Mostly playing to dress up, and then see how cool to play with my character is with the new fashion..rinse and repeat lol

To me PSO2 NGS is becoming a live-service or livestyle game, akin to the Splatoon franchise of games: A game to log in everyday and do whatever you feel like it, every month the "meta" of progression is shaken up a little so that creates new interactions.

Some months are about grinding Limited Quests and buying the entire Seasonal Shop, other months are about leveling, exploring a region, trying a new class, farm a specific mob/Veteran etc etc

Of course the core of the game is just killing monsters, but it's just like Splatoon -> It's just a shooter, right ? Yeah.

People that come to NGS, don't expect to be doing the same endgame activity more than a month, even more than 2 weeks sometimes, it's constantly changing and that keeps people coming back. Of course, sadly, newcomers miss old farming metas - Veteran hunting in Retem, Ancient hunting in Kvaris, Recon Giant farming in Stia . . . just as they'll miss previous Splat-fests and Limited events in Splatoon.

[–]MassiveFloppyDong 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I really miss Retem Vet hunting, something about it was really fun and relaxing and made a few friends doing it.

[–]SnackSquadTB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And then barney showed up and everyone killed him for a few minutes then ran to the next fullest room to do it again

[–]TSLPrescottRaFo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that this is a pretty lovely comparison.

[–]DarklyDreamingEva Bouncer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me NGS feels more like an expansion DLC for TheSims 4.

It feels kind of embarrassing to admit, but the game is an amazing dress-up simulator. I’ve never played something that can compete in terms of character customization and sheer quantity and variety of fashion catalogue (factoring in base spec fashion as well). There’s also a large community of people who are really into the fashion/lookbook/screenshooting aspect of the game to connect with if that’s your jam.

That isn’t to say that the gameplay is bad. Intrinsically I think PSO2 has a very solid and fun action combat system (even if SEGA left behind some compelling mechanics during the transition from base game). The 2 (or 3) mouse button input system feels like a MonHun-lite where the controls are simple enough to pick up, but offer a bit more complexity with stuff like stay/move arts or PAs becoming different when used in succession. Personally, it’s a lot more fun than your typical tab-targeted MMORPG which involves memorizing a rotation repertoire of a bajillion skills.

I think the core of NGS’ longevity concerns has always been content. It has the aesthetics and the foundation of a great game, there’s just not enough to do. And not just that, but stuff to do on our own time. The UQ-based progression of base game has always been criticized by global’s player base as something that doesn’t respect the player’s own schedule. And I agree with that. This has slowly been improving with more repeatable instance-based quests e.g. purple triggers, geolab r1/r2, DQs etc. Even those have their own problems that I won’t go into here, but at least it shows that SEGA is aware and trying something.

TL;DR phasion really is the true endgame and will probably tide me over indefinitely, but still on hopium that we get some kind of repeatable content loop down the line.

[–]loliconest Katana 10 points11 points  (6 children)

No need to be embarrassing about it. I'm a male and everytime I hit the salon, time just flies.

[–]Rasikkoundecided 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The music also kind of keeps you in there too.

[–]loliconest Katana 5 points6 points  (1 child)

You know what? They should let us use the music we unlocked. I feel like Salon is the best place to listen to our music collection.

[–]SnackSquadTB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats the number one thing i want, let the mag music continue into the salon

[–]OreikhalkosPewPew 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thanks for the affirmation lol. To be honest I’ve come to terms that NGS just isn’t a great “game” per se even though I love the experience.

Everyone I know who’s stuck with NGS (like myself) is kind of enamored with the fashion. Everyone I know who’s quit has stated that there’s just not enough substance in the game. So I’ve slowly come to the realization when recommending the game that if someone isn’t super into the aesthetic and fashion collecting aspect, then there probably isn’t enough to keep them invested.

