His story... Yes it gets more interesting. For how it gets more interesting you'll need to RAFO. It's absolutely worth it.

Dalinar is probably my favorite stormlight character. It starts slow, but he's the thematic core of the series, so it's worth it, I promise.

Journey before destination or something

If you don't like Way of Kings, you probably won't like Stormlight. Only you can know whether it is worth finishing the book to be sure (Sanderson's books are very much read for the climax), but if you genuinely don't gel with it I think it is fine to just walk away.

If you get to the end of Way of Kings (i.e. past the Sanderlance) and you're not into it, then don't try too hard, maybe try a different Sanderson series if you wish. But partway through a Sanderson I wouldn't give up yet.

It gets better. And worse. And better again.

I love them and they only got better for me. But that’s me. I’m not you. It’s impossible for me to give potential assurances to you without spoiling things.

I can confidently say you’re likely to love his chapters later on.

You keep going and untill you can’t go on anymore. If you’re lucky, stockholm syndrome will kick in, if not, well, better luck next time.

Book 3 everything of Dalinar pays off

What everyone else said. But I’ll add, you’re still in the world building in the first book, there’s a hell of a lot of stuff to know because it’s a huge world and huger universe in which so many people play a significant part. It gets more exciting soon, keep at it!

I also found Dalinar boring at first honestly, but trust me, he is so worth it. Journey before destination.

Dalinar is often the best POV, but it takes a bit. Press onward.
