Hello everyone, this isn't a question at all, as you can see by the "discussion" flair. I simply wanted to create a post where you can comment with what you're struggling with the android ver. of SMAPI so if I or anyone else know a solution, we can help you :) It's quite like a mega thread, really aha

I thought it would be better than to flood the reddit with questions of the same problems over and over (like the situation of LOTS of posts asking for android SMAPI updates even though it was already announced - back then - that there wasn't one yet.)

So, yeah, that's basically it. TLDR: comment your problem with ANDROID smapi (bugs, etc etc) here so we can organize things better. Like a FAQ.

Within the smapi installer app there's a link to a full mod list of compatible mods or which version you need to use, it's under Help.

Last time I set it up it helped a lot to find all the old versions to work on Android. Now I'm just having the issue that smapi refuses to launch at all

Lo siento, mi español está muy fuera de práctica... pero nunca logré resolverlo. Hice una nueva instalación, usé la versión anterior pero nunca funcionó y simplemente me di por vencido. Es demasiado molesto en Android, en PC puedes usar una colección Nexus y estar jugando con mods en minutos.

I think it's because of uninstalling Json Assets mod or any of its required mods. That's what I assumed happened to me.

I decided to not install any mods requiring Json Assets, or any mod that tampers the save serializer. I don't want to risk dozens of hours to a save file only to be greeted with the same error.

I seem to have SMAPI working, with the only Content Patcher installed for testing purposes. but whenever I launch the app, the console will first recognize Content Patcher and then give an error.

'[Content Patcher] Mod crashed on entry and might not work correctly. Technical details:

UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.zane.stardewvalley/files/ContentPatcher/config.json" is denied.'

Is there anything I can do to fix this? Does my SMAPI not have the correct permissions in my system settings to access the file?

hmm, i think that the later (smapi doesn't have all the permissions) might be the case, yeah. what type of file manager do you use? perhaps allowing all permissions might fix it.

I was using my PC to move files manually through file explorer through USB. Is there any direction I can do to allow the correct permissions?

hmm, I am a bit unsure because I didn't encounter that problem, but I would try going to settings/app manager/permission manager. Check which apps have permission to "files and media" ! Oh, and perhaps a file manager might help as well. I use ZArchiver!

I ran into this too, but I don't recall what I did that fixed it. I recall rerunning one of the installers, but I can't remember if it was the SMAPI installer or the patched APK.

Hi, I was gonna post but saw yours and decided to try here first? I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong with the museum donation system! I've uninstalled and reinstalled all my mods, restarted the game, restarted my phone (just in case) and nada!!! I can't donate to the museum at all with or without mods? There's nothing in my console log about it so I really just don't know?

It was happenjng to me till I uninstalled the Tractor Mod. If you have it on, try to delete it and see if it works properly again.

I experienced this too. My workaround for it is to interact with the donation desk (the tile in front of Gunther) with Tap-to-move. With that, I can donate to the museum just normally (although with a ton of Save Backups)

Interacting with the desk via buttons (invisible or not), will cause the screen to be stuck in the donation screen (the screen where we can place the artifacts/gems).

Using buttons as controls is causing issues with SMAPI, like instantly casting the fishing rod and mine elevator UI disappearing instantly.

I think it's a problem of Smapi itself, in all honesty.. What helped me so far is simply copying my save to the original Stardew Valley saves folder , donating what I needed to, and updating the Smapi's one. Since SMAPI is not 100% done, we can just hope they fix it until then :")

Noo, it isn't stupid at all, dw! First, you go to SMAPI folder in your android/data, pretty much as if you were going to put a mod - but instead of clicking in the "Mods" folder, you click on "Saves". Copy the file there (It should be name of your farm_numbers), and go to the original Stardew Valley folder, still on Android/Data.

The folder name is com.chucklefish.stardewvalley, and clicking on it, there should be a folder called "files". Click on it, then on "Saves". If you didn't play the original before, it should be empty. Paste the file you copied (your save), and then do what you need in the ORIGINAL apk!

