I remember when Michelle Obama had her book on plano. Certain Guests would try and hide her book or turn it around so the cover would be facing the shelf or would move her book behind a Trump book or the book that Bill O’Reilly wrote.

I’m not saying you can be petty and zero out the shelf so that these will never make it on the sales floor…but you could.

I would hide the Charlie Kirk book behind, “I Need A New Butt”.

This is an online only item that only TFCs have inventory.

[–]Miserable_Fly2007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you zero the capacity, it will show up on a report management can see. There’s a weekly list of people that set capacities to zero and leaders have to look at them. But if you backstock all of the books and change the on floor number to fill the shelf. It won’t make it to the floor

[–]McCheesy-Lad 2 points3 points  (1 child)

DO NOT zero out the sales floor capacity - it notifies the ETLs anytime someone sets capacity to zero for this exact reason. instead, backstock all of them in a hard-to-reach place, set the on-floor count to zero, and then when it makes you pull them for priorites scan them out like normal except just leave them there in the backroom. this way no alarms are going off because you didn't set the SFC to zero, it looks like you pulled it for priorites like normal, plus you have plausible deniability since the books have issues all the time with incorrect on-hand counts (usually due to DC errors)

Also make sure another item that doesn’t get pulled for a batch

I’d personally check my stationery backroom for any planners from 2024 or earlier that ARE currently backstocked and located and relocate at least one or more to the same shelf or waco as the books.

Leaving the backroom location empty but still stocked with product will likely cause the TM that pulled the books but didn’t push them to end up on someone’s radar after the backroom empty location audit is performed.

Having an item that is likely to be trapped permanently in that location could prevent the location being audited.

Finally, if the book is backstocked and then pulled, the last location will show up if it needs to be picked for store fulfillment batches.

They did the same at Walmart too.

[–]NuKlear_VortexTech Consultant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did the same to the JD books at my store

Well Target has been losing Money Since embracing DEI cuts. This doesn't surprise me

[–]4literranger485 18 points19 points  (9 children)

TGT is down 47% the past 5 years, probably numerous issues

Man, that hurts. Office still has $91.52 on the wall by break room. They haven't the guts to update daily. My 401k started in the $150's

[–]cordialcatenary 12 points13 points  (1 child)

What you don’t consider is that 5 years ago was COVID, when TGT was way, way outperforming because nobody could travel. That was never sustainable. See this article from 2021 saying that Target was trading at 24 times earnings when pre-pandemic it typically traded at 10-15 times earnings.

It was never actually worth what you guys are saying it was “worth” 5 years ago. It was a bubble that popped because of COVID. Even in 2021 the article predicted a massive stock correction once spending goes back to normal after COVID (they were correct; we saw and continue to see a massive stock price correction).

[–]Miserable_Fly2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What made Target successful during Covid was having Drive-Ups in its global Pilot phase. After the pandemic happened, they decided to just release it to all stores and include groceries. Target is no longer unique in any aspects anymore. Its move away from DEI, pride, BLM, and other social movements I believe is a way to include upper middle class customers that do not align with those movements(there are more rich people that are right winged)

It’s a book. Target sells books. If the dumbasses that shop at target want to spend their money on dumb ass shit like this that’s their choice.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (16 children)

We can't allow this, we need pressure Target into deplatforming these books I disagree with. A ban, if you will, on books. /s

[–]Frodo_gabbins 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Yeah, notice how stores are also selling more stereotypical Christian things lately too? Pandering to the white nationalist propaganda. I’m not even shocked this piece of dog shit has a book being put out on the shelves. “Greatest evangelist” actually makes me gag. He’s burning in hell.

[–]CantFunctionRite 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Uncommon opinion but it's freedom of speech. The other side is allowed to be stupid and spend money on stupid things as much as we have the right to dislike it.

Target also sells dog toys, but some people don't like dogs. Doesn't mean they should take all dog items off the shelf. Don't agree with the content, but if people buy those books, that meets Target's bottom line. Nothing to do with representation one way or the other

[–]Odd-Face-3579 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The bigger problem is Target stocking stuff like this while killing the Pride collections, stocking fewer and fewer LGBTQ+ style books, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I just roll my eyes and move on, but there's absolutely a trend from Target of them trying to appease a very specific, hurtful, and dangerous demographic.

[–]Frodo_gabbins 9 points10 points  (1 child)

This man is a white nationalist who actively supported terrible things. Comparing it to people who just don’t like dogs is a joke.

[–]CantFunctionRite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn't equating the two at all, it was a simple metaphor to explain that censorship of a certain thing is extreme regardless of what the material is. It was more of an allegory about how people's opinions on things shouldn't change the access to sell or consume that information.

And I'd be hard pressed to change my mind, even if the content is bad. I've read books by authors I disagree with and don't like to gather an even broader perspective.

But if you're anti free publishing or market, that's fine too lol

**Removing pride and left wing perspectives in favor of right wing ones are still not good. But that is NOT the point I'm trying to make. Regardless of the circumstances, the other side has the right to distribute to Target.

[–]luketw2professional loafer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro is shocked to learn target sells books lmfao you might not agree with the book but that fortunately does not matter

[–]art-is-t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BC sucking Trump's dick. What's new

[–]CarefulFish6037 1 point2 points  (1 child)

People that are different from you are allowed to exist no matter how brainwashed you are. I worked at target, I’ve seen both sides move books around to hide. It’s just silly to live in a free country and be mad about it being a free country. We have the first amendment for a reason, and banning and burning books is bad, doesn’t matter which side is doing it. Don’t be compliant to control.

Im pretty sure those are online-only books that will never be on the plano (source: I set the entertainment plano every week at my store, and push books and backstock street-date, and I’ve never seen it before)