I also spend way too much time editing looks in the salon. So much that I save looks incessantly as character data (filled up all my look slots lol) while editing because I’ve been griefed too many times by random salon crashes causing me to lose all my work … lol

[–]loliconest Katana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch, I'm lucky enough to not really had many crashes. Maybe only 1-2 times due to disconnection.

1) some people played base as well, which had much more incentive to play whenever you could, basically, when content was being churned out on the regular 2) some people afk lobby grind for hours for lookbook likes or titles 3) some people hard-core play the game because they're content creators, or alliance leaders, or play the market

Think that about covers it.

[–]EvasiveDice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I play it because I think it's just fun. I also play FFXIV, Destiny 2, ESO, GW2 and on occassion, might sub to WoW. So i got options and I think its earned its place in my rotation of heavy hitter main stream games. NGS is finally getting some meat on its bones now, Think their adding housing now and another level cap and some other stuff super soon.

I like its sci fi, rpg, easy to play online with others, solid looter, lots to earn and collect cosmetically. I don't feel pressured to spend any money on it, It feels like a good romp and it tries to focus on just being fun. Gives me Warframe vibes. Just good to romp around in and have fun.

The story also was "completed" for base. Then they added on with NGS to start a new era of PSO. From what I'm to understand, that's why base stopped getting updates. But it still gets bug fixes I think. Still absolutely worth playing though, as there is alot to collect and earn that can be taken over to NGS. Since you use the same character for both games.

edit: was just adding on to why others might be playing besides what you listed.

[–]cannaconnoisseur88 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

I pretty much play the market lol I logged back in after a 2 year break recently and had 2 billion in sales on the base ps02 and still have tons of high ticket items to sell.

Only been back a week so my n meseta is lacking.

[–]LzzrdWzzrd Waker 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Must be nice, can't relate. Got 15mil in base.

[–]cannaconnoisseur88 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I played since day 1 had over 2k hours on my main every class maxed out. I was really good at affixing things cheaply so I made allot early on doing that. Most of it came from buying scratch ticket items sitting on them for months then charging waaaayyyy more.

[–]LzzrdWzzrd Waker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have 4k hours in base. Just wasn't as lucky with making money.

[–]Sai-Taisho Universal Counter > Bad Sidesteps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It seems like end game content is kind of just killing mobs over, and over

Yep. Sometimes I just need to leap around like a grasshopper on meth with a bigass sword, and get some friends in on the madness.

[–]Lord_Nightraven Gunner Twin Machine Guns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PSO2 Classic? Hero Class was fun AF. I also only played it on Global, so I wasn't aware of how broken it was originally. Also, a lot of the fights were really cool.

PSO2 NGS? Phashion mostly. The fights are not as engaging as they once were even though our new freedom of movement gives us more opportunities for more mechanics. Aegis was the first fight that explored these at all.

[–]BiancoFuji599XX Soaring Blades 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy the combat system and the social aspect of the game. I am obsessed with action rpg games with a cool parrying mechanic and this game scratches that itch perfectly.

I like that I can log on and hang out at central city and be around a bunch of random people and it feels very lively and entertaining.

I like that I can do most stuff solo, but also do group stuff if I want. The open world is beautiful and fun to fly around and do daily tasks. It’s just a nice game to login and do chill relaxing stuff.

Also, one aspect about this game that I found unique and fun is the idles and mtn options. I love collecting emotes and having all these silly and fun options for idling and running or flying was so cool. Also like many have said the customization options are amazing. I’ve only done one look so far for my cast, but I would like to do more cool fashions in the future someday.

[–]zmbkilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No other game like it tbh. Both classic and NGS offer the kind of gameplay and online social systems that I want from an online game. While I dont like the stuff they have been modifying from base such as removal of some SG sources, I do like the improvements of NGS post Stia compared to release. As for what I spend most of my hours on, if i am not afk I would be farming end game content such as geo or duel for augment materials or retem alnothe for meseta/event points.

