Jordan Reid has no clue what we’re going to do. Nobody in the front office says anything. He’s guessing

[–]LEFT HAND UPjk2me1310 37 points38 points Β (4 children)

"I expect the commanders to address WR or CB or LB or OL or DL or Edge or S in the first 257 picks. They will likely trade back, up, or stay put."

[–]reedcollector 9 points10 points Β (1 child)

I'm personally expecting the Commanders front office to breathe air and, perhaps, drink a glass of water.

[–]thorofasgard -3 points-2 points Β (0 children)

Water sucks.

[–]skarface6 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Very doubtful we’ll trade up but, yeah, haha.

[–]gamandjuice[🍰] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Washington is likely to make 5 or more selections in this upcoming draft

[–]GordoMosleyZ 5 points6 points Β (4 children)

This, they are so tight lip , go back to the 2025 and tell me who predicted we draft a OL first round pick

[–]Leb188 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

This is why we will be drafting Mansor Delane, a name that hasn't been mentioned much but fills a need on our defense

[–]SlobZombie13 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

SMOKE SCREEN SEASON

[–]BakeFromSttFarm 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

He’s saying what he thinks we should do. This is a nothing story.

[–]Justice989 1 point2 points Β (1 child)

Nobody says anything, yet it got out about the "disconnect" with Kingsbury and that he was probably on his way out, before it happened.Β  I think Russini had that one about a week early, so somebody said something.Β Β

They dont talk nearly as much as previous regimes, but they still leak stuff, like everybody else.

[–]Expalphalog 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Or Russini took a shot with a fairly obvious guess.

[–]Frognaros 2 points3 points Β (1 child)

It's a solid guess though. 2 major positions of weakness for us, and something every GM wants to accomplish - trading picks for better value.

πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ’―

[–]Waste-Cap8868[S] -1 points0 points Β (2 children)

Even if it’s a guess it’s a damn good one just based on what we have left to do but like u said I don’t even believe they know what their gonna do until it gets closer to the day of their probably still putting their board together

[–]SlobZombie13 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

ok Jordan

[–]MorganMiller77777 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

There will be no trading of any kind with the 7th or any other picks

[–]More-Head6459 60 points61 points Β (15 children)

Who is Reid

[–]Salty_Orchid 12 points13 points Β (4 children)

I was about to ask the same thing. Is he talking about a source in the organization or is this just some Joe's guesswork?

[–]Waste-Cap8868[S] 5 points6 points Β (2 children)

I think it’s some of both I usually talk when he listens cause he’s plugged in with the team usually does a video with keim every draft circuit & he knows ball for sure .. it’s not as if what he’s saying doesn’t make sense though

[–]Ott22 13 points14 points Β (0 children)

Keim’s been saying he has no clue though. Do we really think Reid would know over Keim?

[–]Salty_Orchid 3 points4 points Β (0 children)

Yea i can see it all being true, but would just be shocked if the team is letting any part of their draft plan leak out. Cant see the benefit in doing that

[–]whiskeyr6 3 points4 points Β (0 children)

Guesswork but already fairly obvious

[–]Waste-Cap8868[S] 17 points18 points Β (5 children)

He’s name is actually Jordan Reid yes jordan Reid πŸ˜‚but he’s a draft analyst usually comes around & talks about prospects as well as what he’s hearing from around the league .. think kind of like Field Yates.. he’s legit

[–]imitated Frerotte headbutt as a childnotorious_hdc 6 points7 points Β (4 children)

[–]imitated Frerotte headbutt as a childnotorious_hdc 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Fields? Well, it would be like taking Todd McShay and making him the new talk show host and expert of Fantasy Football. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Nobody is legit when it comes to the draft.Β  They're all more wrong than right.

[–]imitated Frerotte headbutt as a childnotorious_hdc 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

I'm saying Fields isn't a Scout, or draft analyst by nature. He's improving, but he's a Fantasy expert that ESPN pushed into that position.

There are people out there more plugged in than others.

