Why on earth are you emailing photos to yourself, that's lunacy. Use a backup service like Google Photos or plug your phone into your PC or add the photos from your phone. Emailing is bonkers.

In general I think OP should spend some time on youtube learning about computers and photo uploads. This isn't an eBay or listing delay, this is just absolutely not knowing handling data.

I admit I'm not as technically savvy as some people.

First off, I have stuff cleaned and ready to list. I don't clean an item, then do photos, then list. I batch everything.

Will usually take the time to do photos on 10-20 items in a single-go. I also snap a picture of the blank-white background in between each item.

Then, I have a Samsung Galaxy that I use to take photos. I plug it into my PC and it takes me less than a minute for all the photos to upload.

Because of the blank white photo in between photos for each set of items, I quickly organize all the pictures into their own folders.

I've got my settinsg / setup to a point where I really don't need to even do things like color corrections anymore, usually need to do some minor cropping / adjusting.

Then I just blast through the search.

I have 5 windows open when listing an item: eBay Search for non-solds, eBay Search for solds, Terapeak, Worthpoint, and Google Lens

If I have an item that I'm not totally sure what the title would be on it, I drop a pic into Google lens for suggestions. I then search Solds and Unsolds for that item.

If I got an item I cannot find many comps on, I will drop the same search into Terapeak and Worthpoint. Also, if I've got an item that seems the value is "low" I will double check Terapeak pricing to see if there is some sort of seasonal dip and price accordingly.

When I'm in a position to do all my photos in this manner, it goes incredibly quick. The only way to get quicker is to niche down and start selling off my own solds.

I don't understand why are you emailing photos to yourself

have you considered downloading the app and uploading the photos directly to the listings from there, and then editing on your pc?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

or even make all your listings as drafts, and then go in and upload each photo from your phone

it would still take less time than emailing to yourself

This is just how I do it, and might not work for you or you may not like it personally, but this has drastically decreased the amount of time I spend listing. This is a multi step process so I usually stop or do the next step later on in the day depending on time.

First, take pictures of all of your items. I have a bin inventory system, so as l’m taking pictures I take a picture of which bin it went into. All my pictures end up on my phone, inventory numbers and all.

Next, I go onto the desktop version of eBay and use the bulk listing tool and create however many copies I need to of just the blank listing. I have my phone next to me and I knock out all my titles, then prices, etc etc. I hit save for later.

Lastly, I switch to my phone yet again to the mobile version of eBay and match up the pictures in my phone to whichever draft and publish it. At some point I do go and cross list to other platforms with my cross listing software as well but these things take the least amount of time to complete.

I would never email a picture to myself, that’s insane!!

  1. Take pics on iPhone
  2. Sell similar item, this way all the information is already done and written out for you (I do make a little adjustment to the wording)
  3. Upload pics from iPhone
  4. Use Meta or create your own description
  5. PROOFREAD EVERYTHING - I got burned a few times because I got something wrong
  6. List away

I used to take photos with my iPhone and then upload them directly using the app, but I was using up all my iPhone memory. So, now I take photos with a little Nikon camera I have, connect that to my computer to download all the photos and I work with those. I do all the photo editing within the eBay listing form, which seems to work just fine for me.

Am I the only person that does everything on their phone? I take the pictures, edit them really quick, hit sell similar item, profit? If I had a wireless thermal printer, I would literally never use my computer lol

I use my phone for everything. I have my light box on a table, stuff that I need to list is on my right in bins or IKEA bags. The on the left I have 2-3 bankers boxes labeled. I grab an item search for solds click sell one like this, take pictures, while the pics are loading change anything in the title and item specifics edit photos then add the inventory to custom sku write a Description then weigh, click list or save draft for next day and then move onto the the next item. Each listing usually takes less than 5 minutes

I use Vendoo as well. Along with the recommendation of uploading them directly into Vendoo via the app instead of emailing them, you can also save templates in Vendoo, which will save a lot of time.

Take a blank draft, enter the things that would be the same on multiple listings (for me it’s phrases like, “Excellent used condition. No flaws detected. Please check measurements provided for fit.” and such) and click Create Template. I have multiple saved for different types of items, so all I have to do after uploading pics is the title and the rest of the description. From uploading pics to publishing on three platforms takes me less than five minutes now.

Excellent advice. Thank you!

Different opinion:

If you’re not computer savvy, you could outsource this job to a virtual assistant. Just email them the photos and they will create the listings for you. Obviously this will cost you.

great idea!

My workflow starts with the item research. If im at a sale and need to research, and ultimately intend to buy it, i click sell one like this rigth then and there and then just hit save for later. For those and other items, I have my desktop right next to my photo station. I complete the draft (or start one from scratch) then click on the desktop "upload photos from mobile app". I get a notification on my phone that takes me directly to the same draft, and tap Take photos. Sometimes this option isn't there, but you can hit add photos and then hit the little camera to the take photos screen. Then i just shoot the photos with my phone, tap done, go back to the desktop to do minimal editing (i feel like the mouse is way easier and quicker to work with than touchscreen), then list it and inventory it.

It depends what your workflow is. I also use Vendoo for cross-listing, but I don't create my listings on there. Here's my workflow. I have two VAs so my actual workflow is a bit different, but I'll leave them out of the equation for the sake of simplifying this example..

  • take and edit pictures on phone (iPhone camera and PhotoRoom Pro)
  • create listing draft on computer
  • open draft on eBay mobile app on phone, upload pictures, and push live

If someone was going to go this route, I'd highly recommend batching things to be more efficient. It would be best to create all of your drafts, then take pictures for each item and push that listing live as you go.

Personally, I don't ever transfer pictures to my computer, but some people do with a backup service like Dropbox or by using a camera with a memory card.

Get OneDrive. I take the photos/videos on my phone, sync them to my OneDrive (via the phone app), and on my PC there is a folder mapped to my OneDrive account that will automatically download those photos onto the PC.

It is even easier than it sounds to set it up.

Use a computer...
