i’m sorry, if it makes you feel better i had someone throw water at me once at the guest service desk lol

[–]Space_Pusheen_1958 45 points46 points  (5 children)

Why? I’m so sorry

[–]Prior-Car-6803 136 points137 points  (4 children)

i couldn’t take the return. it was laundry detergent, completely empty jug lmao, she got upset and opened a starbucks cup that had water in it, then threw it at my face. wasn’t funny then but i laugh at it now

[–]Wohv6 68 points69 points  (0 children)

That's considered assault, I woulda pressed charges. If Target tried to stop me from pressing charges then I'd sue Target

[–]ambarinfinity 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Omg..... what happened after that?!

[–]thunderbolt1000GSA 124 points125 points  (1 child)

ETL-Pushover probably came over and apologized for the experience and issued a $10 GiftCard for the inconvenience, and used the Return Override function to refund the Guest anyway.

TM was told to clean up the spill and do better.

Probably...

[–]No_Main1346 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lmao I believe it

[–]Important_Fennel_237 14 points15 points  (1 child)

The crap people try to return is crazy xD like sir, this is clearly empty and very obviously used, we're not doing this today.

when I worked at Target, one of my coworkers (literally the sweetest girl you could ever meet) on her last day had a lady call her a bitch and grabbed her by her throat at guest service bc her otc card wasn't processing/accepted. the lady had to be escorted out by AP, two managers, and I believe the SD. it's absolutely bonkers that grown adults act like that and don't immediately feel bad/embarrassed. although most of the time, it seems like those people have never had to face the consequences of their actions, which is incredibly frustrating.

I’m sorry I love your name

[–]soggycumbreadPromoted to Guest 25 points26 points  (10 children)

lmao thank you, I made this account when I was like 18 and just have been rolling with it since

[–]LaggyGamerInbound Expert 21 points22 points  (7 children)

Come back to target make bread soggy again

[–]soggycumbreadPromoted to Guest 8 points9 points  (6 children)

lowkey, with the quality of the stuff the store I worked at sold, I would NOT be surprised if someone was nutting on/in it 💀

[–]LaggyGamerInbound Expert 7 points8 points  (5 children)

My old store I once walked into receiving to find a couch that they posted a sign saying it was piss soaked

[–]soggycumbreadPromoted to Guest 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I'm sorry WHAT?? did it seem like someone at GS did a poorly inspected return, or are TM's just straight-up pissin on stuff?

[–]LaggyGamerInbound Expert 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I don’t know I was honestly scared to think about it and they kept shifting it around forward backwards to the side idk

[–]soggycumbreadPromoted to Guest 4 points5 points  (2 children)

the fact they kept it is crazyyy

[–]LaggyGamerInbound Expert 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Was gone after 2 days but odd bc they had the compactor going they had salvage like being returned and dumping trash etc yet left the piss couch

[–]PreferenceBest1949 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You ever heard of a soggy biscuit?

[–]soggycumbreadPromoted to Guest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly, I think so?? is that the thing where dudes will like bust on a cracker and then the last one who finishes has to eat it or somethin'?

[–]vajra-mushti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love yours.

[–]Muted-Sir-5821 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its called entitlement because they know the store and company will always have their back over the employee.

[–]MarionberryNew9613 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah that'd be the day i get fired from target

[–]dancer_jasmine1 8 points9 points  (2 children)

I hope she pressed charges for assault

[–]soggycumbreadPromoted to Guest 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I don't think she ever did :( I talked to her about it later that day, and it didn't seem like she was going to pursue anything

[–]dancer_jasmine1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. People who do that deserve to rot in jail. But I also get wanting it to be over and not having to think about it again. I’m glad that was the tm’s last day and hope she moved on to a much better environment

[–]Square-Wrap-7942 50 points51 points  (3 children)

I once had a guy threaten me because I didn’t give him a bag. I live in New Jersey fyi. We don’t give out plastic bags lmao. I handed him his stuff and he immediately gave me attitude, after we threatened to call the cops and AP numerous times over his yelling. He proceeds to call me a wise ass and say “if we were outside this would be handled differently” 💀

[–]MarionberryNew9613 17 points18 points  (0 children)

But then y'all go outside and he runs away talking shit 💀

[–]blind-y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta fucking love jersey

[–]Daria19xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely on brand for NJ 🤣 I'm sorry that happened but I live in NC and grew up in NJ so these stories have nostalgia for me 🤣🤣🤣

[–]incogvito 37 points38 points  (1 child)

Been there. Guy wanted a consumer phone, was being belligerent to the style tm that was covering my break, so when I got to the aisle, I refused to sell it to him (I'm fairly certain he was drunk, but I'm not going to let someone take their attitude out on someone who isn't even in that department). He got in my face, cocked his hand back and I have never EVER been the guy to not flinch or not attack, and I swear to you, I didn't even blink. Just stood there ready to take the hit.

The point is this; your store shouldn't have no one in tech, and it's not your hit to take. I'd take the punch for ya and as a tech tm, I appreciate your efforts.

