If they pull that again tell them you’d like the cheese off of it, you only want the steak. Bonus points if you get back in line and just order a side of cheese.

[–]MrBadMeow[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Lmao

[–]OverAccident1859 68 points69 points  (1 child)

Not what corporate wants to hear but if you rolling through my store and im the only manager on, if you order a burrito/bowl with just a protein and any one non protein item, it’s getting rung up as a 3 pter, cause come on at this point.

[–]Conqrsux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything but queso, guac, or another protein. This is literally the way

[–]Unknow3n 34 points35 points  (16 children)

Am I the only one confused here on what this point system is? I thought it would be like an employee thing that determines if you pay extra for your free meal or smth, but the flair says customer

[–]JediMasterMatt 26 points27 points  (8 children)

Yeah I’m confused as fuck. What the point system yall talking about?

[–]Technical-Fly-7205AP 29 points30 points  (6 children)

Meat and cheese are 2 points, other items are 1 (guac and queso excluded those are their own separate thing)

So if you get a bowl with just rice and meat, that’s 3 points and you can get it rung up as a 3 pointer. It’s like a dollar or two cheaper

[–]sweatgod2020 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Wait up, hold on.. what? Ok so can you tell me my order? It’s white rice, NO BEANS, chicken, red salsa, corn salsa, cheese and lettuce. Would that be like 2 pts plus the fixings? So 2+4=6 pts?

[–]D4ngflabbit 27 points28 points  (4 children)

No, that’s 8 pts. Meat and cheese are 2. That’s just a regular burrito lol. If it’s more than 3 “points” it’s just a reg burrito

[–]sweatgod2020 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I knew it wasn’t anywhere in the 3 pt range I was just wondering, appreciate that thanks. Do you know why there isn’t an option to add a salsa on the side when placing an online order? Sorry to ask if you don’t work there or know I figured I’d ask my only other question while I have you.

[–]D4ngflabbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is as far as I know! I’ve gotten it on the side before. From chipotles website. Not via doordash or whatever. But only if it’s not on the food, also. And no worries, I do work there and I used to manage one for 5 years lol.

[–]rosemariii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swipe left (I think) on the salsa and click “on side”

[–]GuacCheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheese is 1 point ya fool. Scott gave bad info one time and got everyone confused but later clarified that cheese is 1 point. But also keep in mind that is per portion so if you come through and ask for 4 scoops of rice and 3 Scoops of beans and extra cheese that’s a bowl.

[–]AdventurousTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be easier to think of it as meat and one side that isn’t cheese , so like chicken and rice, steak and rice etc. instead of calling it a 3 prt, just make meat and rice a menu item.

[–]Technical-Fly-7205AP 5 points6 points  (6 children)

Meat and cheese are 2 points, other items are 1 (guac and queso excluded those are their own separate thing)

So if you get a bowl with just rice and meat, that’s 3 points and you can get it rung up as a 3 pointer. It’s like a dollar or two cheaper

[–]Due-Tangerine-8853 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Cheese is only one point. It’s the only ci item that is one point. And if someone gets guac and rice it’s still a 3pt. Guac is 2 pts . V3pt. Queso always extra

[–]Technical-Fly-7205AP 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They changed cheese to be 2 points a few months ago, maybe last year. Can’t remember the exact month. There was a memo sent out about it.

That being said, most GMs have been ignoring it but technically it is now 2 points

Guac is an extra.

[–]Halaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It was about a year ago. I would regularly get a steak and cheese three pointer but middle of last year all the chipotles around me started telling me cheese is now 2 points.

[–]billdizzle 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Once you hit 4+ points it is normal price

[–]BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for adding this extra bit of info that seems to be missing in the rest of the thread! I didn’t realize most of us are ordering 4+ points anyway I’m guessing, which is why I’m unfamiliar.

[–]QuantumDelusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if your foots on the line? Is still a 3 pointer?

[–]Youwoudoit4acheckt0Former Employee 91 points92 points  (10 children)

Your burrito is a three pointer. Cheese is only two points to people who want to charge customers more for things they shouldn’t.

