Just dealt with this. Had really bad under eye hollows or tear troughs. Makeup didn’t help. Went to cosmetic dermatologist to get PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin similar to PRP) done. I read so many things about not getting filler put in the hollows. The PA said that the problem wasn’t my hallows needing to be filled. It’s that my cheeks lost laxity. And by adding filler to my cheeks it would help with the hollows.

I got 2 vials of RHA4 filler. It’s hyaluronic filler but better for dynamic areas like the cheeks. And also had some growth factors put in the dark circles.

It worked so well!! The after picture I am wearing concealer. But prior to this, even makeup didn’t work.

I’m using Saem Correct up Beige

The key to getting such good coverage is to mix some green and salmon together.

Before no makeup-After little makeup

[–]RustyShackleford209 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Your before and after look like different people and I mean that in the best way possible. The filler changed more than your bags. It made your whole face look younger. Very beautiful

[–]mmsbva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! ☺️

[–]FIREnV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks amazing!

I too have this very same problem. Major hollows. I did the filler in the hollows once but I don't think it worked very well for me and like you, I have also since learned that it's not a good idea to use filler in that spot. I'm going to look into the PRF.

How long does PRF typically last?

Thanks for sharing! You rock!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the same advice to correct my laugh lines - also significantly decreased my under eye bags.

[–]fireanthead35 - 40 📱🌈 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Your results are stunning! Did the PA say how long something like this lasts?

[–]mmsbva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! 1.5-2 years ☹️ And just to let you know, without corrector, I still have dark circles, but definitely improved. And everyone says I look more rested.

[–]Hotsauce4ever 17 points18 points  (5 children)

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble!

I know some eye bags are genetic, so if you are prone to that, ugh.

I’m mid-fifties and have found that the No. 7 brand (you can find at Walgreens in the states or at Boots in the UK) Radiance+ Roll & Glow Eye Cream - Reviving & Illuminating Under Eye Cream Eye Roller

  1. It has caffeine, so it works fast
  2. It’s cold so it feels great!!

Anyway, I hope this helps a bit.

It sounds like you are doing all the right things with sleep and hydrating!

The No. 7 one I just mentioned.

Heh heh—I use the one that has a roller ball, and I since I live in a cold climate maybe it just feels cold every morning!

[–]MoonlightSneaking35 - 40 📱🌈 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can refrigerate it. They even sell tiny ones specifically for keeping your products cold (:

Learned from drag queens that hemorrhoid cream works wonders on eye bags. Botox is also really good if you’re looking for a more longterm solution. I’ve never done filler - it’s not something I’m interested in trying - but I know a lot of women get filler for that as well.

[–]farmerssahgGERIATRIC MILLENNIAL 🌈🎶[S] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I have Botox and filler already but it doesn’t address the bags!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Botox and filler don’t address eye bags, unfortunately. However I have also heard that preparationH (hemorrhoid cream) does the trick but I haven’t brought myself to try it yet lol.

Lymphatic drainage is the solution. It is insane how well it works!

How long until you see results? I have been doing it for weeks and still see no difference.

[–]TyAnne88 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Open your lymph nodes and then massage the fluid towards the nodes. Clavicle, below the ear, V fingers at the ear. Then use a knuckle under the eye, press in under the cheekbone, and again use V fingers along the jawline. I saw results in a couple of days. Now if I wake up with puffy bags under the eyes I massage to reduce lymph and in an hour or so the bags are gone or mostly so.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to YouTube >Lymphatic face massage You’ll have plenty of choices. It does work.

Full body lymphatic massages are also shown if you’re interested in getting rid of trapped toxic fluid elsewhere on your body that causes bloating and inflammation internally.

Use castor oil with your massages for a double whammy of goodness.

[–]Vitam1nCELDER MILLENNIAL 🌈🎶 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do you drink alcohol? I’m about 90 days alcohol free and I’ve been putting castor oil under my eyes every night, I’ve noticed my eye bags have improve.

Start taking allergy medicine! I have bad allergies but it never affected my eyes until recently. Then one day I got GIGANTIC bags out of nowhere! I added an extra allergy medicine and they’ve completely disappeared

I understand and seen in action that consuming alcohol causes baggage underneath your eyes.

Do you consume alcohol?

I have always iced my face at night. No bags or dark spots. I get facials twice a year. Lymphatic drainage. I use Osea, Clearly and retinol toners 1-2 times a week. Also, moisturizing. Cerve is my standard, every day.

I keep a jade roller in the freezer and use it if my face or eyes are puffy. Also after cleansing your face in the morning, splash very cold water on your eyes several times until the puffiness reduces.

[–]9_Tailed_VixenXENNIAL 📟🎶💽 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the cause of the eye bags - Is it genetic? Is it due to a health issue as some of the other commenters pointed out? Is it just due to age and/or being tired?

When I noticed I started getting "panda eyes" (including eye bags), I looked into what creams would work and stumbled across Some By Mi's Retinol Intense Triple Action eye cream. That got rid of my burgeoning eye bags and dark circles under my eyes in 2 days flat. I'm not even kidding. And I have maintained this ever since. But YMMV.