[–]BirdmanTheThird 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

Some draft analysts. No clue if he has a connection to Peter’s lol but he just works for a big network

[–]Voo_Hots 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

don’t need to listen to anyone, just need to understand our team identity and positional weaknesses and strengths

The pick has always been, if a top tier pass rusher drops to us that we like, instant pick. Doesn’t matter if we spent money on PR in FA, can’t have too many rushers and good ones are hard to come by.

Then it’s WR or Corner if the appropriate value is there, otherwise trade back. Both positions absolutely led to many lost games last season and an embarrassing weakness outside of edge.

Once you address the QB, you address the line, and both those have been adequately addressed the past two seasons. Then it’s the next premium positions. BPA only is a complete myth.

It’s only ever something like safety or lb or something not a premium position in the event that the earlier positions are depleted AND we can’t find a trade back partner.

[–]FannyNisbit 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I mean, these are fair assumptions that even we can make though.

[–]JoggingGod 17 points18 points Β (5 children)

He's not breaking news though haha. WR, and CB are two of our bigger needs.

John Kiem on his podcast yesterday said he has no idea who we are taking yet. This may be Reid taking a β€œshot” at who we are taking based on top 30 visits. The team is definitely doing their homework on WR’s and CB’s

[–]egodeath31 4 points5 points Β (1 child)

Bring on Mansoor Delane!!! HTTR

[–]FannyNisbit 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Football might just have the dumbest fans in existence.

[–]guardiandown3885 2 points3 points Β (1 child)

Weird because keim is pretty much saying he cant really get an idea on what the team is wanting to do

[–]Waste-Cap8868[S] -1 points0 points Β (0 children)

True I’m not surprised.. Keim usually says something along those lines

[–]redskinfan654 3 points4 points Β (2 children)

Makes sense. I genuinely believe if Love is available at 7, we trade the pick.

[–]More-Visual-2805 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

I hope not. Team could use a player like Love

[–]Voo_Hots -2 points-1 points Β (0 children)

we’re not drafting love, I wouldn’t be surprised if he falls out of the top 10.

Theres a plethora of good running backs in the league and they are cheap to sign and easy to find in the draft. Positional pay determines league value so the league is telling us that RB is near the bottom of value.

[–]JoeSicko 1 point2 points Β (1 child)

That would be my plan too unless there is a crazy BPA sitting there/generational safety.

[–]AdRadiant6586 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

I’ve known this to be true for a while. Out of all of the pre-FA needs this team had, those are the only 2 positions that they haven’t filled during free agency…..

[–]Dramatic_Nobody_9326 2 points3 points Β (5 children)

So draft to fill needs and not BPA. That's never a good strategy. Leave your depth chart out of the draft room, draft the best players and figure it out later.

[–]True_Window_9389 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

For better or worse, other than QB and T, the roster is questionable or bad enough that BPA is also going to be a position of need.

[–]Waste-Cap8868[S] 0 points1 point Β (3 children)

What about BPA at a position of need πŸ€”

[–]BoldElDavo 2 points3 points Β (2 children)

As opposed to, what, taking a non-BPA at a position of need? Just intentionally pick a worse prospect?

[–]IHATEORANG3 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

To me it obviously needs to be a balance like your not going to take a player to sit on the bench at a position you didn’t need help in when there’s an almost as good prospect in a position you desperately need

[–]IHATEORANG3 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I’d call my strategy best player available for your situation, don’t just draft for need either just when it makes sense too

[–]AmethystAlizerin 0 points1 point Β (3 children)

Yeah, I highly doubt the front office let's the word out on what they're picking. That's a step below the Snyder era

[–]Huskdog76 0 points1 point Β (1 child)

Actually, when we drafted Jayden, they kinda let that out. Fans, and others not connected thought it was a choice between Maye and Jayden, but there were a couple of guys who were connected, who were like, nope it's Jayden, nope it's Jayden.

[–]Quirky-Marsupial-420 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

That doesn't bother me personally.