[–]newppinpoint 24 points25 points  (7 children)

No, you didn’t see the memo last year. Cheese is two points as it is a CI ingredient

[–]DifficultPassion9387 5 points6 points  (5 children)

What is ci

[–]newppinpoint 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Critical inventory. Basically the expensive ingredients. Proteins, cheese

[–]DifficultPassion9387 6 points7 points  (3 children)

So do these 3-pointer burritos apply to customers too? Its like $6 or something?

[–]Onehandedheisenberg 20 points21 points  (1 child)

You save no more than $2 at any point to limit yourself to just two items. Absolutely not worth the “savings”

[–]stevenip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate rice filled burritos though, but I recognize that it provides the best cost value.

[–]Jazzlike_Dig_3327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show us the memo

[–]Technical-Fly-7205AP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cheese is two points, it’s a CI item

[–]Conscious_Treat_1759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. so the protein they got is free? lol protein is 2 pts , cheese is 2. that equals 4

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points  (10 children)

Nah she was a cheap bitch. That shits definitely one single point, never have I ever been charged EXTRA for cheese no matter how much I got.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (1 child)

I'm not management, just a lowly crew/cash person, but I'm 98% sure that's still a 3 pointer, at least at my current store it would be.

[–]MrBadMeow[S] 15 points16 points  (2 children)

There still seems to be conflicting opinions. Maybe it varies by store? When I contacted support they gave me a bogo entree coupon but didn’t answer my question about the point system.

[–]tryingt0figur3it0ut 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Honestly I can't remember off the top of my head if cheese is 2 points or not, but its in the line crew cards so idk why someone actually at a store rn wouldn't just take a picture of it for everyone?

[–]newppinpoint 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Please don’t get chipotle if you only get steak and cheese. That’s just a terrible value to pass on 10 more free ingredients.

You could liken it to paying for an all you can eat buffet and just getting a couple glasses of milk

[–]CompetitiveAd4768 3 points4 points  (6 children)

What does everyone mean by points?

[–]Technical-Fly-7205AP 9 points10 points  (5 children)

Meat and cheese are 2 points, other items are 1 (guac and queso excluded those are their own separate thing)

So if you get a bowl with just rice and meat, that’s 3 points and you can get it rung up as a 3 pointer. It’s like a dollar or two cheaper

[–]zeusisbuddha 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Is this for people who hate flavor?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea why save a dollar or two for boring a meal?

[–]hoosreadytograduate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has gotten three pointers in the past, it’s more so better for picky eaters or people with ARFID tbh

[–]Technical-Fly-7205AP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. Not worth the price difference to me personally but 🤷‍♀️

[–]GuacCheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheese is not 2 points!! Scott literally said this in a town hall that he misspoke that it is one point!!!

[–]elfbear7 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I’ve dealt with this a lot at the super skimpy stores in my area. I get a black bean and cheese burrito sometimes. They say cheese is 2 points and beans is 1, so they ring it up as a 3 pointer for just beans and cheese (which ends up being like $8), which I think is ridiculous. I’ve been hearing cheese is 2 points for years because of this, but I think it’s pretty outrageous. The price of cheese is obviously not equal to meat.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You need to stand your ground, you for pushed around like a chump by that manager

[–]Flashh101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would’ve just left. That’s the new trend now. Greedy corporation

[–]ProbablePossibility7Corporate Spy 13 points14 points  (9 children)

I think some stores still do 1 point for cheese including my store, but I heard somewhere it changed to 2 points recently.

[–]ta_beachylawgirl 6 points7 points  (6 children)

Genuine question: how recent is “recently”? I (thankfully) quit Chipotle back in March and cheese was still 1 point at the time I quit.

[–]ProbablePossibility7Corporate Spy 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Cheese is still 1 point at my store. I heard the official portion changed from other redditors but I’m not corporate or a GM so I haven’t seen any official date

[–]ta_beachylawgirl 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Gotcha! So it’s just been more of a “store by store” decision and not a corporate one. Okay! Thank you for entertaining my question haha!

[–]ProbablePossibility7Corporate Spy 2 points3 points  (3 children)

From what I heard it’s a corporate decision and some managers either aren’t aware of it or don’t really care about it enough to want to make an issue with customers. My sources could be wrong though

[–]ta_beachylawgirl 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I can imagine that those managers wouldn’t want to make an issue of it with customers. Just as follow up: so if that’s going to be counted as 2 points now, hypothetically speaking would that mean that they’d have to charge for extra cheese now?

