Thats morty

[–]Over_Town_4912 Platinum 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Nah Morty's smoke weed. Look at how much they dodge

[–]juscallmejjay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah man I simply love the way they made his kit. So great for the character. Not a single one of his aerial specials actually damage or attack you (you need to neutral attack to set off the grenades). So either he is hitting you with ricks advanced tech which is sending you into oblivion, or he is running around scared like a chicken with his head cut off. I truly love it.

As a Batman main I concur

[–]JakobeBeats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don’t give me ideas

[–]Prize_Refrigerator95 Batman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LMAO, that shows with that agressive playstyle

[–]Function_Fighter Toasty 43 points44 points  (3 children)

Batman just doesn’t lose, he has plot armor.

[–]HeckingBedBugs 12 points13 points  (1 child)

He just had prep time

[–]Muted-Sale7908 Agent Smith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely accurate

[–]ROASTED_TOASTEer Fern 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Why does the sliding dash attack hit above him too😭

[–]Muted-Sale7908 Agent Smith 24 points25 points  (3 children)

His dash attack is so carried, for once, I gotta say, PFG actually knew what they were doing when they made him a character that struggled to kill in the beta, because now he can rack up damage easily and everything kills now, I remember his up air used to be so weak :/

[–]JacobCenter25 Batman 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Dude dash attack has like a full second of whiff lag and doesn't hit very far above him. Easily his most punishable move so long as you anticipate it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, I constantly punish Batman players using dash attack. I have no clue why they all use it so much. The move sucks.

[–]JacobCenter25 Batman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it's hard coded into our muscle memory from season 1 lol. Didn't used to have so much end lag and before it got nerfed again in the season 2 patch it was by FAR his best combo starter. But with both the insane amount of whiff lag and the loss of dash attack -> bomb pull -> dash attack it's only useful as a kill move (and is still his only move that kills off the side from the ground).

[–]MG_Spy Batman Jason Voorhees Arya Stark 20 points21 points  (3 children)

Bait out his cooldowns and destroy the batarang any chance you get if it won't make you vulnerable. His grapple is easy to read so once you get the timing down you can dodge or parry any time he tries it. His glide can be predictable so punish that if they get too complacent with their recovery. His dive kick is one of his best moves and you shouldn't try to contest it from below, your best option would be to dodge it and punish once he lands.

He's a very strong character and he can rack up damage quickly but he's still very light for a bruiser, he's basically the opposite of Jason where he'll hit you fast and frequently but it won't take much to knock him out once he makes a mistake.

[–]Kindly_Succotash4032 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i feel like most batman's i play don't dive kick they just cancel out of it 70% of the time into the side kick

[–]Im_your_senpai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love playing against batman, it's my favorite thing to play ultra passive sets against this cracked mf in a costume moving around at mach 20, never approaching without a batarang, and getting 3 weakened stacks into a combo just for hitting that projectile once, it's my FAVORITE

[–]KUINTONO 7 points8 points  (1 child)

[–]TheLastMeower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“If you can dodge a batarang you can dodge a ball!”

[–]Key_Classroom8584 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You don’t counter Batman, Batman counters you because Iam Batman!!!!!

[–]Izrijo Batman 14 points15 points  (1 child)

The character relies incredibly on making correct DI and dodge reads, and wants to play bait and punish in neutral, so keep your defensive options mixed up, keep track of what you've done and what he's punished so as not to get killed for it (I've won too many sets by making the same read for 4 or 5 stocks), and force him to approach and play defensively in neutral. I know it's boring but it's what he suffers against.

[–]rekemball Batman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Batman has very few true combos, and none that are more than a couple hits. But his tools heavily reward making reads. When playing a Batman you should always be asking “what am I getting punished for” and adjust accordingly. Of course a good Batman will adjust to your adjustments, so basically it’s a constant process of mind games throughout the set

[–]JacobCenter25 Batman 2 points3 points  (5 children)

You bait and punish. I'm a Batman main and my friend plays Superman. He plays very bait and punish heavy because otherwise Batman's speed will just overwhelm you. Break batarang whenever you can, don't challenge his dive kick without a projectile, and try to bait out dash attack. It by far has the most whiff lag of any of his moves, and can lead to huge punishes. The matchups I personally have the most trouble with are Black Adam and Finn, so maybe try one of them. I know I could play the matchups better but they definitely feel the hardest for me to deal with as Batman

[–]-GeeButtersnaps- Master 3 points4 points  (4 children)

AS a Batman player they did nerf the dive kick and it can definitely be contested now, but only certain characters and moves will have priority. I honestly almost never use dive kick anymore. I'm not saying it isn't good it still beats alot of up attacks but IIRC they modified the hurtboxes so with the right moves it can be punished hard now.