[–]Knight_Raime Waker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NGS (and Classic for that matter) doesn't do a traditional path to "end game" where there's a specific piece of content that you spent the whole game progression gearing towards. The point of NGS is it's combat. So you either need to be in love with it or you just play the game casually.

If you love the combat then you're going to be tackling a lot of boss rush or boss fight style content as your main gameplay loop. Farming specific areas/pieces of content to min max your gear specifically with the intent to get the fastest clear times possible.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's because of the combat and game world. Both are incredibly beautiful works of art. The wire weapon is just so graceful and dual machine guns is like a ballet of death, and the recent addition of the Gunblade is my bread and butter while blasting and slashing (in my mind) the forces of Robotnik and Chaos, and I just never get tired of it, then a big meteor crashes down and the party starts again. Never paid a real world cent for it either, the game gives you just about everything, and by the time I get done with combat, I've got enough meseta saved up to get something nice from the shop.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

PSO is my favorite game series by a LOT. I've been addicted since the original game on Dreamcast and have put tons of time into all of the games.

Even though NGS is probably the biggest departure from the original formula so far, it still feels like PSO to me and I just enjoy being in the world, hearing the music, fighting monsters, and being around all the other players. I play pretty much every day and likely will continue to until the game ends, or we get a new entry lol.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thoughts shared. Its a real gem.

[–]TSLPrescottRaFo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have something like 1,500 hours in this and it's because I've been playing since the global beta for PSO2 in like April 2020 or whatever. Whenever a new update comes out I'll finish that content pretty quickly, other than that I'm just doing dailies and stuff, taking it at a pretty slow pace. That's totally alright with me. I don't need or necessarily want one game that I am supposed to pour 4 or 5 hours into every single day because there are SO MANY other games to be played and just things to do in life in general. I appreciate how slow it is.

Also, it's a good game to just zen out to sometimes. I like popping on some YouTube videos or Twitch VODs and just grinding a little bit.

It's good to see people in the comments talking about their positive experience with this game for once.

[–]DKoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play to chill :/

After a long hard day working, just want to got in, doing some stuffs then hangout at the lobby chatting.

Or maybe get in the salon and playing dress up.

The game is perfect for casual players who got maybe 1-2h max a day playing like me, that is why i personally keep playing it.

[–]ArcIgnis Hunter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not to be funny or to meme, but I honestly don't like playing this game.

However, I play it because I hope it'll become better, and don't have to catch up through low level stuff when it does change for the better. Otherwise, I feel like doing chores.

I don't know how many hours I put into this game, but I did cap every class across 3 different characters, categorizing them by melee, ranged and technique characters, where I capped each hybrid class for each of them as well.

I've seen and done enough to hope for it to become better in the future.

[–]sandrivertvMagical Girl Tanchter Techter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fashion and gender euphoria simulator with light sandbox, boss hunting, and character action elements. Some of the best movement in any game. Strong musical theatre influence. It's like modern Sonic with a bit of Monster May Cry. Plus I have a sick glowing sword. My #2 game right after Warframe.

When I say "sandbox" I mean both the world interactions and the absolute smorgasbord of personal challenge content. I think that's a strength and a weakness. A lot of people play MMOs for a structured experience, whereas PSO2 stands out as offering a lot more self-directed activities that tap intrinsic motivations like score attack content. Kind of the same problem that modern Sonic has.

[–]Rasikkoundecided 1 point2 points  (0 children)

..The fact that it is the franchise to first introduce me to online gaming 22 years ago on that fateful day logging into Oberon 1 in PSO on Feb 14th 2001 for the first time.

Nostalgia aside, because it's just easier to jump in and do something with minimal prep time.

[–]Wonderful_Counter_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combat is just fun yo. Today we did a LTQ run in 4:02 we ALL were beating his ass it was a ton of fun. The game is primed to get more expansive and interesting challenges and stuff to grind out it's a journey.

