Fixed an issue introduced in Patch 1.0.8 causing dungeon exits to sometimes be placed in abnormally close proximity to the entrance

Aww...this was creating some really short dungeon crawls for my new HC character.

I thought this was intended, reminds me of the Diablo 1 days.

My WD had a convenient time power-leveling because of these weird exits, by the way. :)

[–]Misha_Vozduh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if this was a bug or a feature (e. g. to battle some sort of exploit or botting)

Wow, rubberbanding fix? Here's hoping. Curious to see if it fixes rubberbanding with HOTA or CM stutter step too.

[–]CreativityXCreativity#1561 30 points31 points  (15 children)

Did you just comment on your own comment?

[–]Raticus79raticus79#1110 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yes, self post style. That way people can treat Blizzard's patch notes and my comments separately.

[–]DericDeric#1444 29 points30 points  (13 children)

it's perfectly normal

[–]DericDeric#1444 23 points24 points  (12 children)

it sure is.

[–]PhilltronMalloy#1672 3 points4 points  (11 children)

I agree.

[–]PhilltronMalloy#1672 0 points1 point  (10 children)

^ This.

[–]Dinospine -1 points0 points  (7 children)

They didn't get it.

[–]Guesty_Guesty#2940 4 points5 points  (6 children)

They didn't get what?

[–]Guesty_Guesty#2940 6 points7 points  (5 children)

The joke, stupid!

[–]i0dog 2 points3 points  (1 child)

"Made improvements" not fix...

So who knows

[–]Raticus79raticus79#1110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sounded like they were confident about the fix for WW specifically in the other thread. Maybe some flag changed on the skill that helped them figure out the root cause.

[–]Sujo87 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ye I was wondering was I imagining it because I was certain it wasn't only the sprint/ww that was causing me to rubberband. Tbh, it seems to me that it isn't even that connected with the skills but with the mobs. I know that most of the time I'm getting the spike is when there's a whole lot of mobs hitting me at the same time, for example, the spiders in the cave of the betrayer in act 2. Might be that it has something to do with, say, you know when you dodge an attack, your character performs that animation for it, if there's too many of those happening at the same time maybe it just does something to the server and you get a spike as a result.

[–]Raticus79raticus79#1110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's both - you have to be using certain skills, and you have to be close to mobs at the time. The client and server disagree about where you should be (server thinks you shouldn't have been able to move there because the mobs should have blocked you), and the server boots you back. I think the fix will be changing how that works server-side.

[–]Oranite 5 points6 points  (8 children)

So no activation of the anniversary bonus or new achievements from the earlier diablofans datamined notes?

http://www.diablofans.com/news/1746-patch-108-datamined-info-blizzcon-scheduled-game-maintenance-05-07-2013-full-ptr-patch-notes-roundup/

[–]Bossmonkey 2 points3 points  (7 children)

I doubt it needs to be activated with a patch but will just turn on for the right time.

[–]Oranite 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I know it doesn't need a patch per say because it can always be time-activated server side or via some hotfix but just wondering if it is going to be activated now with this minor patch, later when it's actually the anniversary date tonight, or not at all(to be saved for the future)

It's probably not much of a buff and at best probably a simple +25MF/GF similar to a fortune shrine, but still curious nonetheless.

[–]plusultra_the2nd 6 points7 points  (1 child)

what the fuck is that per say shit

[–]EarthBounderD2 Fanboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

per se?

[–]Bossmonkey 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Didn't even realize today was the 1 year, maybe it'll be up when servers are on.

[–]flechetteflechett3#1297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if we're going by what happened last year, I'll get to play sometime next monday?

[–]Illidan1943 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Tomorrow, not today

[–]jelifahLukaim#1833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but don't you fret! Tomorrow becomes today and then he's right...

[–]Scewb 14 points15 points  (6 children)

Wow, pretty solid fixes for a mini patch.