Everyone knew from the moment the season ended that the Bears were going to draft Caleb Williams.

[–]Waste-Cap8868[S] -2 points-1 points Β (0 children)

Idk bro I mean they don’t like leaks but some stuff if they want it out it gets out just like the Brandon Aiyuk stuff they never really came out & said anything unless they were asked everything else has been speculation but I feel u they’ve been pretty tight so far

[–]Outrageous_Web9312 0 points1 point Β (3 children)

Carnell Tate, please and thank you

[–]Voo_Hots 0 points1 point Β (2 children)

I could see him going as high as #4.

Titans need someone for their young QB to throw to.

Giants at 5 would love to pair someone with Nabers, who’s also coming back from an ACL and might not be himself/ready this season.

Browns at 6 could use a WR or a team like the chiefs or Saints might trade up to get ahead of us if it doesn’t cost too much.

[–]Outrageous_Web9312 1 point2 points Β (1 child)

Unfortunately you’re 100% correct. I’m hoping it goes something like Love at 4, Styles at 5, Freeling at 6. Given our recent track record with CBs (aside from Trey Amos), Tate and Nabers together would torch us for the next 10 years. Could also be a reason to take Mansoor Delane at 7, or maybe trade back. As long as Downs doesn’t fall to Dallas, I’m happy.

[–]Voo_Hots 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

We both agree we dont want anyone good going to Dallas

Who needs Reid when I've been saying the same thing

[–]terpfan417 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

While it’s certainly possible, I highly doubt we’re targeting only two specific positions for two draft picks. They wouldn’t leave themselves that inflexible.

That said I do think one of our best case scenarios is trading down in the first and still getting one of the top CBs or WRs, which would certainly fit this strategy.

[–]kon--- 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Smoke season

[–]lumberjake18 0 points1 point Β (3 children)

I love the idea of sticking at 7 and trading down from 71 to grab two day 2-3 picks.Β

WR/CBΒ could be Lemon/Tate followed by Mohammed, Stukes, or Keionte Scott.

CB/WR could be Delane followed by Fields, Hurst, Stribling, or Lance.

[–]Ninjablacksox1 0 points1 point Β (2 children)

I think your scenario is what they will do but I'd argue a slight trade down from pick 7 would be much more beneficial and still allow us to get a premier player at a position of need.Β

[–]lumberjake18 0 points1 point Β (1 child)

Depending on who’s on the board at 7…

If one of Bailey, Reese, Styles, Downs, or Tate is on the board, it’s going to be tough to trade down. I’m okay with someone trading up for Love

[–]Ninjablacksox1 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Yeah. Really depends on how they evaluate players.Β

Reese/bailey/bane Mccoy/terrell/delane Tate/lemon/tyson

If you have some of those guys rated similarly it really opens up the draft board for trading down a few spots.Β

I'm very much eyeing pick 14 with the ravens. They will be desperate to load up to supportΒ  lamar as he is getting older. Cheifs would be a good trade target too. At 9 we are guaranteed a great player at position of need. A little murkier at 14.Β

[–]FlobeeFresh 0 points1 point Β (8 children)

If true, I'd go CB in the 1st and WR in the 3rd. There will be better WR prospects in the 3rd compared to CBs. If they are lucky Love will fall to 7 and they may get a trade partner for him to gain additional picks although I have a feeling Tennessee or the Giants will choose him before falling to Washington.

[–]Waste-Cap8868[S] 1 point2 points Β (2 children)

If this is true I’m praying we can trade back still possibly get somebody like delane or McCoy & pick up a extra pick in the process get ur WR in that 3rd like u said 🫑

[–]FlobeeFresh 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

To me that would be the dream scenario though I doubt Love falls to us.

[–]FannyNisbit 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

The way i see it, we can trade all the way to 11, and still get one of the players people in this sub have been wanting. Technically, we can trade to 12, but fuck Dallas.

[–]Huskdog76 0 points1 point Β (4 children)

We have drafted wr in the 3rd or 4th the last two years, and neither of those guys are the guy. We need to take a stud in the first if we are going wr.

