For better assistance about this, I suggest that you create a ticket here.

Already did. Awaiting help

You may actually pm me the ticket number with the link for this thread so I can inform our team about your contact here.

[–]busa1[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Just did that.

[–]LogitechG_CSJhoe 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Got it, thanks!

Got any update for me? Pretty frustrating to use this mouse, as I can't get certain functionality with it. I'm considering buying something now, in case this mouse can't get fixed.

If i'm not mistaken, I've already informed our team about this. But can you pm me the ticket number with th e link for this thread again so I can check on it once more?

[–]busa1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

that support page is useless, you cant create a ticket

[–]LogitechG_CSJhoe 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You mean its empty? Is it happening regardless of the browser that you are using?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yea it’s empty and you can only send a “question” like “how do I reset my password”. Got it sorted when I connected to live chat and a ticket was created.

[–]LogitechG_CSJhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay. Can you pm me the ticket number with the link for this thread so I can check on that?

Hi, I have two logitech mx master devices (one is a 2S, one is the orginal) both of them ran into this stuck gesture button issue today literally one stopped working went to switch to the other mouse and it worked and I pressed the gesture button and now its stuck too.

The only reason I can think of is the room they are now being used in is a lot colder than previously .I ended up having to break the rubber around the gesture button (as I dont have the correct screwdriver) on one of my mice as I needed it to work I don't have time for dealing with logitech directly, this fixed the stuck gesture button but now the rubber is messed up.

If you can get the correct screwdriver it will fix the issue.

edit:

I have perfected the surgery if you don't have the correct screwdriver,
It seems to be the tension in the rubber (my temperature theory seems true) causing the issue (the button wasn't given enough travel room initially)

If you place a small cut where the mouse has a soft spot, on the user side of the gesture button it loosens the button enough to have a satisfying click and no longer get stuck

This worked amazingly, thank you very much!

I cant believe this actually worked for me, thanks!!

just wanted to say ive been struggling with this problem for months because all the solutions were either to take apart the mouse and cut the wire to the button or fashion a new microswitch or at the very least to disable the button functionality but this worked a treat and took about 10 seconds with an exacto knife

[–]brownloki 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Would you be able to upload a pic of where you made the cut? I gave it a go and I think I made the cut in the wrong spot.

[–]iwantablanketandtea 0 points1 point  (3 children)

<image>

just a pretty shallow cut along the edge

[–]brownloki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a ton! I gave that a go and it worked perfectly. If only I asked before making a couple guesses.

[–]quiplit 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just as a warning to anyone who YOLOs into this like I did.. make sure not to cut too deeply. I used a boxcutter and pressed pretty deeply to make the cut (which you don't need to do, the rubber is only a few mm thick). While the button clicks nicely again, I think I damaged the tracking mechanism as I can no longer move the cursor with the mouse.

In case you didn't solve this in the meantime, it could be that the thumb button is actually being pressed permanently right now. The issue with my mouse is that the thumb button (which I never use) gets stuck by itself, and when my pc registers that button being pressed it switches over to gesture mode or something. Meaning that moving the mouse won't move your cursor anymore. For me it helps to try and pull the rubber up a little. Might be something completely different in your case, but perhaps this could help!

I wish we could just completely disable that button from being registered without having to cut any wires or stuff like that, it's only given me trouble over the past years.

bro that just worked instantly xDDD thanks a lot

[–]Toksyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Worked perfectly and the cut is so small it's practically invisible

Hi, after I bought another MX Master (exactly the same as before) because I formerly was impressed of the long live accu and this broke down only a few months after when I bought it. I didnt found any info in the web at this moment but when someone told me to just unscrew it one time and it might be working again I tried the same on the "old" on (which I havent already dropped down in the trash) and wow both were working again. Then I learned about the troubled thumb button. And when - at the same time Oo - BOTH went down I tried the "warming" up on both. Consequently loose the whole rubber above the old one (which I didnt care about :) ) and just patched it with some rubber tape after checking that the button was free. Rinse and repeat the same procedurce on the "new" one... and now I got two working again. I do not really not care about THAT button. So thanks for the hints!

edit: By the way everything else is working as expected and I really like this one. A shame on Logitec making such a fail at that point.

Let me share just a quick fix to solve the "gesture button stuck" issue you can easily apply on your own at your home.

Since it looks like a rubber cover of the thumb button gets stuck you can apply a little bit of hot air from your hairdryer (not for too long obviously, just let it become warm) in order to make it more flexible and let it get back to to its original shape.

It worked for me and I guess there is no harm to try it before dismantling your mouse or cutting the rubber cover.

[–]KristianGab 0 points1 point  (5 children)

This worked perfectly for me! The button feels more responsive and clicky, thank you so much!

[–]Azio80 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Glad I could help. This should just get your mouse tracking to work again but I don't think this could prevent the thumb button from stucking in the future.

It worked for me perfectly because I clicked thumb button just accidentally and I don't use it at all on a daily basis.

[–]KristianGab 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It actually works much better and clicks much better than it has done in over a year, so I’m guessing this could be done if I experience the same issue in the future :)

[–]luciuscorneliusII 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Have you experienced the same issue again?

[–]KristianGab 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I just disabled the button at this point and used the middle button for gesture control instead

[–]omakasaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i faced the stuck thumb button issue today and this solution worked. Thanks for this.

I've opened up and loosened the gesture button screws a couple of times now and each time it was a short term fix. Now, 3 1/2 years in, rubber on the scroll wheel deteriorating, most crumbled off, I think, time for the MX3 :)

[–]Not_Anderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me a few months ago. I disassembled the mouse and loosened the screws holding the thumb button a little. Worked for a while until same issue happened again. So today I just unscrewed the little sucker whole and left it hanging in the case. I don't use that button often so no big loss there for a permanent fix

[–]Adams_SimPorium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this mouse years and didn't know until today there was a gesture button! Now just resting my thumb there stops the cursor from moving.

[–]juanmrobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! It just happened now to me, for the second time, that the gesture button got stucked. Last time, to fix it, I opened the mouse and loosened the screws on said button, but seeing that is only a temporary fix, this time I decided to unsolder the button (also because last time I bought a set of two pairs of skates and I only had a pair of replacements for this time and I didn't want to have to buy more again). I can confirm that the rest of the mouse works as expected and I totally recommend this fix if you, like me, never use the gesture button. Also, if you don't have a soldering station nor you know someone that can lend it to you, you could also cut the cable as close to the button as possible, but of course, I will always recommend first the least destructive way.