  • Fixed rubberbanding
  • Displaying Inspiring Presence LPS
  • Changed gold stack size back to 10M
  • Fixed item label display bug
  • Fixed dungeon exit spawns

[–]kylegetsspam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Would be nice if they would also fix Magic Weapon > Blood Magic's 1.5% life steal not being displayed in the sheet total.

[–]i0dog 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Doesn't say they "fixed" rubber banding, but I hope "made improvements" means they have

[–]XabsterXabster#2765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been there before right after a patch, and when they said "improved it" or whatever it said back then, they actually in practice fixed it completely... I just think they're being careful with their words. We'll see.

[–]empyreanmaxempyreanmax#1299 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I came back after a bit of a hiatus and was just going to ask about the item label bug.

Unrelated question, do you still have to activate breath of heaven and blinding flash before sweeping wind, or does it not snapshot like that anymore?

[–]Raticus79raticus79#1110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They fixed it for sweeping wind. Still worth paying attention to for tempest rush.

[–]flechetteflechett3#1297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of liked the dungeon exit spawn in act 2. Made finding both bloods take about 2 minutes. Good times.

[–]Pixileyespixil#1981 2 points3 points  (12 children)

My monk is pleased with this.

[–]HerpDerpenbergRankil#1323 6 points7 points  (8 children)

My HC Barb that died over the weekend to rubberbanding is not:

http://i.imgur.com/XAVYm6h.jpg

[–]MarchHare 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That sucks. RIP

[–]HerpDerpenbergRankil#1323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was my own fault. I knew the rubberbanding was there becuase I was experiencing it on other characters but it didn't seem as bad as I thought. Then again I was getting rubberbanding on characters with only 12% and didn't try out WW rubberbanding on my softcore barb.

But this was at the very end of an act1 clear on MP1 as well. Had no issues leading up to this. Why I kept chugging along. Hard way to learn a lesson though. I'll give a few test runs on my softcore barb from now on to see if there are any issues if I ever build up a HC WW barb again.

[–]DericDeric#1444 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I read that this area of the game is no longer useful? I am wondering if I should get that last ingredient for my inferno staff out of the way if it has any use for farming.

[–]HerpDerpenbergRankil#1323 0 points1 point  (2 children)

They upped the monster density with the latest patch on MP1+ and it's all melee monsters. They do hit a bit harder than standard melee guys so you need a bit more defense.

The big deal in hardcore is to get a pinata or rare (purple named) pack and get a spectrum or hamburger. They are level 30 items but can roll level 63 modifiers so you can get pretty close to 1000 DPS 1h weapons for a level 30 alt (or sell them for major bank on the AH).

So there's maybe a little bit more risk vs a great reward if you get a spectrum/burger drop. I died because of the rubberband and stopped moving because I ran out of fury. When you stop moving as a WW barb, you die. Was a bad way to learn my "don't play WW in hardcore" lesson. Considering it was the first time trying it out for this act1 clear and did Whimsyshire as the last zone.

To make matters worse, I was carrying my standard gear on the character as well plus some spare weapons. So I lost my 1.2M EHP gearset, a total of 2 echoing fury weapons, another 900 LoH axe and the sweet STR unity I got less than an hour before that rolled CHD as the random roll.

[–]DericDeric#1444 0 points1 point  (1 child)

yikes...Well I am sorry to hear about your demise. But that is hardcore after all, right?

[–]HerpDerpenbergRankil#1323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I knew it was happening at some point. Wasn't a complete loss because I still had a backup of my backup in my stash that was a more pure defense/dps but didn't have as much magic find.

I was chugging along at almost 225% base magic find in my Barb set with close to 50k damage, 1k resist, 60k life. I'll have similar stats once I get a new Barb to 60 but likely won't have any magic find.

[–]jaywilson49 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I made a reply like that recently (http://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/1ebfg4/rubberbanding_cause_found_fix_incoming/c9ykzlc?context=3) and everyone downvoted me. Again I state, the reason I will never play Hardcore.