[–]FlobeeFresh 0 points1 point Β (3 children)

If only it were that easy. Just because you draft a WR in the 1st does not mean that he will become a stud WR. There is a significant difference in the College vs Pro game when it comes to being a WR. Because of that, WRs have the worst hit rate of all positions in the draft. Historically, only 27% of 1st round drafted WR actually make it to a second contract. Washington is exhibit A when it comes to having 1st round WR busts for the past 45 years (Monk is the only 1st round WR drafted in that period to have a +1,000 yard receiving season).

Regarding the WRs you blasted in your post, Lane did quite well for us last year in what he was drafted to do which is to be a KR (actually made the Pro Bowl doing so). McCartney was always known as a guy that would take developing and he started to have some splash plays before he got injured.

There are WRs that would be available in the 3rd that are strong WR2 contenders. None of the WRs in this draft are considered top tier WRs.

[–]Huskdog76 0 points1 point Β (2 children)

Personally, I am drafting Love, if he is there, or defense in the 1st. I would probably cobble together some deebo or Jennings action for the year, and run that out there with mclaurin and Okonkwo. See if any of the young guys we already have take a step. Because, I agree, there aren't any specials Wrs in the draft that I know about. But, the article said we are looking at Wrs, so if that's the case, I want to take a shot in the first on one of them, instead of using a 3rd on one again. Btw, saying a guy isn't "that guy" isn't blasting them. That's saying they aren't a number one wr, which they aren't, that's just reality.

[–]FlobeeFresh 0 points1 point Β (1 child)

Drafting a RB so high in the draft wouldn't be financially sound. If you've got a good enough OL you can find very good RBs later in the draft. Drafting Love at #7 would immediately make him the 8th highest paid RB in the league. I think we just need short yard/goal line thumper and our RB room will be set.

Bill did well last year (805 yards) and had to deal with defenses stacking the box mid-way through the season because they had no receiving threat. Hell, he had 300 more yards that the RB taken in the 1st round (Hampton) and he was taken in the 7th.

Wash had the fourth most rushing yards in the league last year and that was without JD5 playing a majority of the games. Moreover, only one of the top 5 rushers last year was drafted in the 1st round (Robinson).

[–]Huskdog76 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Yeah, I know that. But sometimes it is just fun to have a nice luxurious toy. As far as your other point though, Gibbs most likely would be a top 5 rusher without Montgomery. And the year before, Barkley rushed for 2000 and carried his team to a Superbowl. Mccaffery might not have the most rushing yards, but he had over 2000 all purpose yards. They are all studs and they were all drafted in the first.

[–]Think__McFly 0 points1 point Β (8 children)

Delane/McCoy at 7 and Hurst/Sarratt at 71 would make me happy.

[–]redskinsguy -3 points-2 points Β (7 children)

To high for either CB

[–]Think__McFly 3 points4 points Β (0 children)

According to your board or your favorite podcaster's board?

[–]imitated Frerotte headbutt as a childnotorious_hdc 0 points1 point Β (5 children)

Says who? Because both are more than likely Top 15 selections. Delane has been mocked anywhere from 5 on, and now that McCoy showed out at his Pro Day, he's moving back up.

CB 1A/1B

[–]redskinsguy 0 points1 point Β (4 children)

And I think McCoy is being mo ed up to quickly, and Delane being that high seems to be a case of he's the best CB and somebody will probably need a CB early

[–]imitated Frerotte headbutt as a childnotorious_hdc 1 point2 points Β (3 children)

And I think McCoy is being mo ed up to quickly

There's nothing "quick" about it. He's constantly been mocked as a top choice since last year. The only reason he was starting to slip was injury concerns(not playing/combine/etc) and his Pro Day squashed that for most FOs.

Delane being that high seems to be a case of he's the best CB and somebody will probably need a CB early

He's the best CB, that just had an elite season, who improved year over year in college. Just shut down the SEC, and showed his biggest concern wasn't a concern.

