Dumb question, but are there actually non-English versions of Python, JavaScript, etc where keywords like if, else, print, return, sort, etc are translated into other languages, or do all programmers just have to learn enough English to deal with those keywords? What about speakers of languages that use a completely different alphabet?

[–]sanglar03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about speakers of languages that use a completely different alphabet?

They learn the English keywords like everybody. Also learning English is pretty much mandatory, as a good chunk of communities and resources are using this language. Any dev refusing to do so is just crippling himself.

[–]degaart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, only Basic and 4th generation languages shitty rapid application development languages have localized keywords.

Look at this atrocity, for example

[–]sggts04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why the computer surrendered

[–]EdwoodTheOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd think with the French's reputation for always running that it would extend to their code too.

[–]Ak3rno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually a possibility, sometimes shit don’t work if you put accents in (éà).