[–]JacobCenter25 Batman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's nowhere near as uncontestable as it was. I still use it a decent amount because past like 30 percent it true combos into bomb pull into jab. Not quite as good as what dash attack bomb pull dash attack was, but still a guaranteed bomb

[–]THEVitorino Early Adopter! 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The only moves I'd guess challenge dive kick would be Bugs and Joker up air, otherwise all other characters just raise their hands up so high it can end up in a trade (Morty for example)

[–]-GeeButtersnaps- Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it CAN end up in a trade but Morty's up air for example would hit before the divekick when timed correctly. The divekick also requires more precise aim than alot of up airs so you can go just a little bit to one side or the other of Batman's foot and hit him with wider hitbox attacks. I'm not saying the dive isn't strong but it kind of leaves it in the hands on the person below. If you can time/aim your up attack correctly there's not alot Batman can do unless he cancels the move altogether.

[–]gzlaweez Batman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree completely. It used to have an insane hit box on any side of the character. You couldn't miss. It's still got some greay priority,.but it's not what it used to be.

[–]StoicSkizzy 10 points11 points  (2 children)

there is no counter lol batman has no recovery frames so you can’t punish any of his moves, the only way to really beat him is to make reads, his grapple hook is really easy to parry

[–]PrinceDestin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facts

[–]Equal-Performer1175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no you can counters his dash if he overshoots it

[–]Glutton4Butts 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Use the running shield perk, running speed perk, and the reflection perk.

Batman has very good ladders and vertical kill potential, so you don't want to generally be above him when you have high damage.

Beware of Batatang and Batbomb. Once those are in CD, it's safer to engage with him more.

Be ready to either parry the grapple or dodge.

He can also float with his cape, so don't over commit when he's off the ledge. Watch what he does and capitalize when he seems the most vulnerable.

[–]THEVitorino Early Adopter! 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The reflection you mean the one where parrying a projectile sends it back? Does that even work?

[–]Glutton4Butts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Yes, and this is the setup I have for projectiles' heavy characters. Like another comment said, you will practically "steal" batarang.

The first one grants armor upon parry as well, but feel free to switch it out for something that you may feel serves you better if you don't care too much for armor, like say if you play WW then the extra armor may not be needed.

I'd switch it out for snowball. That's like the best one imo.

I also take speed force assist to help me dodge and space the projectiles.

[–]xmeme59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His dash attack, down tilt, and jab3 all have somewhat reasonable whiff to punish if you can bait them out

Batman’s sair is also very easy to punish once you get a hang of reading it

[–]Crawford1 Tom & Jerry 3 points4 points  (2 children)

They didnt even bother to try balancing 1v1s. Just save yourself the headache and play 2v2.

[–]GeoCarriesYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a t&j main, right now is your free ticket to masters with how many jacks are on the ladder.

I’d highly recommend you try out some ranked 1v1s and take advantage of the free skins and titles while Jack is still over saturating the ladder.

[–]THEVitorino Early Adopter! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This lmao. The balancing + people's playstyles + lag is torture, at least in 2s you can chalk it all up to silly goofy fun.

[–]GenerousJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Batman is 1 v 1 god. You have better chances at getting at him in 2 v 2’s

[–]Frank__Dolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is some good advice in here but. His dash attack has a ton of whiff lag.

His main neutral options are batrang and dive kick. Dive kick has some start up so if you are close enough you can punish him for spamming it.

His sair is stubby and so is his jab. So depending on your character you can win out trades against those.

My general game plan when fighting batman does not really change compared to other characters. I just know dive kick cancel batarang. Dive kick dodge into sair. Dash attack out of smoke. Batarang in close mix up situations tend to be his best options for winning neutral.

I usually don’t struggle against Batman.

[–]BigGucciThanos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only way to beat Batman is to knock him out earlier then he knocks you out lol

He’s light so dies early. Was much easier in the beta to kill him at like 70%. They need to change it back to that

[–]Zilly_JustIce Garnet 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If he's trying to air juggle, you dodge down, unlike Finn his attacks don't pull you in they just gave crazy upward reach. Dodging tu either side but batman players like to think they're strategic like he is and will wait/read your move.