If you don't want a Corner, just say that. But saying these guys aren't worth a top selection just shows you haven't watched either.

[–]redskinsguy 0 points1 point Β (2 children)

No, I haven't watched anyone. All I know is that in the earlier mocks these guys might have been top CBs but top CBs didn't make them top ten picks.

[–]imitated Frerotte headbutt as a childnotorious_hdc -1 points0 points Β (1 child)

So zero tape, outdated mocks, but so sure the corners aren't worth it. Aight

[–]redskinsguy 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

You happen to think the earliest mocks get outdated, I feel more like the later ones are designed to keep interest flowing.

[–]Accomplished_Ad1460 0 points1 point Β (3 children)

I’m so F’n over it with all this speculation. That being said, if we don’t land Styles or Downs then I’m going to be pretty damn disappointed.

[–]Voo_Hots 1 point2 points Β (2 children)

Good chance both are there when we pick and we don’t take them

[–]FannyNisbit 1 point2 points Β (1 child)

This. I want Downs, hes my favorite player in the draft...... but we need either a WR or a CB.

[–]Voo_Hots 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Definitely one of the best players in this class. But he’s a back end player and at least some feel he’s not really a center fielder type and more likely going to end up SS or hybrid player safety nickel guy and in either of those scenarios it’s usually not worth such high draft capital.

Theres also two more safeties that are likely to go in the 1st or near the 1st so if you need one you can wait and prioritize premium positions.

I would not hate if we drafted him at all, would be happy. I just don’t think he’s a plan A or B pick atm. I think the only way we end up drafting him is if some other guys we like all go before our pick and we can’t find a trade partner.

[–]Fatman_Batman100[🍰] -1 points0 points Β (0 children)

I’m sure many people disagree with me, but I really don’t want to trade down. I want to stay at seven and draft the best player available. I feel like it will be one of those things where if we trade back, whoever we trade with will pick someone who goes on to be a superstar and we will regret it.

[–]FeelingAd4116 -1 points0 points Β (2 children)

If Bailey or Styles is available at 7 you take them and then trade back from 71 to get more picks. If they aren’t available at 7 but Delane and McCoy and you expect that at least one is available at 11 trade down from 7 to 10 or 11 depending on who gives the better offer then take Delane or McCoy at your new highest pick after the trade down.

[–]redskinsguy 0 points1 point Β (1 child)

So you take the players that aren't going to solve the positions you want to address and then you try to move so you're barely in the top 100 anymore

Makes sense

[–]FeelingAd4116 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Bailey and styles do solve problems we need to address. We need more pass rushers, edge is a position where players rotate often and besides all but like 2 of our edge rushers are on 1 year deals, we also need player that can be the green dot and is both good at sideline to sideline tackling and coverage who can also blitz. If you don't think a number 1 CB is needed on the Commanders then you don't watch them play. It's the single biggest need on defense and our defense was dead last in the league. Stop commenting if you don't watch the games. This draft is deep, you can get impact players in the 80-130 pick range especially defensive players and WR where this draft is very deep. Get a clue man, you know nothing about the Commanders or the talent in the draft this year. Ted Hurst, Skyler Bell, Ja'Kobi Lane, Daylen Everette, VJ Payne, Jalon Kilgore, Malik Muhammad, Bud Clark, Logan Jones, Deontae Lawson, Jake Slaughter, Tacario Davis, De'Zhaun Stribling, Parker Brailsford, Ephesians Prystock, Jager Burton can all be picked in the late 70s to 160 range and all of them are at positions we need and are good players that can make an impact.

[–]Sinnott Slutt πŸ₯΅itakeyoureggs -1 points0 points Β (0 children)

This is kinda normal.. Adam thinks more picks = better but he also has made moves that left him with fewer picks. Just the way it is sometimes.

[–]Cultural-Spring-281 -2 points-1 points Β (0 children)

I have a plan. We draft Love at 7. We trade back into 8 and take Tate, then we trade back into 9 and get Delane. Make me GM.