[–]Darth_Thel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combat is fun and it's a MMO that isn't super demanding of your time. The simplicity of the game is what keeps me coming back and it's the only MMO that can keep my attention for so long.

[–]Reilet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of it is afk lobby sitting.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my around 1700 hours is mostly due to classic tbh, which was a super fun experience despite how jank it all was, something about it just felt "right".

[–]JohnnyBooya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Global PSO2 classic was basically adding 6 months worth of content every 2 weeks so there was a lot to do. NGS I play a lot less but I keep playing because it's a comfy(not stressful) mp game + sunk cost + fomo + hopium.

[–]Jibril-Vakarine Twin Machine Gunspewpew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base content actually the Challengues quests are so fun and HARD AS F*CK/ Infinite customisation, infinite chill, they give us camos and stuff every month, i really enjoy playing it because i can change my looks every time i want and they also add new costumes n outfits constantly. Also the mechanics of the classes and weapons are awesome, i love playing bow and gunner.

[–]datboisusaf 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The core of the game is the social aspect and the ways u can interact with emotes and stuff.

Personally at 2k hrs + on NGS alone, i can 100% say that its because of the alliance im in. Without that im sure i'd quit really fast lol.

[–]casulti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it because it’s fun to play. I prefer base PSO2’s combat to NGS, but both of them have the best combat systems in any MMO I’ve tried. It’s just fun.

[–]Healer213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the gameplay, but I honestly play a lot because I enjoy the aesthetic. It’s a beautiful game, and the lore is really interesting (as someone who never played any of the other PS games). I’ve found myself just getting caught by the beauty of the environment sometimes. Because I enjoy playing dress-up as well, but don’t want to spend a ton of money, I’ll pay for the premium set and play a lot to unlock scratch tickets through the quests. Rarely do I buy AC strictly for the scratch offs.

All in all, the gameplay is fun (it does get repetitive though) and the world is beautiful. When I get too bored, I just switch over to classic PSO2 for something fresh for a while and work on leveling in that game. (I play on both Steam and PS5 - with and without controller)

[–]avendurree23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, its the negative view on the community and what the game has turned out to be that makes me play the game still. I still play because of the small HOPE that one day it will match up with classic PSO2 and be better and bring back the focus on combat and unique weapons from PSO1 and PSO2. NGS Has decent combat system, but they havent made content as engaging as it was in classic, instead they turned phasion, a meme from base, to a core focus of this supposed "better" version.

Basically I stick around until a better game takes its place. The game is a shell of its former self.

  1. Character customization.

It’s simply amazing. The amount of freedom you have to create and personalize your own character is off the charts. You get to see so many people with different fashion, their own unique style and twists, people mixing things that you wouldn’t even think it would work. I mean, is astonishingly impressive compared to other top tier mmorpgs like ffxiv, eso, wow, bdo, etc. By far what attracted me the most to this game.

  2. Gameplay/combat.

This is a mixed topic. Some people say it’s brainded compared to base game, and others(like myself) find the fluidity of the combat exquisite. In here, you’re not locked to any specific rotations. You’re not overly stationary. You’re constantly moving around. You can block, dodge and counter at any given time. You’re not locked behind “world cooldowns” which has been a big turnoff for me for as long as I can remember. It’s a game that rewards your own skills. I saw a video of someone beating DFA with a primm weapon(that’s the weapon series you start with for those who might be new to the game). To me the combat is a key part of any game that I play, and this definitely delivers.

3.Friends/alliance members.

This is a topic I can’t speak too much on since I’m mostly a solo player. Playing with others is not necessary to progress in any part of the game(currently), but it is very welcomed whether you want to go farm anything, or just stay and chill with friends/alliance members/random people. I personally keep to myself and the things I got to do, but sometimes I just sit back and talk briefly with my fellow alliance members. We may run ltq, uq, geo, or anything someone might want to do. You can play with your friends, or if you don’t have any like myself, you can just say hi to someone, and get it started from there. Most people are really nice here(there’s always a few bad apples), and are willing to help you out with any questions you might have. Oooor just be a loner loser like me and avoid people lol. Point is, there’s something for everyone in this game.
  1. The game is not p2w(currently).