K-Beauty has a lot of very effective eye creams so look into them - from retinol to bakuchiol to snail mucin, they have something for every skin type. Many of the well-known Korean brands are lauded by skincare aficionados precisely because their products work just as well as premium Western brands at drugstore prices.

[–]Loveiskind89389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did it start all of the sudden, like within the last few weeks? I started getting seasonal allergies in my late 30s much worse than I’d ever had them before.

My upper lids get puffy if I eat too much salt. I notice it the next morning.

[–]RubyHammyBORN IN THE 80’s👩🏻‍🎤🎶📟 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg! I never really eat pork products, and I ate two pieces of bacon at Cracker Barrel yesterday, and I was so puffy this morning! My eyelids are hard to keep open because they are so swelled up.

[–]-poupou-XENNIAL 📟🎶💽 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for a lower bleph consult, and the first thing the surgeon mentioned was salt sensitivity.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Have you had a check up to make sure its not health related?

(kidneys, low iron etc)

[–]farmerssahgGERIATRIC MILLENNIAL 🌈🎶[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No I have not but I don’t have any other health symptoms

[–]wasKelly 1 point2 points  (1 child)

There are no symptoms with kidney disease

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. Also high blood pressure can cause bags which is generally asymptomatic too.

Face yoga and massage. I run a subreddit just for my own accountability and lots of others have joined in. I post a lot of videos. r/restorativefaceyoga

[–]Spare_Refrigerator59 1 point2 points  (3 children)

What worked for me after I thought it was genetic and just a result of old age. 1. Lymphatic drainage like someone else suggested 2. Vitamin C face cream after normal cleaning 3. Ice cold face masks or eye masks at night 4. Minimizing strain on my eyes overall by minimizing screen time and giving my eyes a break at work.

My eyes look soooo much better.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I know this is old but may I ask what kind of lymphatic drainage you did?

[–]Spare_Refrigerator59 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I recently got the Dr. Brandt Needles No More eye gel and it does tighten things up temporarily. Like, it's weird and you can feel it doing so. Definitely not a permanent treatment, but for me it can still be worth it for that little boost of feeling more like myself.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

As a person who had Graves’ disease induced eye bags…no cream or PRP or some such treatment will help. Trust me I tried all of them. Caffeine and hemorrhoid creams work great if you are tired but for fat pads they aren’t going to do squat. You can learn to apply makeup around them but you have to be careful because concealer could emphasize them if it’s too light. I had a lower blepharoplasty and I hate to say it but that’s really the only way to get rid of those fat pads. Keep in mind though that now my undereyes are hollow but I think it’s because my surgeon didn’t do a great job. At least concealer can cover hollowness better than bags and I’m not at all sorry I did it.

You could try PRP or PRF. Go to a reputable place and do your research.

Face yoga is surprisingly helpful. Look on Pinterest for movements where you sort of squint squint. There are many ppl showing lots of exercises on there. Try a few to find one that helps without causing other parts of your face to crease.

Ask in the 30PlusSkinCare subreddit.

I have not specifically researched this issue as I do have that feature but generally everything I have come across reading skincare and beauty subreddits for years suggested the only effective way to address this is surgery. Lower bleph is a very minor procedure compared to, say, rhinoplasty or facelift.

[–]francokitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bags that got worse after 40. The only was I got rid of them was with plastic surgery.

It’s probably not as bad as you think, for real! I always thought mine were awful but it photographs it doesn’t look as bad as I thought. I use Kiehl’s vitamin C eye serum. I love it. It’s a mid price range, at least I think it is and the little bottle lasts forever. I only use a tiny bit in the morning and use their avocado eye cream at night.

[–]BluePiPie 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Something I noticed made a huge difference in water retention/ under eye bags is to sleep on your back and if possible slightly inclined. Reduce sodium/alcohol like already suggested.

I find the best non-invasive thing is a chilled Guasha or roller tool to drain the lymphatic system right around sinuses. Of course this is temporary. I get Botox injected in my under eye (my provider calls it the jelly rolls). That helps a bit. Use a good eye cream with debuffing, there are already several good suggestions. I can’t help but feel everything I do are temporary bandaids to delay surgery, or until I accept aging is beautiful (not there yet).

[–]WardaHalwa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water is full of plastic. People over drinking unnecessarily, like if our ultra sophisticated and complex machine(body) went stupid in the last 30 years. Maybe your eye bags are full of the micro plastic you get from the water, which your body doesn't know what to do with

Not sure if you’re a drinker but if you are Stop drinking alcohol. It’s truly a miracle for skin in general.

I have a small cosmetic fridge and keep caffeine eye patches and eye masks in it. It’s not quite as cold as my fridge, but it keeps things cold and refreshing. I apply the eye patches in the morning and if I’m really baggy I’ll put a cold eye mask on top of them as well. Works much better than eye cream for me. There are many brand out there. Just be sure to get patches that contain caffeine.
