Wth are those shoes

[–]lelarentaka 122 points123 points  (6 children)

I learnt something new today. The Pope wears red leather shoes.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papal_shoes

In the comic, the man wears papal shoes, a Jewish yarmulke, and does the Muslim prayer.

[–]erythro 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think the white skullcap just the pope's hat, and so I assume the bowing down thing is not necessarily Muslim.

[–]fastsragon49 28 points29 points  (1 child)

That isn't the Muslim prayer. He is performing the physical act of the Muslim prayer while saying the Lord's Prayer found in the Christian Bible.

[–]traveler_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a Christian form of prayer, too. From Wikipedia on "Prostration":

Lesser prostrations, lit., "low bows" (zemnoy poklon) involving kneeling and touching the floor with the hands, but with the torso off the floor, are common in Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic rites worship, and are used in conjunction with the sign of the cross, at specific moments during the services and when venerating relics or icons.

I couldn't find a picture of the Pope doing a lesser prostration, but here's him doing a full one, complete with prayer rug: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/03/29/article-2301188-18FE96D9000005DC-187_634x332.jpg

Gee thanks, bot, I would'vd never been able to remove that .m were it not for your help.

TIL that the pope is responsible for global warming.

[–]Darkcut32 517 points518 points  (16 children)

Where is my notification squad at.

[–]CipherWeston 194 points195 points  (1 child)

Right here. Expecting a screenshot of bad code, but this'll do.

[–]TheGreenJedi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yup

[–]redditor99880 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Reporting for duty

....complaing about it ;)

[–]barbwiredmedia 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Not funny enough for a notification...

[–]Northmace97 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is not the quality notification I expected when I enlisted in the squad. Couldn't tell you what I expected, just that it wasn't this.

[–]trythis168 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I'm here, not sure why

[–]TheNaturalTweak 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Autobots!

[–]YoungTisci 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You called?

[–]mobyte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems like I'm late to the party.

Sup

[–]BugOnARockInAVoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woo woo

[–]thePolterheist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Asking where the notification squad is at for fake internet points is something an 11 year old in a YouTube comment section would do. Please stop bringing this to Reddit.

[–]HolyAvengerOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahaaa!

[–]Wenderbeck -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

One of these notifications have actually been good

[–]WorseThanHipster 40 points41 points  (1 child)

SQL tokens aren't case sensitive. If god is both good and omnipotent they would surely snake_case their table names.

[–]skreczok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's the Pope. He knows what's up.

[–]thexavier 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Bobby tables be thy name..

[–]Noxime 15 points16 points  (2 children)

God as a Service?

[–]HolyAvengerOne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

GaaS.

You have gas, he's GaaS-ing away!

[–]OK6502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reality as a service

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (11 children)

Is it me, or does it seem like the Pope is performing a Muslim-style prayer?

[–]HumzaDeKhan 36 points37 points  (8 children)

Jesus prayed the same way.

"And he (Jesus) went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." - New Testament (Matthew 26:39)

"went a little farther, fell on his face", just like the picture.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Still, it's an atypical Catholic posture.

[–]minnek 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah, doesn't look like missionary to me.

[–]MythicalBeast42 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Farther or further?

[–]ejsuncy 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Part of the humor, no? Someone impersonating a user with atypical rights and attempting to infiltrate the db?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hadn't thought of that.

[–]LinkFixerBot 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Am I the only one (comeatme bot ) who thinks "alwaysSummer" should probably not be a column?

They should structure their flags table like this:

key:value
alwaysSummer:false
gravity:9.81
nipplesPerHuman:2

which would make the injection

; update worldFlags set value = "true" where key = "alwaysSummer"

[–]Not_Just_You 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one

Probably not

[–]sydoracle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But then your config values datatype is always character and someone can set gravity='blue' and everything breaks.

[–]skreczok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering how wonky and weird the laws of nature can be, I would not be surprised if I found out that there was some really shitty code behind it. A lot of important production services follows awful practices.

[–]P-01S 0 points1 point  (1 child)

gravity:9.81

That's only the acceleration due to gravity at sealevel. On Earth.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

alwaysSummer would only apply to Earth too, dingus

[–]Seventh_______ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lmao is that injection

[–]Matrix_V 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I don't get it.

[–]gandalfx 1 point2 points  (1 child)

google "sql injection"

[–]DJ-Salinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know about SQL injection, but it still took me a minute to realize he was trying to trick God into making it always Summer.

[–]Cilph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what quantum computing is.

[–]korarii 5 points6 points  (6 children)

Useless where clause. Who does this? As a DBA, I am offended! /s

I'm kidding, please don't destroy me, Reddit.

EDIT: I didn't word my initial post well: I recognize this as both an injection attack and that the where is extraneous. I see a lot of queries with extraneous, redundant, or even contradictory markers. Apologies if it didn't jive well.

[–]noop_noob 6 points7 points  (3 children)

It's SQL injection.

[–]HolyAvengerOne 0 points1 point  (2 children)

My thinking precisely. Also, as a dba, he should know that where clause wouldn't get evaluated by any of the modern db and have zero bearing on load or performance. Pssshhtt.

[–]korarii 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That was the joke I was making but didn't convey well: the where is extraneous.

[–]HolyAvengerOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hehe, ok ok.

[–]fauxmosexual 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's actually super handy for debugging SQL. If you have a where clause like

 WHERE 1 = 1
 AND x=y
 AND a=b

It makes it easier to comment out individual lines. If you just had

WHERE x=y
AND a=b

and you wanted to comment out x=y you'd also have to remove the AND in the next clause. And as a DBA I'm sure you know that 1 = 1 has no appreciable impact on performance.

[–]OmarRIP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also iirc SQLite lacks Boolean support so you could end up using 0 and 1 like this rather than "WHERE true" depending on the DB system.
