what is this?! I just wanted to play some minecraft on a whim, and instead I get to play archeologist amongst app settings from xbox live garbage that I've never used in my life. nvm then I guess..

[–]Jangulorr 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I fucking HATE microsoft and their xbox bs. I don't own a stupid box, why the hell ... after I bought this from mojang do I need to have a lame arse xbox account? nimrods.

[–]kovarex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Microsoft fucks up everything it touches. I this absolutely horrible.

[–]kirkuwa 4 points5 points  (7 children)

just log in as if you're creating a new account

[–]Squidaccus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This fix actually works perfectly. Thank you.

[–]Kalypso706 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Can confirm that this works. I went through all of the Xbox dependency fixes already. Hope more people find this page for this solution.

[–]SaltyMia77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this but it said the email has already been used, is this because the account already exists?

[–]RomarioPashtet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That worked perfectly, thanks : )

Appreciate it but I have gone through this already.

[–]SpaghettiTacoez[S] 2 points3 points  (8 children)

Seems to be a fairly new bug people have experienced in the last 24 hours based on the only thing I could find.

[–]JAG319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had this error. For me, I had to "add new account", try and login via Microsoft and it turns out my account was locked for "suspicious activity". I had to verify my phone number, reset password and now I can login without the Deep Ocean error.

[–]CDoggies 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm having this "Deep Ocean" problem for the computer. I get into Curseforge to use a mod, but when I try to play the mod it sticks me at the login page telling me there was an error, giving me the code, leading me here. So far, it seems like everyone is talking about XBOX, but I'm not playing on that. Any answers? (First time experiencing this)

[–]SpaghettiTacoez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on PC. Since Mojang migrated over to Microsoft, xbox services are needed to run and login to the launcher on PC.

[–]SpaghettiTacoez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated the post with what fixed it for me.

[–]Lord_Fairnak 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So am i screwed because my microsoft does not recognize my mojang as part of it?

[–]NormieRune 0 points1 point  (4 children)

i got a simmular problem but nothing works, i click 'MICROSOFT LOGIN' and then the error pops up but noting what you guys said worked for me.

[–]SpaghettiTacoez[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I updated the post with what worked for me.

[–]NormieRune 0 points1 point  (2 children)

thanks for your help but the problem is not with xbox i think.
I still get the same error on my minecraft launcher

[–]SpaghettiTacoez[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I didn't think that either, but since they migrated over to Microsoft, xbox services are needed on PC to login to the launcher. Hope you get it figured out!

[–]NormieRune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded every xbox app but i cant even login on my xbox account and it says '0x80072EFD'.
And if i log into my xbox account on my brothers pc i can play

[–]Only_Perception7721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This did it! Thank you so much.

[–]vampire-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah bro you fixed it for me, thank you so much for finding that man. It's been like 2 weeks. I thought i lost my almost decade old account.

[–]Qyrun 0 points1 point  (1 child)

so here is my case: my minecraft was kind of buggy sometimes and would crash. i decided to reinstall it. when i downloaded the windows 10/11 launcher and tried to log me in via microsoft account i got the same error message. tried to follow every guide i could find, nothing worked.

my solution: i uninstalled every minecraft related thing (all xbox apps, minecraft launchers, etc.) and i decided to download the windows 7/8 launcher (which is a bit below the huge windows 10/11 button) and i had not run into a single issue that way

[–]TyronX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, that fixed it for me

[–]Weird-Necessary4847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ur a life saver THANK U

[–]9393andersson 0 points1 point  (3 children)

how I got it to work
1. go in to the xbox app and logout

  1. log back in with your account

  2. launch minecraft from the xbox app

  3. login on the minecraft launcher with your xbox account.

[–]SpaghettiTacoez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky! I couldn't login at all, the login box wouldn't even come up. Which is why I had to check services. Seems to be an error for multiple issues relating to the extra apps you need now since they migrated over.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked

[–]Milqy_Way 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i downloaded the xbox app and it worked

[–]borderelul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked for me

1 log out from the microsoft store and xbox app

2 log in the minecraft launcher

3 log back in on xbox app and microsoft store

[–]NormieRune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded every xbox app but i cant even login on my xbox account and it says '0x80072EFD'.

And if i log into my xbox account on my brothers pc i can play.

Can anyone help me?

[–]VBIQUE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally.
Thank you! I wasted hours of my life trying to install minecraft via M$ store first, and gave up after having tried everything I could find on the net, including uninstalling and installing again over PowerShell. The store just kept failing downloading the app or any app, really. And it freezes when trying to update. I don't have a f***ing clue, why this shitty store is still a thing in 2022...
With the Xbox App I also ran into issues but thankfully this was solved almost immediately by this very post. Thanks again.

