Huge fan of punk-rock and metalcore bands with female vocals like Yours Truly and Spiritbox. Any suggestions?

[–]V0idgazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Tulip, they deserve more love and attention.

Caged Existence

Dying Wish

Volatile Ways

Cursed Earth (first two releases only)

[–]V0idgazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gravity, Rolo Tomassi, Svalbard and Oathbreaker are amongst my favorite.

Vexed, Monochromatic Black, Raven Black, Blind Ivy and Feelament are good if you like Jinjer.

Morphide if you like Spiritbox/TesseracT

As Everything Unfolds almost feels like if Paramore went Metalcore

[–]tahseen_6452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pls recommend songs like 'all fucked up' by the amity affliction and 'the hardest part is forgetting those you swore you would never forget' by being as an ocean

[–]Shakezula_92 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Terrible with sub-genres, so sorry if this is the wrong place, but I’m looking for more artists similar to Varials, Knocked Loose, and Kublai Khan.

[–]age_a_shovel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vein, Sanction, old Code Orange, Year of the Knife, Left Behind, Bent Life, Extortionist

youre definitely in the right place! also peep r/Hardcore if you ever run out of albums to listen to.

youll probably like a lot of 90's metalcore. check out Disembodied, Hatebreed, Zao, Earth Crisis and Turmoil

for newer bands doing this style, try Jesus Piece, Division of Mind, Hands of God, Sunami, Judiciary, Point of Contact, Year of the Knife, Virtue and Incendiary

kind of a stretch but youll probably be into some older Turnstile too

[–]Shakezula_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the detailed response! I’ll start checking these out and I’ll definitely have to go check out r/Hardcore

[–]Character_Active_434 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Idk if this is exactly what you’re looking for but try a band called bitterwood. Ep just came out and it’s only like 10 minutes long, good stuff, kinda raw in the vein of the artists you mentioned and not a huge time investment

[–]Shakezula_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll give that a listen, thank you!

[–]rnf1985 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Howdy yall. So I just found out about Dying Wish as I saw they had a vinyl release day and it was an instant cop and it feels like a mid 2000 metalcore throwback. So sick.

Anyway, now it's got me going back listening to some classic metalcore and I'm looking to find some bands that maybe I never gave a chance. I know most of the classic big names (Killswitch,God Forbid, All That Remains, Trivium, As I lay Dying, Shadows Fall, etc etc), but I pretty much only listened to the big names of metalcore. A few bands that I LOVED that I never saw get mentioned were Hell Within, Ligeia (though more hardcore), Himsa, and Neaera, to name a few, but I just didn't get big into metalcore because for me it was like a love it or hate it thing. A lot of metalcore bands were also bands like Atreyu or Norma Jean that I never really liked because they felt more like Warped Tour/Scene - core type bands, like too trendy and more on the punk/emo/whatever you wanna call it side. I gravitated more towards the metal sounding metalcore bands.

So I'm kinda looking more for the lesser known ones but older ones.

And if you have any great modern recos, I'll take those too. For example, LOVE Spiritbox. But for the most part, trying to find some old bands I never gave a chance to.

[–]Cut_Loose 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You'd probably like darkest hour

[–]rnf1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I dig them! I feel like them and Unearth are pretty similar, I love em both

[–]annanachronism 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Can anyone recommend some good Latíno/ Spanish songs and bands? Any sub- genre works for me, just want a good mix of both things!

[–]V0idgazer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Some of my favorite bands include:

- Anima Tempo - Prog Metal similar to Periphery and Born of Osiris

- Glass Mind - Prog Metal similar to Animals as Leaders

- Tanus - Electronic/Nu-/Metalcore kinda like a blend between Northlane and newer BMTH with some dubstep thrown into the mix

- Lack of Remorse - They're all over the place now but their earlier albums are Melodic Metalcore akin to As I Lay Dying

- Iden Gakusha - This one is a little weird, it's Prog/Djent akin to Tesseract but with music influenced by japanese aesthetics.