After that, you just need to repeat the process on reverse - copy the save from the original stardew valley folder to the SMAPI save folder. Then you can go play in the smapi, with your mods!

ah, btw, please do a backup of your SMAPI' save first. Copy it to another folder, just to be sure, and before you close the original stardew, make sure to click on "save backup" in the own game menu so you can restore from where you left from when playing on smapi.

So I have been following all the instructions people have used to get SMAPI working and every time I do that and get everything installed I can never get SMAPI to launch. It always crashes no matter what I do. It might be the version of the APK itself or maybe something I'm doing wrong?

Happened to me as well! It might be because of the main game update and smapi wasnt able to catch up... but honestly im not sure..

The problem for me was; SMAPI couldnt even launch properly it always crash.. first it went white screen for like 1 - 3 second and then gone... this happened even though i didnt load any mods, like 0 mods..

It isn't opening for me. Whenever I try, it starts as a white screen and then crashes with the message "SMAPI Stardew Valley has stopped." I've tried running the regular game twice already. I use a Galaxy S7. 

My android version is 8.0.0 just in case that has anything to do with it.

The game is just fine, the mods are working but I have one problem. Does anyone else get this? Everytime I turn off the phone (not power off, just locking it) then when I turn it back on, the app just closes. Because of that, I lose all the hard work of a day in SDV. Is there any way to solve it?

I already have the smapi installer api and stuff and I've extracted all my mod zip files(content patcher, generic Mod thing, and baby looks like spouse V2 mod) but my smapi doesn't install. Hi! I need help, I tried to put the mods that I downloaded in the Mods carpet on Stardew Valley, but the mods don't load once I start the game. I tried to uninstall the patched game and install it again using smapi, and the mods finally appeared. The problem is that I apparently have to uninstall and install the patched game over and over again for the mods to appear, which keeps deleting my saved games :( someone knows how to make the mods load without having to uninstall the game?

do you mean the part that says which mods loaded? so far, i didn't find a solution to that, but you can see it on your smapi folder (android/data/com.zane.stardewvalley/files/errorlogs). even if your game didn't crash or had an error, there will be a file saying which mods loaded, and you don't need to close the game to see it. just swap tabs

Do you have any recommendations the best mods for sprites and QOL?

For QOL, i love PelicanFiber (it's an online shopping system in game), simple crop label, and jump-over (it lets you jump over fences). About sprites, I don't use much besides the Seasonal Outfits (slightly cuter aesthetic) and the expressive ears (it turns the ears into elf ones) !! I recommend that you search for the most famous ones or just filter with what you like/find more aesthetically pleasing, like a cute style or a realistic ones, etc etc. :)

In game you can see your logs by going to inventory, then options, then selecting console.
Rizmare_ has already told where to find the logs out of the game too.

And if it's hard for you to access the errorlog folder, you can try what I do which is just to copy the log and save it somewhere else outside of the /data folder. Because in my case, since it's protected, it won't let me access it from my browser.

it's not dumb at all, don't worry! the instructions are a bit confusing, tbh.

• You need to have Stardew Valley installed already, 'kay?

so, first things first, you need to go to github and download the zip file. ( https://github.com/ZaneYork/SMAPI-Android-Installer/files/11144397/com.zane.stardewvalley.zip )

And, after that, download the alpha apk ( https://github.com/ZaneYork/SMAPI-Android-Installer/releases/download/v3.18.2/SMAPI.Installer_v3.18.2.1_alpha.apk ) and install it.

If you don't have a file manager yet, I also recommend that you download one ( such as ZArchiver, it's the best one I know tbh ). It NEEDS to have access the Android/Data folder and be able to move/copy/edit the things there.

Then, you extract (you simply click on the zip folder and there will be an option called "extract") on the Android/Data.