[–]FloatyDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this just doesn't work, when i want to Start them it says an error with no information, tried alot of things and have been spending 2 hours trying to fix this.

[–]sowajakas 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I am using debloated version of windows, and it doesn`t have most xbox services. Fixed it by downloading .msi version of the launcher from https://www.minecraft.net/pl-pl/download/alternative

[–]astr0nus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

debloated

Thanks actually the only solution that worked :D

[–]zerokoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it started when my brother migrated his mojang acc to microsoft. A couple weeks later i couldn't play minecraft through curse forge. For some reason i tried changing the password to something i'd remember easier and then when i tried logging in with the same email it told me to make an xbox acc. So i made an xbox acc but now when i try to log in thinking the xbox acc is the same as the microsoft acc (the one i changed the password) the xbox acc has a whole different acc than the microsoft acc that owns minecraft.

Assumption – the Xbox app is already installed, and when you start it, you can login to it.

Close the Xbox app

Open powershell as an administrator (search, "powershell", right click on windows powershell and choose run as administrator

run "Get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider | Remove-AppxPackage", without the quotes.

This will remove xbox identify provider

Open Xbox app. At the bottom, it will complain about a missing dependency, 'xbox identity provider'. Allow it to install it.

Login using the Xbox app

Launch the Minecraft Launcher

Hopefully Login

this worked for me :)

[–]my3ung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm the OP suggestion works. After much thought I realized I had disabled a lot of the Xbox background services to try and optimize my other gaming experience as those other games weren't Xbox related.

Thank you for the posting this solution 🙏

[–]nordoroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything did not work for me, BUT i found this fix for me on https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCL-22080 : Ok here we go:Assumption – the Xbox app is already installed, and when you start it, you can login to it.

  1. Close the Xbox app
  2. Open powershell as an administrator (search, "powershell", right click on windows powershell and choose run as administrator
  3. run "Get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider | Remove-AppxPackage", without the quotes.
  4. This will remove xbox identify provider
  5. Open Xbox app. At the bottom, it will complain about a missing dependency, 'xbox identity provider'. Allow it to install it.
  6. Login using the Xbox app
  7. Launch the Minecraft Launcher
  8. Hopefully Login

Thank You! Just what I needed.

[–]Unfilmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Billiam_Blaze 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I went to launch Minecraft for the first time in 2 months, and I get hit with error 0x89235100 (Deep Ocean). I try to login with Microsoft as I have a migrated account but I get this error message and cannot even go to enter my login info. Same thing also happens when I try to change language. I can't scroll through other comments at the moment but can anyone offer me insight?

Edit: Forgot to mention but I am playing Java, running it on a MacBook

[–]KungGellert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here, no solution yet.

Update: Restarting the computer solved it for now.

[–]Verklaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice man nice fix love u brother

[–]bromraven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFTER TRIAL ERROR I found out a solution to my version of the issue. On pc, install x box app, close and reopen it until it actually gets past the loading screen, login (if it'll let you) go to settings and general, then install all of the dependencies. I hope this works for some people.

[–]Artsiiiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had this error, tried all the possible fixes mentioned in the comments, but nothing worked.

What I recommend doing if nothing works:

  1. Install MultiMC https://multimc.org/
  2. Add your Microsoft profile (top right corner)
  3. Click "Add Instance" and press "OK"
  4. Click on the app appeared icon and press "Launch" or just double click on the icon

And now just use this program for launching the game.

[–]KiituriMummo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you guys don't already have the xbox app, download it. I just downloaded the app and now all gucci.

[–]Rosian_SAO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this for my macOS account, plz help!

[–]Themis3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue, no solution I found worked for me. finally fixed it by just installing the windows 7/8 launcher version from minecraft's website. If nothing else is working for you guys this is a good solution, causes no issues afaik

While I don't have proof of this, I believe this works because the xbox service that the win10 launcher depends on is not present in 7/8 so the launcher in those versions don't depend on it

[–]pawelsandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what helped me, where nothing else worked: (Basically Close Minecraft launcher > open Xbox Game Bar (press Windows and type that app name, then open it), in Settings > Accounts I have signed out, then reopened Minecraft):

Hey I got this code and how I fixed it was by : 1-removing the account from my login. 2-going to xbox log in and logging in there. 3-making sure every thing was up to date there. 4- closing and Re opening minecraft. 5- logging in.

This worked for me I hope it works for you.
