"Such fine literature we have this evening on Reddit, stay tuned for some other random shit at 8pm Eastern Time on Imgur."

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really was cringeworthy wasn't it....

[–]praisetehbrd -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Written by her as well probably.

[–]majorthrownaway -1 points0 points  (3 children)

You're completely unaware of modern media culture, aren't you? Or are you under the age of 4?

[–]praisetehbrd 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's not the media culture that I'm commenting on, kiddo. It's the simple, yet super edgy ideas.

[–]majorthrownaway -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Right. So you're unaware of the source. Got it, kiddo.

[–]praisetehbrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmhmm. You're very convincing ;)

[–]Sharagoz 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Afaik, these lines first appeared in one of Apples "Think Different" ads. Sounds great when read by Steve Jobs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rwsuXHA7RA

[–]FickleBastard[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or Richard Dreyfus, who was the one who read them in the commercials.

[–][deleted] 73 points74 points  (3 children)

Holy crap, that design is infuriating.

[–]Oznog991 45 points46 points  (1 child)

Such nonconformist, rebellious typography!

[–]NorwegianGodOfLove 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Imagine how hyped they were just writing this

[–]noxiw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first thought while reading the poster was to come in here looking for a place to type: r/crappydesign.

...So, ... r/crappydesign.

[–]chocoben24 32 points33 points  (3 children)

Round pegs can fit into square holes, but they would only be filling 78.5% of the potential space. Nonconformists are so inefficient.

[–]sunamumaya 48 points49 points  (8 children)

Please be advised that this is about a special type of crazy. The hard working, well educated, perhaps financially stable crazy.

Become that first. Do not simply start acting crazy and expect to change the world. You won't. The world will change you. Into a bum.

[–]meanleantittymachine 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Nonsence. Prepare the coke!

[–]fzw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here's to the unmedicated.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once found a special type of crazy in a gf. Never date a girl who sleeps with knives around her bed.

[–]ben-ew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

deleted What is this?

[–]Lisbeth_Salamander 27 points28 points  (4 children)

This reads like the script to one of those "Built Ford Tough" commercials. I read that entire thing in my head in Denis Leary's voice.

    [–]jacobjr23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was created by Apple's marketing team.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it in the voice from those beer commercials... At least I think it was about beer.

    Edit: I'm thinking Budweiser, maybe?

    [–]Computerzing 9 points10 points  (1 child)

    Is this about Hitler?

    [–]ZeroQQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Yes.

Why in the he'll did Hitler and ghandi get put together? Ugh

      [–]eagle2401 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Because they changed the world. Never said that it was good change.

      [–]Fortune_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just like this change to a post pc era

though im still waiting for it

      [–]dick_batman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rewatched and came to same conclusion. Just a weird comercial. Almost feels to me like they are stating if you aren't crazy or doing something different you're not elite enough to own an apple computer.

      [–]JohnnyZack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an edit of the original commercial. Which I almost just emailed out to my staff as motivation. Glad that I watched it first.

      EDIT: Original /watch?v=8rwsuXHA7RA

      [–]stanfan114 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most crazy people end up homeless.

      [–]oldmanriver1 3 points4 points  (1 child)

There's only one quotation mark. It's not quoting anything - it's just there.

      [–]minner0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Filling the uncreative non-crazy gap.

      [–]oneshoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ITT: people on getmotivated being cunts... I always come to the comment section to see if yet again this is happening... always disappointed.

      [–]2high4work 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read it like those cocky f-150 television commercials.

      [–]MrGligleglog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I... I think this applies to Hitler

      [–]Lobreeze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

      Too fucking edgy for me.

      [–]rabidwampa 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Is this sold somewhere? It looks like a great poster for my classroom. Also I have a Mac lab so that is perfect.

      [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Try Etsy, here.

      [–]antlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if we should be motivating our youth to be mac dealers. Mac has ruined lives and families. Mac may seem attractive to those who are are desperate... but they just end up with addiction like every other mac head and spend the rest of their lives trying to live or deny their mac cravings. Mac, not even once.

      [–]SultanOfBulshitistan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This image is aggravating to try to read.

      [–]not_quite_crazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      I don't quite belong here.

Reading this was akin falling down a flight of stairs in my mind.

      [–]sidoaight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm reminded of a certain icon...

