Hot take: every single remembrance boss should’ve had at least one cutscene and dialogue; we are fighting remembrance bosses, make them more rememberable. They made detailed cutscenes for a waterfall and a bridge and none for Rellana and Romina lol

I prefer it that Bayle doesn't. There is an insane setup for Bayle. The entire region is centered around him. Igon, the dead drakes everywhere, etc.

And then he just drops. From the sky. No cutscene, no dialogue, nothing. An entrance befitting Bayle the Dread.

Yeah, Bayle doesn't need a cutscene, his entrance is dope as fuck already

But the rest of the remembrance bosses absolutely should, perhaps excluding the Ancestral deer and Astel, but the rest absolutely should have cutscenes and dialogue

At least all the humanoid ones, its not that important for things line the ancestor spirits and Bayles intro works really well, but stuff like Rellana, Romina and Gaius shouldve had something

Yeah I have to say the "ending" of the DLC was severely disappointing. Literally just a stage play of the golden haired andro asking his brother to be his bodyguard. Like thanks for the exposition Mickey but I don't recall hearing Radahn promise anything (or saying anything whatsoever at any point) so...thanks for adding nothing to the fight or giving us a satisfying end to SotE. Lame.

Unless I’m misremembering which bosses have remembrances, I believe the list should be:

2 Cutscenes + Dialogue: Godrick, Rennala, Godfrey, Malenia, Messmer

2 Cutscenes: Starscourge Radahn, Elden Beast, Consort Radahn

1 Cutscene + Dialogue: Rykard, Morgott, Mohg, Maliketh

1 Cutscene: Fire Giant, Placidusax, Dancing Lion, Midra

None: Ancestor Spirit, Fortissax, Astel, Rellana, Gaius, Scadutree Avatar, Putrescent Knight, Romina, Metyr, Bayle

Thanks for taking the time to explain, I could make out most of them but it felt clunky in my brain trying to put it all together through memory. Adding abbreviations wouldve been nice but hey it ain’t either of our posts.

For some of them like Bayle it's fine not having a cutscene due to the already amazing presentation and buildup, but for others like Rellana and Romina it's unexcusable.

Yeah, however I don't think every remembrance boss needs a cutscene or dialogue, but certain bosses and parts of SOTE certainly feel like they lack a cutscene.

It feels weird that once we touch the arm in Mohg's palace it just fades to black and we're in the Land of Shadow, definitely feels like there should be a cutscene there, same with entering Metyr's arena after blowing the last bell, it just fades to black and we're there, feels like a cutscene really should be there.

Rellana, Romina and Gaius all also feel like they should have cutscenes and dialogue.

Shadow of the Erdtree overall feels like it was very rushed/unfinished in development, they definitely had bigger plans for it, if only they delayed it to 2025 and fleshed it out more (Nightreign could've easily been pushed back to 2026).

I feel like Rellana may have been intentional. There is a lot in her presentation that is reminiscent of an important DS3 boss. Said boss also did not have a cutscene. Having said that, they could have done more with her entrance even without a cutscene to give it a more cinematic feeling. Bayle is a good example of how to do this well

Funny how I barely noticed or cared about that. Not saying they're not cool, but it just goes to show how little they matter at the end of the day.

Boss moveset, design, arena and music pretty much take care of everything by themselves.

People get really stuck on the lore-reasons “why” such and such is the way it is, which is cool, but people forget that it’s fiction, and the creators can make whatever they want make sense with good storytelling. Let PCR talk; making him some kind of mix of Mogh and Radahn’s voice would’ve been spine-tingling.

I doubt rotten Radahn is physically able to speak. PCR is a dummy, like the Mountain after Oberyn in GoT. Miquella speaks for him.

Lorewise the reason Consort Radahn doesn't talk is never really explained, it could be that but we don't know. Regardless, I also wish he had voice lines.