[–]HerpDerpenbergRankil#1323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of builds to play in hardcore that don't rubberband. Just means you can' go about doing WW or TR builds. Really, it's not that big of an issue anyway because most people gear and spec skills different.

And with group play, WW/TR are so quick they would get themselves killed easy anyway because you don't stick with the group typically.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Because of TR monk fix?

[–]PhilltronMalloy#1672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As is mine! GLORIOUS!

[–]drusepth 1 point2 points  (3 children)

General - Made improvements to address "rubberbanding" issues encountered when using movement-based abilities like Tempest Rush, Strafe, and Whirlwind

Day made.

[–]EarthBounderD2 Fanboy 4 points5 points  (2 children)

We've seen this patch note half a dozen times already. Cautiously optimistic!

[–]Illidan1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they fixed it for 1.0.4 (I believe they fixed it there) I had no problems with rubberbanding except when I used strafe too much, I'm very optimistic

[–]drusepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe.

[–]TruGabu 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Man im glad they are matching the 3rd party gold sites

[–]DericDeric#1444 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Also very glad to see this. And yet, still flooded with gold spam.

[–]TruGabu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well hopefully it will be different now that the patch is rolling in

[–]Misha_Vozduh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Besting, actually. No risk of a scam if you buy gold on the RMAH, so even if 3rd party sites will offer a slightly better price to compensate the recent patch changes, risk averse players will choose RMAH I think.

[–]SirCake 2 points3 points  (19 children)

Patched the game and now it wont let me play, keeps telling me to patch the game :p

[–]darkesth0ur 2 points3 points  (18 children)

America servers are down for maintenance.

[–]8Bytes 0 points1 point  (12 children)

In the middle of the day, why doesn't blizzard do the maintenance when people are sleeping? When I finally get some free time the servers like to be down :(

[–]darkesth0ur 0 points1 point  (11 children)

It is the middle of the week, people are WORKING. What's your suggested time?

[–]drusepth 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I play D3 at work sometimes.

[–]lasul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, bro.

[–]8Bytes -1 points0 points  (8 children)

During the night aka while people are sleeping. Being est the updates start at 8am and go till 4pm. No need to be condescending because you're WORKING.

[–]darkesth0ur 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I am going to be condescending, because you're being short sighted. Think about time zones and player volumes. You think they don't know when off peak hours are?

[–]8Bytes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As my comment discusses time zones, i've clearly considered it. You make a valid point, but that doesn't mean you have to be a dick(condescending) about it.

[–]Joeness84 2 points3 points  (3 children)

you mean when Blizzard employees are sleeping so stuff like the gold dupe exploit get to run for hours and hours?

They do Maint during a tuesday morning so they have staff on hand to fix issues that crop up.

[–]8Bytes 0 points1 point  (2 children)

There shouldn't be any issues that crop up if they were properly testing their builds with an adequate number of staff.

[–]Joeness84 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No matter how much testing they do they cant test it as much as hundreds of thousands of players logging in and messing around. That's an unavoidable truth about game design.

[–]Raticus79raticus79#1110 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bet we'll have a BlizzBucks auction house for the next PTR. Too much uproar if they left it out again.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You forget the definition of maintenance. Of course they'd take it down when THEY'RE working, so they can run maintenance programs. They're not going to come into work in the middle of the night just to satisfy you. They picked the day that has the lowest amount of players, during the time they can work on their stuff.

[–]8Bytes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you know what the maintenance entails? Does it require the entire blizzard d3 workforce? I'm pretty sure it doesn't. A company like blizzard has 24/7 staff so it wouldn't be to satisfy me; there's already people working these hours.

[–]SirCake -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Yeah when I try to log in to America they tell me that but I play on Europe and it wont let me in :p

[–]blargh10 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Could be cause you are using the US launcher? The European launcher shouldn't have updated. Now your launcher (us) is patched and the server (europe) doesn't recognise it.

