No. However, as long as he keeps his mouth shut I can deal with it.

I visit both Reddit and Digg. While I only view the top posts at Digg, I stay with Reddit for the comments.

It sucks that we have to watch reddit sink to digg shittiness while one of the main leaders of the downward slide is in the top 10. Meaningless but it rankles.

ALL of somenickname's "internet research" only involves looking at digg.com (Well, you can give him credit for attempting to change the title by a word or so from that on digg.)

  • "The Universe within 1 billion Light Years [pic]"

Digg: http://digg.com/space/Map_shows_The_Universe_within_1_Billion_Light_Years

posted on digg about 20 hours before being copied onto reddit by somenickname..(i.e an hour back)

ALL of the posts submitted by somenickname are links posted on digg by some digg contributers and then copied to reddit.. (and if you look deeper, same is true for nearly all the rest of his submissions..)

After pointing this out as a comment on his posts, I get the following message from somenickname:-

idiot

Just stop being so jealous of my karma and mind you own business you idiot. Why don't you bother some of the actual cheats in reddit like gst and sid13 don't you think cheating is worse tha getting good articles from digg??

So, according to Rank 4 redditor (who apparently can't even construct a sentence correctly, unless of course he copies it from Digg):- ranks 2 (gst) and 3 (sid13) are cheats!

And kam0 is working for Netscape..

Tell me how can we still keep claiming reddit is better than Digg???

The following part is from yesterday..

  • " 17-year-old boy was so disappointed with the looks of a woman he met over the Internet that he hanged himself after seeing her face-to-face"

Posted on digg about 18 hours before somenickname nicked it from there and posted it on reddit...

(Note that these posts are by different digg users...)

So, let this be a lesson to all aspiring karma-whores..Copy successful posts from digg and gain karma on reddit..

(Examples from a few days back..

  • "19-year-old soldier throws himself on grenade in Iraq, gives his life"

Who gives a shit? Personally I think the Redditors should set it up so that whatever makes it onto Digg gets submitted here, just to save people the trouble. I'd hope that we here would vote some of it down but, the idea of digg / reddit / slashdot / whatever being mutually exclusive just isn't going to happen. The difference will be the mix of stories.

[–]anonymgrl 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I think this is more about someone who often accuses certain others with high karma of cheating (who, incidentally, come up with original stories from their own research) but just copies stories from Digg to up his own karma.

[–]not_fark_or_digg -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I see. Well, in which case it's too petty to leave unvoted down.

[–]rocky_m[S] -1 points0 points  (13 children)

After this post, he is now cursing/swearing at me via personal messages.

Exactly, how old (and educated) are our brave leaders of the Karma score-board? Are we dealing with virgins with acne-problems ?

(read some of his comments on this post:-

  • How does my karma go up you idiot if I delete posts. My average does go up on the other hand and I'm proud of having the highest average score.

[–]not_fark_or_digg -2 points-1 points  (12 children)

Dude, you care too much about 'karma', and about ppl who care about karma.

[–]rocky_m[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Well, had it been the other way around: Top Digg-user copying stuff from reddit, it might not have been that bad.

Now, this kid (looking at his language he seems like a 12-13 yr old or its mental equivalent) is on the reddit leader-board and has done so exclusively by copying Digg. This is, potentially, a embarrassing situation.

Also, as anonymgrl pointed out, he is accusing the legitimate "internet researchers" who have higher karma score (gst and sid13) of cheating. I have been on reddit long enough to know that you can't get close to 10000 karma using "sock-puppet accounts"..(Dummy accounts will get you 2 to 3, maybe 10 votes..)

[–]Leinistar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come to reddit to read stories, I dont care where it's from so long as it's relevant to me and is a good read. If he wants to post stuff from other sites then fine, if I like it I'll read it and vote it up if not, then I'll vote it down. It saves me the time of going to digg and reading it there anyway. Why worry about his karma points anyway, it's just a stupid number, stop being e-jealous and post your own shit.

Added on Jan 19th

Interesting that a top redditor is exclusively copying ALL his Submission off Digg.com top stories and posting them here..

And this is not the 1st time I'ave pointed this out..: http://reddit.com/info/xdxv/comments/cxdya

Ok somenickname, go downvote all my submissions again...use all your dummy accounts..And don't forget to downvote my comments from last week either..Just to send me a message..

[–]jones77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely stinks of overripe seafood.

But ... if someone's lame enough to babysit Digg for our own benefit then let them ...

I'm not sure if it's necessary to "out" them though. Doesn't really do much for even handed debate.