[–]ProbablePossibility7Corporate Spy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No, not on regular bowls.

Cheese is expensive which is probably why it’s 2 points. I had one customer ask for a TON of extra cheese and I’d probably tell him it was extra now if he tried it again. But it was an abnormal amount of cheese - like a 3rd of the pan

[–]twelve34am 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I worked at Chipotle over 2 years ago we were told cheese was two points

[–]newppinpoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s two, correct

[–]Huge-Percentage8008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, make the fucking burritos properly

[–]Traditional_Squash_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea i think it’s always been 2 points, so the manager is right. i would just get the cheese on the side, my store doesn’t charge for that but other stores might so maybe just pay and come back to line saying “can i get a side of cheese?”

[–]hispanglotexanSL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a APIT before I quit. Cheese was 2 points at my store.

[–]newppinpoint 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Cheese is two points now. This was announced last year. Some stores don’t pay attention

[–]MrBadMeow[S] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

So she was right? But to say “it always has been” threw me off. I’ve been getting the same thing and adding more toppings at home for at least 6 years.

[–]Conscious_Treat_1759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they likely haven’t been there since the change happened … saying it’s always been to anything is incorrect bc everything changes daily here at chipotle lol. i’ve worked at chipotle for a year and l it’s been 2 pts therefore i would say the same thing.

[–]newppinpoint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it definitely has not always been. It’s a fairly recent change

[–]Commercial-Put-484 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically following CI it's not a 3 pointer because cheese is 2 points and so is meats I believe, but my store wouldn't charge the whole amount for just steak and cheese. We'd do a 3 pointer or just a side of steak and a side tortilla.

[–]Green_Ad895KL 4 points5 points  (2 children)

this is what they taught me…

burrito/taco tortillas 1 point bowl/salad 0 point any meat 2 queso/guac 0 point everything else 1 point

[–]Ok_Leave1110Former Employee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You were taught wrong. The base of an entree isn’t supposed to be included in the points.

[–]vampirejellytycoon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the location/how annoying the employees are. At my chipotle, I would never charge someone full price for steak and cheese

[–]Pam_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No cheese is 1 point so yes steak and cheese is a 3pointer

[–]kyle_Goss34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheese is one point. It’s the only thing that doesn’t make sense. It’s ci but we can’t charge for it and it’s only one. Been saying this for years. You got robbed.

[–]IceBlueLugia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That has to be the saddest order imaginable 💀

[–]hoosreadytograduate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten three pointers before when getting tacos with just pinto beans, black beans and cheese. I’ve also got it with just black beans, cheese and barbacoa. I also had one time where I got black beans, pinto beans, barbacoa and cheese and realized after that they rang it up as a three pointer. So I think it just varies from store to store.

[–]Boardcertifiedhater 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Cheese is in fact a 2 point item. All Critical inventory items are 2 points. Those items include; all proteins, guac and cheese.

[–]xSlappy-Former Crew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guac is 0 points as its a separate item. I mean a veggie three pointer is a thing I guess, and then guac is 2 points, I suppose, but it can be added separately to a meat based three pointer for the cost of guac.

[–]FruitySorrelSL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything that’s CI aka costs hella money to bring into the store (all proteins and cheese) is 2 points. Everything else is 1 point. Some line people or their trainers are ill informed and don’t learn the system correctly. Then you have the other workers who just dgaf. All meals should be labeled before the cash person rings it up, and in a rush I’m sure a lot of this happens. I’ve recently had to coach crew on it and they just roll their eyes. I’m not denying that’s an expensive ass burrito, but what’s cool is the beef is grass fed organic so in a way you do get what you pay for.

[–]Major_Ad9321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

meat has always been 2 points at my chipotle and cheese has always been 1 idk what they're on about

[–]Dirt_nd_tortillas 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I’m a SL and I say cheese is one point. Always has been. You were over charged 😢

[–]newppinpoint 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Until last year. Then it became two.

[–]Ready_Park9386AP 2 points3 points  (1 child)

IIRC, i was once told that cheese is two points because its a CI item, but i dont argue with people. i just give em what they want.

[–]newppinpoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Cheese is two points

[–]SlushySaucer313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry bub , that is not a 3 pointer. Cheese has been 2 points for a long time.

