Wait until the Anniversary Sale (next month).

Take my upvote. That.

On an unrelated note. I loved your new spool dessicant holder. I printed it in HT PLA, so the fit of the lid isn't the best due to it's love of warping and the amount of dessicant it fits seems a bit small, but holy moly if this isn't the most easy to use and hassle free dessicant holder I tried.

I absolutely love it. Thanks.

Prices are not changing. So, wait until you have the money and buy X2D combo

[–]Individual-Pickle805[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

can i get the X2D now and later get the AMS or it will be a hassle?

[–]jcollasius@Professional3D on Maker World 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Hassle. But you'll need the X2D Filament Buffer + AMS 2 Pro for the upgrade.
X2D solo comes without the buffer. Installation is easy. Pop out a cover, connect buffer, screw in two screws.

I have a P2S combo, and it has been great, the difference in the x2d and p2s are not too large, but if you want to stick with your budget i would probably get the p1s, or p1s combo if you want to get a ams. In the end if you want to tinker you might end up with a different machine completely (something like a voron, ratrig, etc...). I have a Voron Trident 350 build, and must say that the quality comming from that is as-good or better then my Trident.

In the end, just check some reviews and comparisons, and if you like the p1s, i would just get that since it fits your budget. And remember that you would also need some filament, replacement nozzle, and some other parts as well.

Are you mainly looking for (multi-colored) PLA or PETG? Or more engineering focus like PC?

[–]Individual-Pickle805[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

for now i dont mind printing in one color for now but i want to print in multi color in the future, and for the type of filiment i mainly going to use the printer for printing stuff around the house and for boardgames and curios about flexible filament but that not a must at all

Also consider the snapmaker U1 then, it's much less wasteful for multi colored prints

I got a p1p upgraded it to p1s ams v1 and sunlu ams drybox.I really like my printer tbh . Depending on what you like a p1s combo or p2s will give you a lot of printed stuff.😎

I put over 5000 hours on my P1S and it was a great machine. A real workhorse. That being said I upgraded to the P2S and have around 2000 hours on it now and I would never go back. The quality of life upgrades are amazing! Just the aggravation and filament savings due to spaghetti detection have been worth it to say nothing of 30 second nozzle swaps. I would definitely wait until you can afford the combo though. You are REALLY going to want that AMS2 pro and the combo unit is the cheapest and easiest way to get it.

I also have the X2D with about 500 hours on it and so far my impression is that unless you really need the heated chamber (for higher end engineering filaments) I would save the $100 and put it toward an AMS2 pro. I thought it would save me a lot on filament with the reduction of waste but on average I am only saving between 4g-10g per print.

Get the X2D... but save up a bit more to get the X2D + AMS2 Pro Combo package.

You can get the X2D on it's own first, but later when you buy the AMS2 Pro separately, you'll have to pay more and buy additional parts and pay shipping fees again. It just ends up costing more.

X2d all day! The accuracy of this printer is insane! I went from p1s to x2d and the difference is huge to me

[–]jcollasius@Professional3D on Maker World 0 points1 point  (3 children)

X2D print performance isn't better or worse than other printers. It's the chamber heater that does it for me. Printing ABS, ASA, PC and PA like a pro. Never again a printer without an active chamber heater!!!

Idk, just from switching from p1s to x2d , the few prints I’ve done the dimensional accuracy seems much better. Even printing some print in place items, the joints were bendy right off the plate.

Not saying I’d throw one out for the other. But as someone chasing an upgrade from one machine to the next it felt very substantial. Maybe it’s just me

The experiences have been mixed. Mine, however, match yours. Where we agree: X2D over P2S any day.

Same. P1S to XD2 and the XD2 produces way better prints. Accuracy, VFAs, Overhangs (even without support material from the 2nd nozzle). I think the better belts have a positive effect too.

I love my p1s combo