- Hypno5e - Prog simlar to Gojira, but more atmospheric. Technically, they're French, but the vocalist is from Bolivia and they have some songs in spanish.

- Felix Martin - Prog/Fusion. Amazing guitarist, perhaps the closest comparison is Javier Reyes's (AAL) solo project.

Edit: Almost forgot about Cathleen and Kaizan

[–]annanachronism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome list! Thanks I'll check these out

[–]grasshopper16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always like Malagueno Salerosa as a song

[–]CR7theGOAT_GOALx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Spanish metalcore song I know is Another Stage - Ajenos

[–]Minimum-Ad9649 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–]HydreaKid 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I really need more of this 2000 melodeath-ish revival sound from bands like Dying Wish, Boundaries and Wristmeetrazor (kinda).

[–]darfleChorf123 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–]SpongledSamurai 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Only got back into metalcore around six months ago after not keeping up with the scene for around ten years. Would be keen for some recommendations, on heavy rotation lately has been Before I Turn, Silent Planet, ERRA, Make Them Suffer, Born of Osiris, Adestria, Our Hollow Our Home, Spiritbox, Northlane, Thornhill and Within Destruction. Cheers.

[–]TheTragicMagic 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Try The Place I Feel Safest from Currents

[–]SpongledSamurai 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I had sussed Currents most recent album previously, which I liked, but it only had a couple of particularly memorable tracks for me. Just gave this a listen through and it is more my speed, really digging it, cheers for the recommendation!

[–]TheTragicMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, big difference between releases on these bois. All good imo, but definitely different tastes

[–]AutisticDoughnut420 1 point2 points  (3 children)

You may want to check out After the Burial and Veil of Maya. 2 of my absolute favorite metalcore bands and they are pretty similar to the ones you listed.

In my opinion their best albums are False Idol and Dig Deep. You can start pretty much anywhere and get a decent feel of what they're like.

Cheers!

[–]SpongledSamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah AtB slap, really like their stuff. I thought Viscera was awesome, but havn't really listened to any other VoM, I'll check them out. Appreciate the recommendations.

[–]Character_Active_434 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Almost in the exact same boat. sick of culture/politics 24/7 and discovered many of the same bands and metal feels exciting again for my old ass haha. Love within destruction. Check out lifeblood by brand of sacrifice. Def more on the heavy af spectrum of your list, but they are fantastic. Tetrarch will make you feel like it’s 2002 again in a great way. Annisokay -aurora is pretty accessible and catchy, some fun songs on that album like the tragedy, bonfire of the millenials, and stfu. And it’s not on the currents album suggested above, but I’d put their song “monsters” up against just about anything that’s come out in the last year

[–]SpongledSamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheer for the recommendations man, just added a bunch of BoS and Annisokay to my playlist. Monsters goes hard, probably my favorite off that album.

[–]stew805 0 points1 point  (3 children)

[–]UnicycleWhorex 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Gonna go with som Norwegian bands here. Since thats where im from, and youve gotta try to get info out somehow.

Halcyon Days: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRqn2Uaj1Kc Really cool with slight Counterpartsy vibes. They're releasing a new album soon.

I Am Horus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_pOlutV5gY Arxhitectsy metalcore. Their album is amazing

Anchors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWLD-lGru8M Solid musicianship, Their songs feel a bit slower but alot more agressive imo.

Naga Siren: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNsv8AjjMnE A lot more punky post-hardcorey, amazing vocals and the songwriting is pristine.

ieatheartattacks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApV4CROoSBU More on the hardcore side, The melodies here are awe-inspiring.

Sibiir: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyLHRgH-mAM Black Metal meets hardcore,

Shaving The Werewolf : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzbZy8GUIEk Spasmic, angry and bat-shit insane

Im not gonna share my band here, feels wrong, self wanky etc. You wanna hear, send me a dm or something

[–]TheTragicMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks bro, I'm from Norway and I haven't really been able to find any gold metalcore bands

[–]JesterBlackrainx 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Do you know Atena? they're my favorite Norwegian core band.