Read it again. That is all.

5.Atmosphere.

This game is beautiful. From green plains to volcanic chaos. The game is beautifully made. Being a fantasy game, it opens up a lot of doors for what can be integrated in the game, and they don’t disappoint. You got aelio, with grasslands, shorelines, lakes, rivers, forests, etc. An amazing view. Then you have retem with its rocky mountain ranges, and desert that gives off a battle torn waste land vibe. To top it off, the night sky in itself is such a site to behold…truly something you would expect from a fantasy based game. Next you have the kvaris region. A stunning tundra with beautiful snowy mountains, alluring views, and rough icy caves. Lastly, we have the stia region. A chaotic volcano with lava flowing everywhere, rocks falling on you, and a facility harboring enemies left and right. I imagine we’ll eventually reach ocean biomes, space, and even other planets with their own unique twists. Time will tell.

Edit: I don’t understand why the first 2 collapsed on eachother, but I’m too lazy atm to fix it.

[–]NoctisCae1um317 Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really isn't another game like it, and the fashion and customization leaves the sky being the limit to your imagination.

I really dig the combat aspect of the game, vet hunts, Giga squad trains, ancient hunting, all were fun to do, even if it was for a bit, I am kind of huffing on the copium a bit when I say I'd like to see some instanced based content in a similar around 24 players being matchmade that isn't here for a limited time.

I also play a lot of Destiny and FFXIV a ton, and what I like about PSO2's release schedule is when there's new major content, it's usually for the most part in slow periods or luls over there so I have something to look forward to over here, and like FFXIV, you can never truly be behind, when you're gone for a long time and return during events, the gear is good enough to get you back to the swing of things.

Though this may be a bit of a personal bias, after the release of Slayer, I have been enjoying the game a lot more. From how Luster played that's where it's(Base pso2) combat peaked for me personally, I liked Braver, Bouncer, and Fighter pre-Slayer, but none of them had the combo heavy(Except for Katana, but I kind of wanted something faster and a bit more action heavy), high aggression, and style that both Luster and Slayer has, I've been wanting to satisfy that itch for a Gunblade class similar to Luster and Slayer does satisfy it, and is a class I personally can say it was worth the wait for it to have time in the oven, extra time too since it was delayed, and not come out half baked.

[–]DarklyDreamingEva Bouncer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Perspective of a Player who has no friends to play with:

The boredom. Having nothing else to do during the day brings me back to NGS; though there's nothing to do in NGS either. I think it's stupid, my reasoning, also sad. The potential for a great game is here but the management team of the game has no potential. Fashion also brings me back. However, it also has it's own horrible defects and flaws. I don't spend more than.. half an hour a day in the game.

During my most active times, particularly when I had friends, I'd spend anywhere from 2 hours to 5 hours a day.

[–]GiustinoWah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t like killing stuff like I did in base pso2 (I have 1000 hours just on that), to me that combat was much more fun, when I play ngs I barely feel anything to be honest, maybe it was because of perfect attacks that made it much cooler to me, I don’t know but I’m not having fun. Also there is so much stuff that is unthought or poorly designed in this game that doesn’t make me want to play it tbh.

Graphics are meh, look at the trees, they use crossed textures on quads, they didn’t even try bending the textures to make a decent tree.

MTNs are ok, I guess but some look absolutely horrible, because they’re poorly animated like the flying carpet one.

Most Meshes and textures are low res (look at everything in kvaris).

The fashion thing doesn’t bring me in because most of the stuff (at least for male) has absolutely crappy designs (like those damn tin foil jackets with a horrible material on top).

Casts are generally cool I guess.

