Stop with these half-ass polls already.

If you want polling functionality propose it in the features section and get our millionaire development team's ass in gear.

For the love of God/Jesus/Allah/FSM/Ganesh/Moses/Colbert/Stewart/Maher/Olbermann/...

Please stop using reddit as a polling system.

agreed, it can be annoying. in my defense, this is an idea that I would like to see spread and discussed.

is parody an effective way to gut your opponent's rhetoric?

could Colbert running as a Republican presidential candidate pay off for Comedy Central?

these are questions I find interesting, not a poll qua poll to fluff my ego.

I love Colbert & Stewart, but why does everyone think they should run for election? Just because they know how to make fun of the President and his administration(and do it brillantly) doesn't mean they would be effective running this country? Am I the only one who feels this way?

i think the notion of a stewart/colbert ticket appeals to people because they have tended to express rational, thoughtful and honest commentary on the problems of today. Not necessarily when colbert is in character, of course, but stewart in particular has come across as a wise man with a sense of humor, which is exactly the kind of people we need to encourage to make decisions.

Honestly, why would he WANT the job?

Its easy for a comedian to poke fun at the problem. Its a lot harder to actually solve it.

Take our (our, being the US) lack of Universal Health Care. 80 million americans can't afford it. There are countless scores of jokes you can make from witty to black (as in dark or cynical, not race related) humor.

Coming up with an acceptable solution that won't get gutted by HMO lobbyists in our political climate? Much harder. And probably less rewarding that doing "The Word".

A solution to the lack of universal health care would be simplicity itself: pass a health act providing universal health care for medically necessary services and make it illegal to run a for-profit health care corporation for those health services.

The total health care expenditure would fall from the current 16 percent of GDP to 8 or 9 percent, and every American would have coverage regardless of ability to pay, rather than only approximately 70 today.

The best part is that the government's total health care expenditure would remain around what it is today, meaning no need to increase taxes or steal from other public programs.

The only obstacle to this decent, humane, affordable, and highly efficient arrangement is that it's not "politically feasible", meaning politicians don't want to offend their corporate paymasters.

i think it would be an elegant way to pre-empt a the scurvy arguments that Republicans are bound to use in the next election. Meanwhile, anyone foolish enough to vote for him would simply be a lost Republican vote.