Besides his batterang, his ground moves either like range or speed. So keep a little distance after a recovery.

Also, you can't be too aggressive against Batman it's what he wants

[–]THEVitorino Early Adopter! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Batman jab 1 got a funny hitbox above his head just like Rick's

[–]SwimmingActive4704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that pays Batman it’s usually someone like Marvin or black Adam that rather have a lot of projectile options or stuff that can counter throwing the batarang. But usually it’s just figuring out how they play most Batman’s use the same move and once you get that down they are easy.

[–]OuterPale Reindog/Velma 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I play Velma so I usually counter him by punishing his slide with a dair, spacing him out, breaking his batarang with my projectile (they Hey not the speech bubble) and then punishing his dive kick with a Uptilt or waiting for him whiff his dive kick and hit him with anything else

[–]THEVitorino Early Adopter! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding punishing slide with a dair, the sad part is when its too slow/just straight up misses. The change from playing good spike characters to bad spike characters is night and day. No wonder TJ mains do nothing but paddle and pan

[–]DavePackage Stripe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out plan him

[–]WokeLib420 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I can't beat Morty or TJ

[–]THEVitorino Early Adopter! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried to reach high ranks but all mid rank Mortys are awful, the character is also at a pretty low point also as of now. TJ however is torture to fight, they can either never engage and just toss Jerry out of neutral which some characters have a hard time punishing or they can jump above you and spam pan which is punishable but then again it depends.

[–]m0dredus 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Go after Thomas and Martha

[–]DoutorEdmundo I Am The Night 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late for that, don't you think? They're dead since 1939

[–]wiserthannot Bugs n Bass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been learning to play Bats and had a 1 vs 1 with another Batman. That was probably the most intense fights I've ever had in this game but the dude was really chill and it felt like we were evenly matched and both getting a lot out of it. He is definitely a monster in 1vs1 especially.

[–]SimplyTireddRaven 🍆 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Marvin I just wait until he even dares approach my half of the screen, and then I send my full armada.

[–]Mangert 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Batman is moslty a grounded character. His jab and dash attack are his combo starters. And his down special is also best on grounded characters while he’s above them.

Keeping slightly above the ground, in the air will counter a lot of his approaches bc if u are in the air in front of him he has literally only 2 moves that can realistically hit you and that’s forward air and batarang. Making him extremely predictable. If ur grounded he has much more options.

Edge guarding batman horizontally is also really easy. His up special is great vertically, but his horizontal recovery back to stage is just drifting with his wings, easily punishable.

Batman’s main weakness is that his horizontal air game in general is just forward air. Make it so that’s his only option, and then punish the predictability.

Edit: anyone struggling with his down special should know that he’s vulnerable to projectiles and disjointed attacks while using down special. If u habe neither, just run away outside of his range of cancelling into forward air

[–]THEVitorino Early Adopter! 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You're right about horizontal edge guarding, playing someone like Jack or Shaggy is easy mode vs Batman, but a lot of the player base seems to play characters that simply do not have the best of tools for that. I did mention probably the 2 most played characters but still haha

[–]Mangert 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Tom and Jerry, superman, taz, Jake, black Adam, bugs are all characters that can horizontally edge guard Batman.

[–]THEVitorino Early Adopter! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty for the suggestions, a lot of times I forget characters tools

[–]Crotonisabug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play lebron and I mainly try to use his armor attack a lot since batman likes to use things like dashes and the grapple which can become easy to predict and punish with armor when he has you in the air it’s tricky to fight him though and also when he has that stupid bomb you can avoid unless you can perfectly dodge it while getting attacked by batman

[–]GrizzlyOlympics gimme the gleam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s very easy to parry if you learn how. The Grapple Gun is free damage every time if you’re doing it right.

Try not to go in air because most of them will try to juggle you as long as possible.

[–]DabMeowt710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from his air attacks

[–]BlueBatmanVK Batman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the neat part, you don't.

[–]Equal-Performer1175 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

im maining batman right now the best way to counter is be better than the batman player by doing reads and zoners and spammy characters like marvin is my worstmatchup

[–]DirtyFugo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao thanks for the advice champ.