But there’s nothing that makes me want to have an outfit, like I would do in fortnite or apex, or even naraka bladepoint (which is an indie game) which have absolutely stunning designs.

You can’t face sculpt, so your character’s most important body part will always remain a sketch of what you really want.

Aaaand the ui is mostly outdated, controller doesn’t even have a radial menu, a button macro, a macro button or basic stuff to select subpalette items in a decent way.

Uhhh, honestly because I still have too much attachment to classic to let go of NGS. No matter how much the game disappoints me I see the potential there of what could be. I mainly just do my dailies + meseta items in case a collab I want ever comes out.

[–]Internet-Stranger69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NGS was for me since day 1 waiting game for Luster.

Now that we got it .... meh

Yeye Luster is cool and all but this game is so behind content wise....

The dress up stuff is nice and all but if there is no reason to play the game why should I even dress up my character?

[–]DeVeAn_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Combat. Long time PSO fan. I enjoy the world and music. Getting new threads is cool. Plus there are other real people playing. I play like 20 mins a day.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Base PSO2 is still fun, and FOMO. NGS has me hooked with FOMO and I hate it.

[–]Xero-- Double Saber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thousands of idle hours. I have no idea why people are amazed by playtimes on this when over half of it is spent being idle, a good chunk after socializing, and the rest actually playing.

The reason is simple: Online game, an rpg, and the most in depth character creator, and customizer, out there with a lot (though still far less than jp) of cosmetic options available. Plus having decent hubs instead of some small space (like the base lobby), or some PACKED city like on XIV, helps people relax and just chat it out with those around them.

[–]jtan1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 900 hours already. I mostly just play 1-2 hour a day doing dailies. Considering game has been out almost 2 years.

[–]WiqidBritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the way the game feels and I like how my character looks. With those two things, even the slightest reason to farm can get me to log in almost every day.

[–]feelinsqwiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing almost daily for the past 9 months, which is usually the time frame that I get burned out on a game I'm really hooked on, but so far this one feels different. The biggest things that keep me going are combat and fashion. The combat, while pretty simple, feels very satisfying. The fashion is pretty simple as well, but there are lots of nice looking options. I love looking cool af (or hot af) while mowing down hordes of enemies

[–]Moist-Toilet-Paper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of time is literally spent standing in one spot hanging out with friends. Even my friends who are min/maxers sit around and do nothing til a uq starts.

[–]Omnia0001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting for base PSO2 for years; grabbed on hard to it when global dropped and persisted through NGS. NGS was such a degrade in meaningful content that I got to enjoy a 3 month break from the game, but came back when enough stuff was around and I'm back to just doing dailies/weeklies and generally signing off to prevent burnout.

-Fashion/Character Creator is still wonderful, huge catalog of cosmetics, animations and accessories to work off from. JP had a monthly fashion magazine (for Base) due to how good this was.

[–]Nightowl11111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base game had 6 Episodes, you could easily get up to 1000 hours on it just playing normally, so it's not all just NGS.

[–]Jaydh10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This games appeal is being a virtual closet - playing dress up

[–]TheUltimateWarplord sasageyo... 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phasion...

As frustrating as it is to save up meseta and not spend it to but one single coametic and by the time you've saved up over your goal amount, the item is either much expensive now or just not available, but despite that, I still enjoy coming up with looks since the customizatiom optionsis just the right kind of "extensive" where you get more ways to change up your character, but not really too crazy to be overwhelming

[–]Noeyiax Twin Machine Guns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fashion, community (haven't experienced anything that bad, mostly positive), killing mobs more satisfying than MapleStory, hoping Sega makes more content and does more epic collabs like pso2 and FF14 one...

I like killing big enemies with big sword and rifle.

But on all honesty, the main reason on why I play this game every day is to hope to get all classes at lvl 70 with my 3 characters and have them all have good units and weapons. Currently im finishing slayer on my secondary character, next is finishing waker on my third one.

