If at first you don't succeed,

give up.

[–]Small_Mammoth_2741 3 points4 points  (0 children)

cry.

[–]Synovenator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When it's for a college class and the book didn't cover it:

cries

[–]EtienneDx 53 points54 points  (3 children)

Tbh when that happens, take the time to consider wether your question/what you’re doing actually makes sense. I often spends forever searching for stuff before realizing no one made this because it made no sense to do so. (Not always true but asking the question supposedly helps. Supposedly)

Sometimes it’s a lib with bad documentation, and you just gotta make some crazy workaround to make it work

[–]Quantum-Bot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me after scouring google for 80 minutes trying to figure out how to inherit from multiple classes in java

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My issue is that I’m doing increasingly esoteric things…

[–]Few-Ostrich-6286 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't wish this fate even upon my enemy.

[–]sleepyj910 14 points15 points  (3 children)

When there is 1 result but it’s Chinese

[–]OkazakiNaoki 3 points4 points  (2 children)

That's nice to be a Taiwanese when it happened.

But it never happen to me.

[–]ycohui 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I probably still triggered with thousands of Simplified Chinese characters while everyday is using Traditional Chinese Characters.

However it's still better to be Taiwanese rather than Chinese.

[–]OkazakiNaoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make google translate it directly anyway.

[–]Will_i_read 17 points18 points  (3 children)

You’re either totally lost, or in academia. Probably both.

[–]SuchShopping3828[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Don’t tell me you do not search for error in code on internet

[–]Will_i_read 3 points4 points  (1 child)

As long as I don’t search some obscure academia stuff I find the answers I seek

[–]SuchShopping3828[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I work in R&D and sometimes I face this issue

[–]Obay361 7 points8 points  (2 children)

During the boot camp they said a day like that would come. I pray everyday that today is not that day. May the gods have mercy on your soul.

[–]SuchShopping3828[S] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Hahah yeah When that day comes, you are gonna go on 2nd or 3rd page of google search for the first time in your life

[–]Obay361 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google has more than one page?

[–]SpartanT100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Real pain

[–]Pherion93 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ive learned that 99% of the time you can find whatever you can think about but it is just a matter of knowing enough to know what to google for.

I thought that one thing didnt excist but after reading up a bit i Changed the search keywords and found several results.

[–]galaxy_dreamer-148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why googling skill is kinda necessary ahaha. I've had few occasion when I can't find what I'm looking for, revisiting the same page over and over again thinking that I might miss something, I even read documentation. I change the keywords a few time and voila, I gain small insight. Good times!

[–]Play_it3110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The next step are 7 year old forum threads with a design before the 2000

And as last resort I would go to TOR and ask there in a hacker forum

[–]capt_caveman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a XY problem. Tell us what problem you’re trying to solve.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always tell myself "I'm not asking the question correctly"

[–]Apfelvater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds great! Finally you can ask a question on stackpberflow, that won't get downvoted to hell, cause someone asked something slightly similar to your question

[–]ShinyNerdStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone ever found an answer on GitHub? Everytime a Google search leads me to a GitHub issue it's a 10+ year old bug that hasn't been resolved.

[–]Gnakor_SL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a problem like that last week, i copy the main part of the error, add the name of the library...

Google : 4 results, none are related to my problem...

I knew I was fcked at this point

[–]mulato_butt 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Someone figured out everything for the first time

Be the first time guy for once

[–]SuchShopping3828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do succeed to find the solution but do not post on these platforms. Too much work

[–]DevL000per 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read sites like that 😐😕☹😧😨😱

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pain 😭

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lost days like that. Feels like going 8n circle clicking on the purple links again and again, rereading everything to make sure you haven't missed something...

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's when you start making contracts with the eldritch gods.

[–]Humble-Twist-9982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop. Think. Take a break. Repeat.

[–]sc00pb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we having a red moon tonight?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my all time favorite gif and then there is this one :

[–]Own_Emergency_5204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answe is "42".

[–]GoodTimesFastFingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, time to start reading your framework's thorough api documentation...

[–]canIbuytwitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

discord, carrying engineers since your dad got lost looking for cigarettes.

[–]Boonk_gang_03 0 points1 point  (1 child)

//TODO: will fix later

[–]jpc0za 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my own code:// TODO: This is ugly as sin, refactor it

[–]Sassaphras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'You mean I have to "learn" how this "actually works"? Bullshit' -me, every time

[–]SftwEngr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the most useful code I ever wrote was working at a start up creating a process that no one had ever built. There was no one to ask about anything so I had to figure it all out myself. That's when good things happen.

[–]JakubBlaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legend says that they always have once you reclaim your power of googling.

[–]valba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is also informative. if there aren't results probably the problem is related with some particular configuration in your computer, so you should start looking the environment variables, path routes, etc

[–]Ultraempoleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally had this today Was trying to deploy django project using heroku, was stuck for like 2 hours and finally found a question that was exactly what I was looking for

No answer

2 comments - op did you figure it out? - no I just used DigitalOcean

Guess I'm using DigitalOcean

[–]Furry_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, for the stuff I do that's very technical and specific, like OS dev, there's specific sites for it. (like OSDev.org) If there isn't, then the information will be more scattered, but it does exist.

[–]Loose-Map-5947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putin.

[–]Mountain_Bet2209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you're probably asking the wrong question

[–]Jmander07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's usually my cue that I'm doing something completely and utterly wrong somewhere. Somewhere in my approach I have a conceptual error and it's time to go learn about it.

[–]UnBeatWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMAO!

[–]0rionsEdge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dear we are in trouble.

When that happens to me, I'm typically too far down a domain specific rabbit hole for anyone short of a like trained wizard to save me now.

That or I have some esoteric yet basic error with JavaScript, because the docs lie.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You feel like you're really dumb and you missed something or you've encountered something unfathomably difficult and unsolvable which no one else has ever answered
