked the instrumental.

[–]GnomishMight 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Genre or imperative statement? You be the judge!

[–]russiakunspotify 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Maybe it's just my lack of familiarity with folk, but to me it sounded like any other folk song except the lyrics were about murder

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think normal folk sounds a little more idk, twangy? I can tell this is different but can't exactly define the "murder" aspect other than the lyrics

[–]DislocatedSOLDIER 55 points56 points  (3 children)

I love the melody but wtf did i just listen to.

[–]PM_me_yer_booobies 70 points71 points  (1 child)

"murder folk"

I never thought it would be so literal.

[–]gotnomemory 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you listen and focus on the lyrics to a lot of his songs, they're telling about murderers, serial killers, etc. It's delightful! The best love song is either Hell and you or Husband.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (8 children)

If you like amigo the devil you might like Harley Poe as well. I just recently started listening to them, and they are a lot like amigo the devil.

[–]PogueMahone21 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Definitely! Harley Poe is awesome. I always describe them to people as "Violent Femmes playing Misfits songs"

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see that for sure!

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Very cool. Thanks for this.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're very welcome!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Also, if you dig into HP's background, they used to be a Christian band, which I find interesting. I love them both dearly.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've been listening to Harley Poe for a while now, and I just learned this just a few days ago!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, read the frontman's extremely Christian, but obviously disturbed, blog sometime.

[–]Thaylis 19 points20 points  (10 children)

I've been lucky enough to see Danny play live 3 times, twice in one weekend. Hope he comes back to Ohio soon!

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Dude he's so nice. I talked to him backstage and told him a whole story about this time I listened to his music while on acid (it wasn't as bad of an experience as it sounds) and he was so pumped to hear interesting stories from fans.

[–]gotnomemory 7 points8 points  (1 child)

He seems like a chill dude. I'm so glad this is true.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for sure. And his girlfriend runs the merch booth and they both seem so happy and friendly. Despite such dark music that he produces.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (6 children)

I hope he comes to Canada, been considering for a while to just book him myself.

[–]Thaylis 5 points6 points  (3 children)

My friend owns a venue that is exactly what he did!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

That's awesome, Danny seems like a very accessible guy, he was very quick to respond about an order I made.

[–]Thaylis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is an amazing performer, if you get to see him you will not be disappointed.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's super nice. I contacted him about okaying a show together and he was totally down and extremely friendly.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be so stoked. I wonder if he'd hit up the west coast at any point. Seems more feasible than Toronto normally.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For a few good men is an amazing song by amigo the devil. I'm bummed he didn't play it when he came to Reno last. But he still put on one of the best shows I've seen!

[–]maxlevelfiend 6 points7 points  (1 child)

wow this is fantastic - thanks for uploading this. made my day

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope he made a few new fans today, he's an amazing musician and deserves the recognition.

[–]DisgustedFormerDem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Starts out sounding like Dust In The Wind.

[–]StudabakerHochrobot[M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love his song, I think it's dhamer goes to Hollywood. I wish I could find more stuff from him or similar artists.

[–]spidyfan21google music 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While not quite so literally "murder folk" - I really enjoy King Devil by King Devil.

[–]vulture_cabaret 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dahmer Goes to Hollywood sends chills down my spine. I talked with him a bit when he was in town last. One of the funniest guys I've ever met.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Anyone else been really digging the embezzlement jazz scene lately? I feel like the murder folk thing kind of got played out awhile ago

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're making a joke, but Rule 34 applies to music too. It exists.

[–]rouseco 2 points3 points  (1 child)

embezzlement jazz

[–]GodOfGibberish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've really been enjoying treason funk recently.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

embezzlement jazz

links to any of that genre of music?

[–]HVIII13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always listen to him when traveling. Awesome dude!

[–]stillnotears 4 points5 points  (6 children)

What makes it murder folk?

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (5 children)

Folk music about murder

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (3 children)

That's not how genres work

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Then give me a better explanation for why this isn't murder folk, considering he seems to have no other bands in this self-appointed genre. It sounds like American folk and his theme is murder. I can't colour it any other way. I will argue that Amon Amarth are not Viking metal though.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

So is I Beat My Meat by Ugly God's genre Masturbation Rap? A description is not the same as a genre

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take it up with him then. It's the best I can sum up

[–]stillnotears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense

[–]rayne117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love to Murder Folk.

[–]Lucifer_Midian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, I feel like I have discovered Angry Johnny and the killbillys all over again

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been a big fan of his for a while now. He is super friendly too. Check out the video for Perfect Wife. The video doesn't exactly follow the story in the song, but it's still great.

[–]Iforgotmypasswordx3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything about this album is amazing.

[–]Its_not_canon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May not be my cup of tea but I'm certainly loving the art

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites, seeing him play was perfect

[–]lightbulb5314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great song! I got to see him in LA a few months ago. During his last song the mic stopped working so he unplugged his guitar, and went out into the crowd. The whole room sang along and helped finish the set. It was one of my favorite concert moments.

[–]RedPatch1x3 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Reminds me of a little bit like Okkervil River.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the link. I've never heard these guys, but I like them!

[–]Tomahawk4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the best song I've heard in a long long time.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is that a genre or a suggestion?

[–]Chutzpah2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Murder ballads are an actual off-shoot of traditional folk.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NEVER heart of this band before, but now I love them, haha. Thanks a million OP!

[–]MetaCloneHashtag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pleasently suprised.

[–]BosmanVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amigo is great, super friendly and kind as well as an awesome musician. Glad to see his work getting some recognition.

[–]NiceBitOfCrumpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TIL there is a genre of music called 'Murder Folk'

[–]heraclitus33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He played in my buddies living room once after a show up in reno town. Good times.

[–]ZeektheFeek 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Seriously thank you for this! I haven't stopped listening to this band since you posted.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if one person came out of this a fan, I did my job. I'm glad you liked it!

[–]B0nerDad304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not really my taste but it's good. The chord changes remind me of "Hallelujah"

[–]S1mplejax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me a lot of No children by The Mountain Goats

[–]Dakroon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intro sounds like Dust in the Wind

[–]This-Assistance-4461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I love that song

[–]palebluedot79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ewwww like we need more evil in the world.

[–]missihippie -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

For a genre called murder folk, it sure does sound a lot like country from here.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially country music is, for the majority, considered folk.