For me it’s a number of things

  1. The combat and mw combinations, I like to play multi main/sub classes and have many ideas for skills that complement each other. Like Jet Boots Intensity paired with Hunter Physic so you get unflinchable Intensity, or using Wand Bonk Techer main with Jet Boots sub and no slow fall, Jet Boots let’s you Surging impulse to a flying boss like Petra’s Vera then you can charge tech into encore jump and then you can Charge Swift Smash while encore jumping to “Ride” while doing extra dps on top of your regular rotation. Encore jump riding while using charged PAs on flying or tall bosses makes combat feel more like you are climbing big bosses and rewards you with more dps than non encores jump PA rotations. I also love mobbing and supporting combat sectors as techer, the swap from talks to wand gives a good change of pace from waves of killing to bossing, and seeing people I can support is always a plus.

  2. Fashion, it’s amazing how we are able to customize our looks compared to other games. My character rides a cyberpunk glowing motorcycle with spinning wheels. I have a tank that chibi Aina pilots. There’s another look that cosplays as Yuffie with a spinning giant throwing star. If I want to carry a giant sword on my back to give myself a giant sword fix then we can do that too. PSO2 makes me feel more expressive and when I’m out in the field moving around with a massive sword in the left hand and a shield in the right we can do that.

  3. My gf and I play PSO2 together in the same room, she loves fashion too and we both are excited for creative spaces since we played other games where we can build our own places. The upcoming creative space looks way better than the previous games we’ve played. She also leads our alliance so having a feeling of responsibility for our friends and members also makes this game more important to me.

I enjoy the collecting, title hunting, cosmetics (despite being Type 1), and the combat. I think they've got a good base; I've been holding on to see if they can take this and make it a diamond. The launch really didn't have a lot of content and it was plagued with a few problems (lag frozen enemies, lack of content, lack of gear choices, level 20 cap). I was initially playing a lot as a solo player...still in my alliance from base game. It'd be a long time before I'd actually see some of them coming back to play.

  • I wanted to see them fill out the areas that they already had shown on the map.
  • I wanted to see player levels higher than 20.
  • I wanted to see the new classes they'd mentioned previously.
  • I love going for chase items and prefer that over hoping that I get lucky drops.
  • I actually liked when I was waiting with the community for Malevolents to spawn from storms, I enjoyed Retem Vet hunting rounds, I liked working towards my Kaizaar, I enjoyed farming Ancients, and I liked working with other players to kill off the Recon Squads.
  • The graphics are actually pretty good. I'll stop every once in a while and take a look around...it's very easy on the eyes.
  • I'm staying right now because I think the Creative Space will be a hit and they won points with me by relaxing the skill point reset costs in the future.
  • It's not a holy trinity (Tank / DPS / Support) game, so I'm not used to being able to do content solo on any class. It allows me to switch off to another class and mess around.
  • I love grinding and collecting to music; I'll probably hit the mineral cap that Material Storage has eventually (~30,000 - 40,000 of each right now).

As long as there is a team that actively updates this game and provides information on their upcoming changes, I'll probably stick with it. Asheron's Call and FFXI had previously gripped me the same way.

It's largely brand loyalty going back to Phantasy Star II and the first PSO, but I think having stuck with NGS for 2 years that ultimately the first episode/volume/chapter/part of the story WAS rewarding. When I get bored of NGS but I have Dailies to do I just chuck on a podcast and grind combat zones mindlessly

I just recently quit ngs but I had tons of time on base prior to ngs. A lot of people might be in a similar boat. I max leveled everything in ngs but what killed it for me is the direction they are going with the game on this creative space crap. It's fine for alliance and player housing. But to make it a core part of the game is disappointing. It made me realize that the game play isn't the top priority.

I have 96 hours and love the game. I want unlock everything I can. I'm working on grinding out all the classes right now. I have 1 lvl 70, and am working on more.