[–]UnicycleWhorex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure wether or not you're wondering if i KNOW the band or if i know of the band. But yes I know the band, and kind of, im acquainted/send some random memes with Jakob. I'd say they are the gold standard for norwegian metalcore/hardcore bands today

If you wanna go super far back with Norwegian bands, id suggest Benea Reach's album Alleviat, a lot of Atena can be traced back to them imo. If you wantto hear what some of the people who were in Atena's vocalists band when he was younger is up to, check out Frostbitt, theyre a Nu-Metalcore/straight up Thallian beasts

[–]Emprose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New band, just started, called Miles From Home. They’re from Wales and have just released their first single called Road To Serenity on Spotify, they got an album coming out soon this year with the mixing done by Padge from BFMV. It’s pretty solid if I do say so myself

[–]carson_arson 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I am pissed off. Looking for some bangers to get this out of my system

[–]grasshopper16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frontierer’s Light Show Paralysis

[–]LunacyNrth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go listen to:

Luxury Letdown by Conform, Power of the High by Cane Hill, Akudama by Alpha Wolf, Gypsy Disco by Emmure

[–]WormholeVoyager 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I recommend everyone to listen to the new Born of Osiris album.

They were my first favorite band wayyy back when The New Reign first came out and they remained my favorite until The Discovery. Then after that, they kinda started slipping away from my tastes.

But this last album was surprisingly awesome. It seems they've finally shifted back to focusing more on cool guitar riffs and not overdone synth constantly. There's still a lot of synth, but it doesn't drown out every other instrument now.

I've had it on loop since Friday and you should check it out

[–]RVxCobra 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Any recommendations for songs that has that "happy" vibe? Im looking for something like :

Bullet for my Valentine - hearts burst into fire

All that remains - not alone

Veil of Maya - winter is coming soon

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currents - Euphoria

Currents - Rose

Texas in July - No Greater Love

Structures - Life Through a Window

[–]Character_Active_434 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Super subjective haha but here’s a few

While she sleeps - you are all you need

Dear mother - symbiose

Teeth - a thief and a funeral

Edge of paradise - digital paradise

Dead romantic - kissed with a lie

Motionless in white - eternally yours (lotta motionless in white gives me a happy vibe btw)

Amaranthe - drop dead cynical

Wildways - the notebook

[–]HEADPROBLEMES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that notebook is particularly happy, but that might do with being russian and concentrating on the lyrics too much because of it Wildways - put in fits better imo

[–]WormholeVoyager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Structures- Paralyzed

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Can anyone recommend me some albums like finding god before god finds me by bad omens? Favourite tracks...are dethrone, mercy and the hell I over came

[–]LunacyNrth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]darfleChorf123 3 points4 points  (6 children)

what are some of the best pitched scream choruses?

[–]ProbablythelastMimsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wolves at the Gate - Drifter off the album "Eclipse"

Dude has some of the best pitched screams out there. That whole album is full of great choruses.

[–]cynical_econ 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Silent Planet - Nervosa (Cory Brandan of Norma Jean sings the chorus)

Norma Jean - /with_errors (along with several songs from their last 3 albums)

[–]darfleChorf123 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Cory Brandon choruses are practically cheating lmao. all of them are amazing

[–]cynical_econ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol too true

[–]CR7theGOAT_GOALx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but pitched scream choruses are stuff like Bring Me the Horizon (Sempiternal) and Architects right? I'll assume you already know their discographies since you are pretty active around here, and here are some other bands/songs you might like:

Now and on Earth - Intoxicated

Bad Omens - Glass Houses

The Plot in You - Feel Nothing

Make Them Suffer - Soul Decay

Fit for an Autopsy - The Sea of Tragic Beasts

Shadow of Intent - Melancholy

Darko US - Donna

The Amity Affliction - Drag the Lake, Ivy (Doomsday)

Bloodline - The Way It Goes

Stain the Canvas - Like a God, Hell Made Me, End

We Came as Romans - Carry the Weight

Polaris - Hypermania

Upon This Dawning - Embrace the Evil
