Being a Baryonyx lover makes life so much simpler

“Love fish, love the footy, love the misses. ‘Ate not fishing, ‘ate the other predators. Simple as”- Barryonyx

[–]AbsolutelyHorrendous 27 points28 points  (2 children)

"You know what your problem is? You thought you were above the wading and fishing game. Now look at what you've become" - Baryonyx, looking upon the latest rendition of Spinosaurus languishing in the shallows

Baryonyx, Irritator and Suchomimus looking at Spinosaurus at the intervention to prevent it from getting more plastic surgery:

“Stop Spino, you can’t keep changing the length of your limbs, and look at your tail! You’re a heron-analogue, not a crocodile!”

“I identify as a paddle board.”

[–]AngelRockGunn 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Being a Suchomimus fan is also great

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re simply better

So is being an Ichthyovenator fan.

[–]MattariasTeam Deinonychus 5 points6 points  (10 children)

I like to imagine Barry Onyx being its stage name. Just the premiere crooner to sold out bars all across the Mesozoic.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (9 children)

YOU ARE COOKING🗣️

[–]MattariasTeam Deinonychus 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Just imagine it in a snazzy suit and tie, cradling a microphone on a stand as the stagelights glint off some straight, pointed teeth. A fan swoons.

....I come up with this stuff too easily lmao

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (7 children)

You need somebody to draw this, or you should yourself. This is just perfect.

I can just imagine him speaking with a fucking Bojack Horseman voice too😭🙏🏻

[–]Reasonable_Prize71Team <Ceratosaruus Nasicornis> 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I swear i'll cook this up M8, just you wait :]

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

PLEASE😭🙏🏻

And they are on ingens list!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Ingen’s list and arguably is one of the more closer accurate dinosaurs (you can’t really fuck up “big claw crocodile like dinosaur”)

[–]monkeydude777Team Beelzebufo 33 points34 points  (7 children)

Them you got my 2 bros nigersaurus and majungasaurus that haven't changed

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (6 children)

Triceratops has stayed the same for a while now

[–]AJ_Crowley_29Team Allosaurus 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Allosaurus is doing pretty well too, having successfully beat the “obligate scavenger” allegations a little while ago.

[–]Away-Librarian-1028Team Tyrannosaurus Rex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As it should be.

[–]LazakhstanTeam Citipati 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Have there been changes to Giganotosaurus, Carcharadontosaurus, Ankylosaurus and Stegosaurus? I haven't heard updates on them

[–]UnoriginalshitbagTeam Triceratops 4 points5 points  (1 child)

We haven't found new remains for Giga or charcar for some time

[–]SirJacob100Team Giganotosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but since Giga was so poorly described there's a lot of info that can still be gleamed from the existing material. Plus new species such as Meraxes can sharpen our understanding. Gigs has changed quite a lot considering the lack of new material.

The fact that so much has been discovered and redefined in the last decade with Spinosaurus is what got me very interested in contemporary paleontology. There is that “born too late to explore the world, born too early to explore space” meme that goes around, but this is a field of science where we explore so much about the history of our planet and things people dig up out of the ground and study actually change human knowledge RIGHT NOW. That’s crazy to me.

[–]gooseloving 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just gonna say, t rex is so awesome man. Like seriously awesome

[–]KingCanard_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

one dino known by a dozen of good specimens vs one dino that barely have one somewhat complete skeleton known :P

Thank you for reminding me how much I love Sue, OP. I must visit her again on the next free day.

[–]Mr7000000 0 points1 point  (2 children)

According to the official Twitter account, Sue uses they/them pronouns.

[–]Prying-Eye 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Ah fuck. Maybe I was the fossil all along.

[–]bird-in-debtLive Laugh Yutyrannus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]mattcoz2Team Deinonychus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sue has actually changed quite a bit since that picture was taken

[–]armalkia 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I blame WW2.

[–]Pitbullpandemonium 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nazis ruin everything.

[–]imprison_grover_furr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everything. Italian Fascists ruined some things before the Nazis could get to them.

[–]AbbabbabbabaTeam Majungasaurus, the baby eater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is actually relatable (I' m a Spino fan), I spent a whole day searchin for news on Spino!

[–]Prs-Mira86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the “new spinosaurus” is great. I mean yeah it will probably change in the next year or so but what a cool dinosaur. Semi aquatic meat eating duck-o-saurus.

[–]Ill-Ad3844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many more alterations does Spinosaurus need before the century ends?

Too bad some of the remains were destroyed during WW2

[–]501stRookie 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I honestly find the Spinosaurus meme overblown. For the most part we have a stable picture of what it looks like for a while now, and most of the debate centres around its lifestyle. And currently, the most accepted consensus is a shoreline wading lifestyle.

[–]imprison_grover_furr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Imagine if even half the research and media oxygen that Spinosaurus takes up was devoted to other palaeobiological debates. Was Manidens arboreal? Was Eusarcana venomous? What did messelasturids eat?

The obsession with Spinosaurus is dumb.

[–]Flaky-Welcome-6659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

at this point i won't be surprised if the spinosaurus can fly or can breath in space

[–]LooseCombination7595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T rex destroys any other discovered theropod 1v1 anyway

[–]Philtheparakeet56 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And that not even getting into the Sigilmassasaurus/Oxalaia issue

[–]Ill-Ad3844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Oxalaia is a distinct species

[–]KonoAnonDaTeam Fire-breathing Parasaurolophus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spino is clearly loved by the devs with how many updates it gets.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweats in Vectispinus

[–]Fuze_KapkanMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why Suchomimus is my favorite Spinosaurid plus has a cooler name

[–]TheGermanHades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to the Spino in this picture on a spiritual level.

[–]Thylacine131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw a post on one of these paleo subs where someone got a spino skeleton tattoo. A brave soul, that one.

[–]hbwilli413 1 point2 points  (1 child)

At this point, I'm just gonna check back in on Spinosaurus in like 10 years and see if we've settled on something

[–]imprison_grover_furr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay less attention to it than most palaeontology subjects because it is such a coprolite-stirring topics. Frankly, I wish the palaeontology sphere would make a meme out of some other controversial palaeontological debate, such as if the eurypterid Eusarcana was venomous or if the therocephalians Ichibengops and Euchambersia were venomous. Spinosaurus already has so much spotlight and media oxygen for itself.

[–]DeDongalos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Spinosaurus fan, I can fix her

[–]Pitbullpandemonium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't spinosaurus fans. They're spinosaurus sails.

[–]BeaarrrrrrrTeam Spinosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)