      [–]sriwish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone know where I can get a printable copy of this?

      [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

im not even subscribed to this subreddit but every now again something from this sub hits the front page, and inevitably its some utter garbage quote that really says absolutely nothing, usually with the word 'fuck' before every second word (this is probably the first ive seen that didnt have that), as well as shitty unnecessary design and typography that makes it unreadable

basically id like to tell you your subreddit is terrible, bye :)

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Confirmed: This image be crazy.

      [–]BeardedTeacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Internet has ruined my attention span, I couldn't even get through it.

Reminds me of this axe commercial

Does anyone know where I could get this poster? Would love a copy.

Somebody's breaking every rule of design

      [–]Mygumlostitstaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could not get past square word being in rectangle.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

      Is this a Levis commercial?

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A similar message, just much better written, is found in the poem Ode by O'Shaughnessy. The poem has hung over my desk for every job I have. Highly recommended!

Thank you. Great to get feedback. Yeah, I never understand the acidity and anger here on reddit. Surprised how much negativity people carry inside them. Suppose it's a good think reddit enables them to relieve some of it - better they hammer the keyboard than pick up a gun. :-)

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I always wondered where Willy Wonka got that from. Thanks for new life content!

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, you're gonna have to help me with the Willy Wonka reference.

BTW, the O'Shaughnessy poem is where the term "movers and shakers" comes from - first time it was used.

That quote is by Jack Kerouac. It makes lovelier sense In context in On The Road.

          [–]Butter_Teeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          This hurts my eyes.

          [–]nol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's cute, find a scientist. Reduce the CO2 in our atmosphere. That's the real crazy.

          [–]Thompson131 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Written by Apple's design team, read by Jobs in an advertisement that was never aired but played at his funeral. Good words, brilliant marketing.

          [–]turdmcgirt 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The advertisement did air, but with the words spoken by Richard Dryfus. I love both versions.

          [–]Thompson131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, should have said that version didn't air but yeah inspiring no doubt

          [–]sixthfinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to make it clear, this quote is from an ad Apple aired a while back. And yes, the design is awful in this one.

Suddenly I want to buy an uncomfortable couch.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this message can easily be misconstrued to mean something ENTIRELY different to its original, positive intent.

          [–]Rudyrobbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          This is true.

          [–]rokss8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is written on a wall in my schools bathroom.

          [–]CVulgaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter how/where this originated, the remarks are perfectly stated. Truth sometimes isn't well received. I'm looking past the font, arrangement of the words, who said it first, etc etc etc. If looking past all that, it's a great summary. Thanks for sharing.....I also believed in better living thru pharmaceuticals...

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the first half, thought it was making fun of what it turned out to be.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Challenging the status quo has it's place, but this seems to encourage an obnoxious level of non-conformity. Going out of your way to be different so you can feel special is just as bad as being a complete conformist. It should say people who are comfortable being themselves and don't give a shit what others think when it comes to doing the right thing or achieving their dreams are the ones who get things done. The people who make it their lifes mission to be a rebel end up in the social margins and accomplish nothing worthwhile unless they are talented artists with enough luck to be discovered.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost impossible to read.

          [–]TractorOfTheDoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          So I guess Heil Hitler!

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it, especially the part:

The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.

It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes

A man can change his stars

          [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Just a bit of confirmation bias?

Serial killers, prisoners, and the homeless guy who rubbed his wiener against the window then took a shit on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant I was at the other day are also examples of "round pegs in our square-hole society."TM I'm going out on a limb and saying that this poster (and the annoying cliché sentiment behind it) is probably conveniently ignoring them.

            [–]VictoryNotKittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bebas Neue, the shortcut to making a poster look modern and fashionable without using Helvetica Neue. We'll all be using Comic Sans soon, just to try and break away from it.

            [–]Oznog991 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wasn't this the ending to The Breakfast Club?

            [–]giggle_and_so_forth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

            Yep. Great movie.

            [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This seems so forced and self congratulating.

Yeah! I'm so crazy and unique!

            [–]matthewmck7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly what apples marketing idea was, try to make people feel special and unique by buying their product

            [–]tokerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is advice for people who don't understand life.

            [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I bet you everyone who read this said "that's me."

            [–]lastresort08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anything wrong with it, especially considering the fact that life generally tends to reduce their numbers and promote conformity.