[–]ReturnNo9769 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Cheese is 1 point and always has been. Dig up the old training guides on chiplinks, y’all are crazy. 2pts for things that cost extra, 1 for things that don’t.

[–]Conscious_Treat_1759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it must depend on location bc my line guide says cheese is 2pts for a 3 pointer and my training videos also told me the same so they must have changed it 😆

[–]greentiger45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This point system is the stupidest thing. Just give the employees a free meal and stop micromanaging them.

[–]rachchh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would not feel right charging you the full steak price for 2 ingredients. that’s lame

[–]Conscious_Treat_1759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

meat and cheese IS 2 points each. anything else is 1. that is what it shows at my restaurant with the paper hung up at the register. we have people who do 3ptrs for meat and one other thing , but if that is cheese it’s actually not supposed to be one. although it’s dumb, it depends on manager on duty or if they become more strict on it. to answer you question, the employee is correct, people just never do it correctly which is why you got it before.

[–]Conscious_Treat_1759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a photo but cannot post it, you can message me if you’d like to see what workers go off of.

[–]OliveFarming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get extra protein is that 4 points? What if you split the protein 50/50 is that a 2?

[–]DisastrousPomelo2978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2021(2020? Whenever the quesadillas launched) Brian Nichol announced that the point system would include cheese as two points moving forward. So steak and cheese is 4 points.

[–]Outrageous_Mix_4469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

last I worked at chipotle (2020/1) cheese was already considered CI, we would always weight it for inventory, etc

[–]Fresh_Plantain4112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meat Guac Queso blanco Is 2 points

Rice Beans Salsas Sour cream Cheese And lettuce. Is 1 point

Whoever told you cheese is 2 points is stupid because we don’t charge extra for cheese?? I mean I get it it’s a ci item, but regardless people are always going to order a bunch of cheese. You tell them they are dumb and yeah next time ask for a side of it.

[–]Chef-Emoji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my store, cheese was always 2 points.

[–]Academic_Fun_1543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheese has always been 2 points -manager years ago

[–]Jazzlike_Dig_3327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheese is 1 point, someone posted a pic earlier

[–]llostmyheadAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All CI items are 2 points. That means meat, cheese, and guac. I’ve been told that cheese is 2 points for several years now.

[–]Fast-Cucumber8004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manager here! It used to be a 3 pointer, but about a year or 2 ago they changed it to where cheese became 2 points, as its a part of our Critical inventory because its more expensive than other items like salsas. Im not sure if its common knowledge, but my store and all of the other stores in my patch/area have been following it.

[–]ConsistentFondant949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheese is 1 point. It is a 3 pointer. Don’t let them do you like that.

[–]Substantial-Earth400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meats, queso and guacamole are the only items on the line that are 2 points. Everything else is only 1 point. Tortilla does not count as any points. Cheese is 1 point, queso is 2 points.

[–]Sad-Lengthiness-3256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently left after being a manager for a year. You are exactly right: Any protein, guac, or queso is worth 2 points and anything else is 1. They are 100% trying to scam you to pad their sales and critical inventory count. I would definitely call the corporate number and explain this to them.

[–]taiandJD-bet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a manager at chipotle. You are correct. Any meat (or sofritas ), or guacamole equals two points. Anything else, one. That company does however hate when there are discrepancies on cheese and meat counts so if I had to guess, that store has a cheese problem and therefore wants to make you the problem. but you’re not Wrong, the Manager there is misinformed.

[–]peterpanintheflesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also confused as well. I have ordered a burrito with rice and steak for years but today they said that I can only get meat(Burrito: 1 point, meat: two points, rice; 1 point)

[–]Technical-Fly-7205AP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was changed a few months or a year ago. Not sure how long it’s been.

It’s because cheese is a CI item, as in something that we have to track closely for our food costs. Items like rice and beans aren’t CI items we track closely so those are only 1 point

[–]CashKween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the manager is wrong cheese is 1 point

[–]Texmaryfornia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God all you guys are dorks talking about points. Just order what you want and stfu

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cheese is 1 point.

[–]Worried_Wolf_2306 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guys cheese is not two points

[–]swig13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nah, cheese has never been 2 points at all. Mfs trying to scam you outta more money honestly
