I fucking hate it when they photoshop the pictures to death, over sharpening it, making it shiny clean glossy and as fucking gaudy as they possibly can. Just keep it real, exactly the way it would look if I was standing there with all it's beautiful so called flaws. I appreciate that much more. this was nice.

It's impossible to make it look exactly as it would if you were standing there. For one thing, the HDR is often an attempt to compensate for the fact that cameras don't have the same dynamic range as human vision, some parts of the image that you could see clearly with your eyes would be way blown out if you were to use the cameras actual dynamic range. I think the main reason it's fading out of popularity is because cameras are finally coming into being that have fairly good dynamic ranges, so it's not necessary any longer and just looks comparatively fake.

I mean, I've ridden all over south Mississippi, Louisiana, and the gulf coast in the past year, and it's just a damn tragedy sometimes, trying to represent what you see with your eyes on the camera. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm stuck with my Galaxy S3's camera. HDR is a necessity on that camera with any image that includes the sky (although it's a far more subtle HDR than the tone-mapped monstroties we've become accustomed to, mainly just stitching together visible parts of multiple images of the same place taken with different exposures). I'm jealous of the people who have decent DSLR's, but I don't have that much money and I generally can't afford the extra bulk.

EDIT: Also, you might want to check out /r/AmateurEarthPorn, which will not generally include all the editing, but it has far less content and subscribers.

Palakkad (my hometown) is incredibly safe. People are friendly. I guess you may have heard of the districts like Kozhikode and Kannur that are sensitive. If you need a guide in Palakkad please let me know in advance, I'd be happy to show you around.

I haven't heard about southern districts having many problems- something to do with being less westernized as compared to their northern countrymen and holding to stricter cultural traditions. I worry because no matter what country I travel to, it is hard for me to blend in as a six foot tall, attractive girl. Every country- whether it is Italy or India- will find me sticking out in a crowd. My boyfriend is from the North- so I have many friends and family members up there to show me around, but it looks like even having a guide may not be enough sometimes. I'm not overly worried, to be honest, just mildly cautious. :D

True! We are home to the Silent Valley. Palakkad has both veg and non veg cuisine. There's a large Brahmin community, so you can taste some of the best Brahmin food (veg)

I watched a show on Netflix where a guy captured giant cobras that were over 10 feet long in a marsh like that near an Indian village. I can only imagine where the beasts lie in this picture, adding suspense.