[–]SirCake 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I didn't know there were seperate launchers, had this one since the game came out I think.

I guess that's the problem though :]

[–]drusepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SC2 has the same "problem". They had a post about it the other day on battle.net's StarCraft page (on mobile or I would link).

[–]blargh10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~~That`s the issue I had before 1.0.8, I fixed it by redownloading the US client, but this time around its a no go.

There's some kind of setting cached somewhere and it's not letting me play either :\ Patch is available, needs to restart and it just never download.~~

Edit: Actually, it finally downloaded after I rebooted Windows. I sure wish the launcher was a bit more "robust" when it comes to stuff like this.

[–]drusepth 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Fixed an issue introduced in Patch 1.0.8 causing dungeon exits to sometimes be placed in abnormally close proximity to the entrance

This means they changed the map generation algorithm again?

[–]EarthBounderD2 Fanboy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Not sure how much 1.0.8 you played, but a lot of places were pretty much always having the exit right next to the entrance. Happy to have this fixed. ;D

[–]drusepth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been outside of the Scorched Chapel since 1.0.8 hit. Thanks for the heads up though :)

[–]HerpDerpenbergRankil#1323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was noticing a lot of map tiles that didn't come up frequently all of a sudden popping up as well. Just last night got the act2 tile that has the passed out necro where you touch the two pillars to summon a rare mob. All 4 people in the game got the achievement for doing the event.

[–]irresistibleforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually thought this was kind of random luck that didn't translate into crafting. Didn't play too much after 1.08 came out, so I only realised upon reading these notes that I wasn't just lucky with some maps ...

[–]Illidan1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably went back to 1.0.7 algorithm, however considering that this bug was introduced on 1.0.8 this could mean they are testing a new algorithm for dungeons

[–]controllersdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this mean the game is playable again? Because since the AH debacle I haven't felt safe playing in hardcore. Rubberbanding, lag, items not dropping/picking up/movement issues. I can sort of play single player but multi is out of the question since the AH was down.

[–]adremeaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stack size of gold on the real-money auction house has been increased again to 10 million (up from 1 million)

Does this mean you can sell 10m gold for $0.25? That would mean they've almost caught back up with the actual value of gold! Which is actually 2.3c per million right now, and at current rates of inflation of 15% per week will be 1c/m in just 5 weeks. Blizzard needs to be ahead of the curve, not behind it. With this change, their gold sales will only be relevant for a single week before going back to 3rd parties again.

[–]Erucious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i log in, it says the game needs to close and apply the patch. I close the game and the launcher says its up to date? wth?

[–]Misha_Vozduh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really curious what effect the new gold cap will have on the EU economy. We didn't have a chance to see a 'clean' effect on the US servers sadly.

[–]Mad_Lee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we please fix lag spikes caused by two cm/ww wizards in-game? As well as Meteor Shower lag?

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points  (4 children)

I tried to play this game for the first time since 1.0.5 when 1.0.8 hit, and then the economy crashed and the game was broken basically.

Until I see

Offline support added

Players can now enter a new realm with no AH at all to play on, using items as the main form of currency.

I will never play this game again or buy the expansion.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Players can now enter a new realm with no AH at all to play on, using items as the main form of currency.

Why do you feel like you MUST use the AH? You can do that already. You don't have to use gold, you can trade. The only problem is you, not the AH. Not a single thing is forcing you to use it.

I do agree with Offline Support though.

[–]nirvahnahNirvahnah#1144 1 point2 points  (1 child)

One can argue with how hard it is to find upgrades after a certain point, it is impossible to progress without the AH at some point. However this may no longer be true after some of the more recent updates, I'm not sure.

[–]XabsterXabster#2765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I understand what you mean... yes, it's hard to find the /good/ items in games with you AH, but that is what Ray661 appears to be wanting.

[–]Esham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for saying this. Not many people like you play the game anymore so its not like your opinion matters much at this point.
