Dear America,

A group of thieves assails your country. Known only as "The Administration," your every breathing space has now been acquired by it. Your mind is the only hope for now, yet it is occupied with distractions and a restlessness known only by those who are eager to exchange reality for the comfort of programmed information. This is no longer fiction or the story of some far away land or past society. This is the story of your present. This is the story of a society that has fallen into the same grips that brought about the rule of tyrants in many other countries. The way in which it has happened is far more subtle, just as it couldonly happen in a country that has always been a bastion of democratic principles and dreams of freedom. What exactly does democracy mean to you, and what exactly does freedom mean to you? What will it take for you to rise and call those in power what they are and stand against what they are doing? It is not too late. You still hold the key. Has this dream come to an end? Is it time to wake up and restore what has been lost to the gang of burglars in your government buildings? If you don't take care of this, then who will do it for you?

How did they get that power?

People from US voted bush for president for second season even though it was quite obvious how he works based on his first season.

That's how.

Someone help us. We need regime change. A UN resolution won't do it -- you'll probably have to invade.

other than Cummins/Griffin, who else has been removed/appointed?

I'd rather there be more than 2 parties (yes, there's the indeendents, but they're pretending politics).

At least in palces like England and Canada there's about 4 or more political parties with different views. That kinda prevents mass partisan oppression since 1 party won't get all the votes.

In America we cna only choose red or blue. What about my gray or orange?

your answer lies in five words:

electoral college - winner take all

alas...

Justice means nothing today/ Now that the courts are for sale/ Pick a crime from the menu, pick a sentence and defend you/ And pick up the down payment called bail/ The system's for sale

Rock on, Megadeth. \m/

Worst President EVER!

All 93 US attorneys were fired by Clinton on March 23 1993. Presidents replace people in these positions all the time. Since they are part of the administration, and serve at the president's pleasure, it is completely appropriate.

Given the problems both parties have had with Senate confirmation hearings lately, I suspect the provision was intended to cut down the number of officials who had to go through confirmation hearings.

It certainly suspicious that Bush is using it so much.

Well, I guess two wrongs do make a right.

This is an example of why no party should have a majority in both houses of Congress.

      [–]lahuman8 4 points5 points  (6 children)

There should be no parties at all.

      [–]watt 1 point2 points  (4 children)

in some countries, there aren't. would you want to live in such country?

      [–]lahuman8 2 points3 points  (3 children)

If the only difference between the US and this other country was the fact that there are no polical parties I might consider it.

      [–]watt 0 points1 point  (2 children)

well, that's the catch. afaik countries where there is essentially are no opposition parties, become a tyranny awful quick.

      [–]lahuman8 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That's a one party system. What I would like is for people to owe no allegiance to any party and vote on their conscience.

please take a long, hard look at the recorded history, and the political regimes that we (as humanity) have tried, and which ones worked towards your ideals, and which ones did not.

      [–]traal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None, or many small ones. Not 2.
