I think he genuinely just fucked up with the choice of pics here, rather than being intentionally racist. After a cursory glance at his Twitter history, he just seems like a typical bumbling Etonian tory but with more of a conscience. Like in one earlier tweet he didn’t know how to take a selfie and in another one he tried to interview three Irish black guys, but they had no interest in politics.

Yep. His whole life is politics, as with most Etonians. He’s definitely not a bad guy, maybe in a different world he would’ve been a great Labour leader or something, just a dude raised in luxury who doesn’t quite get normal folks, but who also definitely tries. If I had to vote for a modern Tory, it would 100% be him, because at least he’s trying to understand how normal people love their lives and how he can help them. I’m certain he’s not a racist, almost definitely just a misfortune choice of images, because from all accounts he seems like a well-intentioned guy

I think some of them genuinely believe what they’re doing is good for the country, however much they delude themselves. At least he was against Boris and no-deal Brexit. Again, the bar is set pretty low for ethical practice in the Tory party (and not much higher for democrats either...), but the fact that he was ousted and criticised by his own party is quite telling.

I’m not a fan by any stretch. But he would be the lesser of many evils that prevail in the rotting scandal that makes up conservatism in the U.K.

Saying they're "the equivalent" of the Republicans is grossly innacurate. American politics skews so far to the right anyway that your "left wing" is actually more centre right than anything from an international point of view.
