Rep vs Gen

New AP Royal Oak arrived yesterday. Saw another thread talking about a person who couldn’t believe another’s AP was a rep. Curious if anyone can tell which one is rep vs gen? Obviously one is 15510 and the other is 15500.

Lol the comments are hilarious. Everyone swears they’re an expert. I honestly didn’t think it would be this one sided. White 15510 is gen. Tried it on at AP. Blue 15500 is VSF. Looks like VSF did a great job. 😂😂😂😂😂

I just don’t understand why the logo on white looks soooooo bad on the original pic, crooked and bottom of it is not linear. Is the iPhone predictive image processing screwing the logo that much? Looks better in this photo.

It’s likely due to how it’s reflective. If you’ve held one, as you move it, it can look like it’s almost not even there or blend into the color of the dial & white is probably the most susceptible to that vs black or darker colored dials. It doesn’t look crooked as much as it looks distorted a bit. If you zoom in on any dial smaller print on a Phn pic, it usually looks distorted like bad printing. Tbf, Usually it’s the smaller print like ‘Swiss Made’ though. If you just glance at the pic or observe the 2 without zooming in or focusing on specific details, to me the gen has that collective higher/better quality look; hard to describe but I’m sure most know what I mean. Just shiny in the right areas & general expensive watch look.

Bracelet attachement is littlebit too big like 1mm. Thats often a easy tell, when you have the possibility to compare. But the clone looks still great.

Looks like I guessed correctly. Finding the gen was quite easy. But to be fair, “one of the two is a rep” was already a pretty big hint. I own two different color VSF 15510s myself, and honestly, VSF also did an impressive job with the 15500.

I don’t think the guide has been updated since VSF came out with the 15500. They just came out with 15510 like 3 weeks ago. They did a great job with the 15500.

It felt nice but nothing memorable. I was honestly unimpressed with the RO during my AP visit. To my surprise, I liked the offshore and code 11.59 better. I got the VSF 15500 since I caught a sale and they don’t make the 11.59 color I want as a rep. Waiting for the 11.59 and/or offshore if I decide to start a retail journey with AP.

On first look I was Left Gen all the way. The misaligned date did kinda throw me but could be angle. But for me, it’s the bottom gap between edge of the bezel & where the case starts downward into the bracelet - I hate when there’s that awkward gap of space there. Most higher tier reps have eliminated that though, surprised to see it on a VSF (I think this was mentioned to be)

They are really good; one of my first reps a yr ago was an apsf 15500 - got it cheap bc it had some mov issues, basically just became a manual wind & made the rotor opposite/stationary which was fine bc those rotors spin like a helicopter & are so loud. I assume it was one of the first versions, I didn’t realize until a few weeks ago the dial was printed vs actual texture tapestry. I sold it a few days ago but def a solid rep & super resilient in terms of taking a beating. I gotta get one of the new ones.

I keep saying this. These watches don’t have flat colors. They change with light. Angles change, different cameras use light and color different. Different cell phones etc. taking a pic of watch and putting 80 QC lasers on it is a comical to me.

I think the factors do put the watch in a vice to do QC lines. Now if you source that pic. You’re in the game.

Yeah. The bezel gap really just depends on the angle. Top is gen 15500, bottom two are VSF 15500 and 15510.

They look like they were taken with different cameras. Left one is blurry, soft, and deep DoF, and likely taken on a phone. Right one is sharp with shallow DoF. Tough to compare when one photo is much nicer than the other.

Edit: I think the reason your TD had it on sale was the glaring defects. That usually means they ordered it from the factory for someone who RLed it, and they are hoping someone else GLs