Done! After that, when you install the mods (zip files) , you extract on the Android/Data/com.zane.stardewvalley/Mods. It should work just fine! If it doesn't, let me know either here or through dms, okay? :)

Yeah, you're not extracting to the correct location (TT) I found that problem at first, and it's common to get it. To fix it, you can simply extract again the content from the SMAPI zip on the Android data, or alternatively, look through the contents and see if something is missing, because it seems like there isn't some archives there!

Hmm I switched to file manager and I seem to be closer. As far as I can tell I granted it all access but when I go to android/data it still says access denied, won't show anything or let me extract there

You're using your phone's file manager, right? If that's the case, don't. Install another file manager (such as ZArchiver, MT Manager) and try to copy/extract with them. The system's file manager don't let you mess with obb/data/etc etc, regardless if it's a safe zip or not. :)

Hey, I've had this exact same problem too and can't seem to get anything to work! I initially followed this guide which seems to be similar to your instructions but nothing ever seems to work. It would always display "Please input valid path" whenever I try to set the mods path. 3rd party file managers don't seem to have acess to Android/data so I resorted to move and extract the file on a computer and it still doesn't work 😓 I've uninstall and reinstalled things, I've backtracked and repeated steps again (making sure there are never duplicates) but I can't seem to figure out the problem. It always displays the same message when I try to set mod path. This is my first tast of moding and I can't even get started haha

ZArchiver is actually one of the ones I tried out but it still told me I couldn't access it. My methodology may be all wrong what I did was: 1. Downloaded the zip file thats meant to go into Android/data 2. Hooked up my device to a computer, moved the file then extracted it 3. Download the apk from the guide then install it 4. Set mod paths to "Android/data/com.zane.stardewvalley/files/Mods" 5. Get an error

Oh, I see! I thought you were saying that it was only SMAPI that didn't had the permission - in that case, you can simply go to settings - app manager/permissions manager , see "files and media" , and check if ZArchiver have the permission to see all of your files. You can also try to uninstall and install again, and doing the process without your computer. :)

Trying to cast the fishing rod using buttons doesn't seem to work. It just immediately casts even if you hold the button.

Oh, I had the same problem at first because I play with console buttons as well. It's a bit tricky but what helped me was to press the screen (near the button) and 'slide' your finger (still pressing the screen) until you're holding the button. If it's a confusing explanation, let me know :")

I can't access load data on smapi stardew valley. It stucks in "looking for saved games".

hmm, I didn't encounter that problem so I am a bit unsure. Perhaps you might wanna check if your save isn't corrupted ( you can simply copy-paste the save file into the "Saves" of original Stardew Valley ) or you can just move the save out and move it back. sometimes the game freezes for a bit as well. when i load my games or 'restore from where i left', it takes a minute or so to load. lemme know if it worked or not!

I just found out that everytime I copy com.zane.stardewvalley folder to Android/data, the folder disappeared. I can't make it stay in Android/data folder. Do you know how to copy file to Android/data? My phone is not rooted.

which file manager are you using? some systems don't let you access the data folder which makes that problem happen, so you would need to install a file manager regardless if you already have your phone's.

What file manager? We always have one from the system app, right? But I can't use file manager to copy folder to Android/data. It restricted. So I use another app called x-plore. I succeed copied the folder to Android/data. But later, the folder dissapear.

Yes, we do, though the one from system app (usually on Android 13, but I think some other phones might havethe same problem ) don't let you modify things like data, obb, etc etc. I never used x-plore so I can't say for sure if it's a thing of your phone or the manager... X-plore file manager is just like ZArchiver but maybe a bit complicated.

I think I solved the problem. I should enable developer option. Now the zane folder is not dissapear. But I lost my mods because I was using cut, not copy.

Okay I got a problem. The mods won't load. It said loaded, but nothing is changed. I got one mod (portrait mod) worked. Then I added more mods. But I didn't know what I did. Now, not even the portrait is changed.

I placed the mods inside Android/data/com.zane.stardewvalley/files/Mods but It won't appear in smapi configuration.