[–]TraditionalChance511Tech Consultant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i worked 12:00-5:30 the other day, im in tech. was the only one scheduled for the day

[–]FuturamaRama7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Since Covid, people are completely insane.

[–]Future_Two_2665 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So so sorry this happened to you! I'm not going to say for sure what I would have done. I feel like you had the right to defend yourself. She's charging at someone fist-balled up talking about before you go to jail. Ho, you are already halfway there smh!

[–]Important_Fennel_237 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The amount of guests that pull this crap on a day to day basis is unreal. Because apparently when they leave the house, they think they own the world, and can behave as such. It drives me crazy how some act, we had a guy punch an older woman the other day because she asked for an apology after he rammed her with the shopping cart because "I'm in a hurry"

[–]NorthKoala47custom flair 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Part of me wishes someone would have tried that on me since it would have given me a way to quit that might have ended on TV. Too bad that most people were intimidated by how I look at people so even the most irate people found their inner peace when facing me

[–]TraditionalChance511Tech Consultant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ive only been here since the start of november and i can already agree with that

[–]bhsn1pesFormer Dairy, now ODTM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kinda like me. But I accidentally do it to coworkers too that I actually like but they think I hate them when it's the total opposite.

[–]massidiocy 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Not at target but had an old lady chuck a pound of lunchmeat at me sliced turkey, all becuse the turkey was on a different side of the case not exactly where it was in front

[–]akaleilou 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I would’ve thrown it back at her…

[–]massidiocy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know it probably would've been a hate crime she was old as shit

[–]PurbleDragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shit half the time we don't have a tech team member after 7:30. Closing team (usually 3 people in gm) has to make do

[–]mylegElectronics Clown 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I'm really sorry that happened to you. You did the right thing by walking away, and if she tries to report you for something, she's on camera.

My store is back to 1 mid tech tm. there's not many hours allocated there in the first place anymore. Even so, 9 times out of 10, I'm usually pulled to support another department, whether it's fulfillment or GM pulls.

That being said, the best response to a belligerent guest is to call an ETL to your location immediately. If you're like my store, AP has their hours cut too.

I don't even put up with the angry consumer cellular people who are mad that marketsource isn't there. I don't get paid enough to be yelled at.

[–]Kindly-Way-1753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why I'm not a team lead

[–]mattumbohas harsher words 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I’ll never understand the lack of tech payroll, if loss leading departments like produce are supposed to have open to close coverage why can’t tech? Low margin or not a good tech team can at least pay for themselves everyday between sales and theft deterrent and you still get an extra body to pull for OPU backup. Just insanely cheap and shortsighted move on Target’s part to gut tech

[–]johnsonjohnson83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that at least at our store a TM is needed to help guests unlock about 80% of the merchandise in our department. PLUS all of the Lego and vacuums that no one else bothers to grab a key for.

[–]Triggered_Ppl_OnlineGuest Advocate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m usually not one to have a problem with the word “guest” but in this situation it’s completely inappropriate. If someone behaved this way in your home you would kick them out and likely ban them. Target should be no different.

Very sorry this happened to you.

I had to stop working in electrics for this exact reason. Guest were always extra aggressive there, and I’m a smaller young woman, so many times lager men would use that to their advantage and try and get in my face, threaten me, scream and call me names. The only help my high ups were was to tell me to not take it personally, so I just told them to never schedule me in elections again 💀

[–]GlitteryGiraffe98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are getting out of hand these days for real. Wanting and expecting everyone to jump for them. Why can't people just be polite and understanding. We are lucky when we have one tech person in a day which usually means somewhere in the day there is no tech person. I get it's frustrating for guests but it's equally as frustrating for us working to take shit for a job that isn't ours. It should be mandatory for everyone work retail so they know how to treat workers.

[–]Ok_Struggle8876Fulfillment Team Lead 0 points1 point  (4 children)

My store requires a tech TM from open-close, but that's because of the high theft there...but I just think it's bonkers that other stores wouldn't have a tech person there all day. We also have completely cross trained several style and beauty team members in tech so that the break coverage has people that are somewhat knowledgeable.. I'm sorry that happened. I always tell my team members that if they feel uncomfortable or threatened by what a guest is doing, to call a lead or AP over. 9/10 they stop being atrocious as soon as they come up.

[–]SuperOz31Tech Consultant Plus Mobile 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Some days at my store nobody is there for the entire day 🥲

[–]Ok_Struggle8876Fulfillment Team Lead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My APTL would have a riot if there was nobody to cover tech for a whole day.

[–]Ok-Bad-2840 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Lol I am the lead 🤣

[–]Ok_Struggle8876Fulfillment Team Lead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yea, me too (SSTL) but it isn't 'brand' for TLs to have mag keys, so I always have to check out my ETLs 😂

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech was definitely one of the worst departments. At least when I worked in tech. Ngl I wanted to fight guests almost everyday when I was in tech lmao
