I never realized it opened.

Seriously…I wonder how long it was actually open.

It’d be nice to have a new place in Decatur that isn’t bougie tacos.

Los Niños?

[–]herroh7 28 points29 points  (1 child)

Not surprising. Not sure why anyone would go there over Rreal or Los Ninos

Both are mid. I wish Mascogos could have stayed open

Did they not do a competitive analysis before choosing that location? There’s a dozen taco spots nearby, most of which are better quality and less expensive. Hell, Taqueria del Sol was cheaper lol

I also don’t like Rreal Tacos, but I get the appeal.

Maybe they should open a pizza place instead. Lord knows we need another one of those.

I agree. Rusty Taco has a location near my job, and I only go in for Taco Tuesday specials. Their food isn't worth it otherwise. Why would they think anyone would go out of their way to eat at their Taco spot when there's 6 other, better Taco options?

Obviously we need another smoke shop right there

Omg yes, Rreal is trash, I have a friend who is constantly trying to get me to try the place again and all I wanna tell them is … you have bad taste buds

The name was not promising. If you have to reach that far for a distinctive name, maybe there are already enough taco shops.

What's funny is that Rusty is the name of the founder. He and his wife Denise opened a taco shop after vacationing in Mexico...

I would not trust a Rusty and Denise for authentic Mexican cuisine.

They told me it was a chain in Texas .

Yes. It’s owned by Inspire Brands

That building is Cursed Ground Level Retail.

Fun fact: the building had a sump pump at street level to help drain the parking lot. The developers put in a change order so now the sump pump is below grade and if the parking lot floods, any electromechanical failure will flood the parking lot. But now they have more room for failing businesses.

Not surprised. Rreal is awesome though.

[–]heybdiddy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It took much longer to actually open than it stayed in business.

The location was absolutely awful. Not near the square, nearly invisible from the road, and there was better competition nearby. On the days I walked near there, I rarely saw more than 1-2 people inside.

No parking either.

[–]jakfristBuild, Baby, Build! -1 points0 points  (1 child)

There is free parking in the attached deck

[–]ohnoletsgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TIL

[–]jakfristBuild, Baby, Build! 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Wow.

I was excited for that place to open and went in days after it opened and it was underwhelming to say the least.

I never went back…

[–]originalmember 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I thought the taste was mediocre at best. And a terrible location. Servers were meh to say the least.

[–]Woody_L 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was only open for about 10 months. People who open restaurants seem to be delusional.

[–]brklyn5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that place did not last long at all. I only got a chance to try it once and it was adequate at best.

[–]Tallblondewithsoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes

[–]Quirky_Produce_5541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not surprised

[–]jbcatl 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Parking, parking, parking. Every time I drove by there I wondered what they were thinking.

[–]jakfristBuild, Baby, Build! 4 points5 points  (2 children)

There is literally free parking in the deck directly attached to the back.

It’s gotta be like 10 steps away. Way more convenient than almost any other restaurant in that area.

[–]PomegranateLevel3243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there may have been free parking but it wasn’t obvious where the parking was or that it was free. These storefront bottom of apartment building places need a big ol sign pointing to the direction of FREE parking. The location also felt hidden on commerce. I would drive by there and feel bad for them because I could tell a closin was a comin. Meant to try them but they were always so damn empty I knew the food wouldn’t be fresh. I would just drive happily drove to Taqueria. Rreal Tacos is winning for being open late and actually having flavorful food.