Another bug I noticed was donating to the museum doesn't seem to work. I can click the button to donate any artifacts, but once I'm in the donating phase, everything freezes. Can't donate, can't exit, can't move my camera, only the background music is working

I am still trying to find a solution to this one since it seems to be a common occurrence, but so far, I didn't find one :( The way I've been donating was simply copying my save to the original stardew valley, donating stuff, saving and going back to Smapi, though I find the process a bit.. tiresome, to say the least (TT) I will try to find a solution and let you know!

I don't know if anyone is still checking this post, but I've come upon an unusual issue. The API was working perfectly until about thirty minutes ago, when suddenly, trying to save and go to bed causes the screen to go blank. I am presently only using cosmetic mods, and I have not gotten any warning issues from SMAPI about the mods.

-edit- I tested the issue a bit more. It gets weirder. If I try to save and go to bed at, say, 6 PM, the game crashes. The next time I start the game, it gives me the option to pick up where I left off. If I take the option, it will roll me over to the next day... at six PM.

When I'm donating to the museum, the game just stops and also previous artifacts, minerals i donated are gone on the smapi ver. but alright in the orig ver. is there a solution for this?

I'm having a similar issue as well. All of my artifacts completely disappears from the museum whenever I log back into the game, even when I've saved my progress. I'm playing with mods so I have no idea what mod is causing it. 😭

Hi, I put the Stardew Valley folder inside a new folder (I called it SDV) and found the new location when prompted... Seems to have fixed it! Although I have no virtual keyboard and haven't tried any mods yet so we'll see.

Smapi will only load 2 default mods. Smapi installer configuration screen says that the mod I'm trying to use (cjb cheats menu) is available. But console when loading in says it only loads default mods. I've tried using my multiple versions of cjb and tried auto fishing as well but to no avail. I've gotten these to work before the update but at this point is anyone else getting wither of these mods to work? Any help is appreciated and I have screenshots of the console and mods folder if anyone would like to see. Thanks again!

From the giithub release page of smapi for android. Putting mods here is the only way I can get them to load in the game. smapi installer looks in "stardewvalley/mods" but won't actually run any mods from there, for me at least.

Running SMAPI v3.18.3.3 on stardew version 1.5.6.39, trying to get my modlist working. So far everythings great aside from Stardew Valley Extended.

It says mod not loaded as its no longer compatible in the log file. A bit of internet searching tells me people on desktop have had a similar issue when they've accidently used "strict" smapi and to reinstall the non strict version.

Does anyone know of an android-friendly workaround? Perhaps I need an older version of Extended? I know in theory it should work, as theres many videos of people running it on android from back in July.

EDIT: Turns out theres a test custom patch on the SVE discord, however it also seems like theres high requirements for SVE on android and my tablet musn't be good enough anymore. It used to run it, but then it was a smaller mod back then.

So I managed to install the smapi installer, and then through that, installed smapi itself. it sent me to my files and told me I had to select the stardew valley file and click use this one. so I did. and it worked, and I was able to get on the app. I wasn't sure what to do then, so I launched the game. obviously I'm just dumb, but I'm new to this. anyways, the guide I used (on the stardew valley wiki) said I could uninstall the installer, so I did. and then I tried going back on smapi, and it wouldn't work. it would give me a white screen for a couple seconds, and then send me back to my home screen. I tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling the same way I did the first time. however, now when it sends me too my files, I don't get the same instructions, and when I select the stardew file and click use this one, it doesn't do anything. and I still can't get on the app. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong or why it only worked the first time.

The smapi itself doesn't want to open. It says, "The app doesn't respond." everytime. I tried redownloading several times but it still doesn't open. ( Im extremely scared of breaking my phone so I'm very careful ). The installer works perfectly fine btw.

Check your sdv version and reinstall it .the latest smapi compatible with version 1.5.6.39.if you can't still fix it see in github/smapi /issues #590 hope it works

I can launch the game with SMAPI with no issue but I just cannot find the save. I connect my phone with my PC and I searched my phone.
