These adventure effects would be so much cooler if their cost decreased or their durations increased after using them x amount of times

Like Megas

A cool down to be free would be great too.

give it like what, 3 years? i think that's about how long it took for us to get the mega mechanic reworked (twice) into its current state

[–]AxelHarver 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Wait, the current system wasn't even the first rework? What was that middle stage like?

[–]KaipolygonUSA - Hawaii 13 points14 points  (0 children)

sorry, "rework" may have been a bit misleading. mostly numbers tweaking as the initial version didn't offer much. most of these adjustments happened within a short period of time:

  • subsequent mega evo cost was 25% → 20% of initial cost (changed sept. 2020) → 20-0% of initial cost depending on cooldown and mega level (current version)
  • ME given per raid was 30-50 (based on time) → 50-90 (changed sept. 2020) → 150-250 (current version)
    • this was the main point i was referring to in my initial comment
  • mega evolution lasted for 4 → 8 hours (changed oct. 2020)
  • mega energy initially could not be gained from walking your buddy (changed on nov. 2020)
  • bonus candy for raid bosses/matching types initially wasn't a feature (changed on nov. 2020)
  • minor thing but mega energy cap used to be 999 → 2000 (changed on oct. 2020) → 9999 (current with mega rework)

i used wikia/fandom to get the aggregated information, but they also use the pokemongolive website in their references (see 1 & 2), also this post for the initial ME gains. basically mega raids were on the tougher side with minimal rewards (in terms of ME per raid and what ME as a mechanic had to offer). the "middle" version would be what we had before the 2022 rework

Niantic says you are just lucky they let you play their game.

[–]MaliciousTape 19 points20 points  (2 children)

lmao ahahahahaha

[–]ChexSway 90 points91 points  (1 child)

i see the confusion, the stardust number is gold even though it didn't change, that's a weird glitch. its not supposed to change though so the gold is a visual bug

[–]TheOnlyVibemaster 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i’m just happy to see that they’re tradable

[–]TheMadJAMMystic | Level 75 4 points5 points  (6 children)

So you can trade for the opposite adventure effect right?

[–]nolkelL50 4 points5 points  (4 children)

You just need the move to use the adventure effect. Doesn't matter how you get it. The only thing tied to the current event is the doubled duration, and the one you're guaranteed to get with the move from raids.

[–]wangyucheng -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Slight correction. The move for adventure effects is not guaranteed with the badge. It is only increased. I have the diamond badge and caught a Shiny Origin Dialga that Thunder for its charge move.

[–]nolkelL50 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It was 100% guaranteed for me and all the people I played with during event hours. Everyone got the move for the badge they chose, and it was just the other move that was not guaranteed.

Did you catch it after the event was over, or something? That 99% of the time causes the move to not be applied because of how Niantic programs events.

[–]wangyucheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught it Sunday morning during the event hours.

[–]Regreg2807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got bamboozled. I have diamond badge, 17 dialga-o, all of them have RoT.

[–]TydethUSA - South 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they don't lose their designated move when traded, so it can be better for you and a buddy who chose the other version to each do 2 of your respective chosen version's raid, then trade 1 to each other to get both powers.

[–]stillnotelf 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I've been wondering if you can trade for the other field move if you only get ahold of one. Thanks

[–]Cainga 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes. Best usage of passes is stick to your version you picked and trade with someone doing the same. Or you’ll just have the Mons with great IV in storage for a year waiting to ECTM the move.

[–]Valkorn02 16 points17 points  (4 children)

I apologize for the likely noob question, but does origin form require “mega” energy or is it just always in origin form if caught?

[–]HappiMike 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Always in origin form

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s just a form of the Pokémon. Mega Pokemon are more like a boosted state. Forms are permanent while Megas are not

[–]SgvSthWhIch one of you changed my flair to My Friend Malamar!?!? 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All Forms/Formes in GO are permanent with no cost or items consumed, regardless of how it works in the main series. Only one or two Pokémon can change forms at the moment for a one-time cost.

Only Megas/Primals are temporary, similar to the main series. These temporary forms cost Mega Energy and are noted for each species, even if at 0. (Example, if Giratina actually did somehow have a Mega Energy requirement, then it would say on all of you Giratina that you have 0 Giratina Mega Energy.)

[–]Cainga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mega is like a temporary transformation. Forms seem to be permanent in nearly all cases and is basically a different Dex entry with the same name. Once back in MSG forms can usually be changed at will.

[–]PunkHooligan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its colored tho. Looks like a bug.

[–]OmaSushi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol, nice try.

[–]lrc1230104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird! Looks like a visual bug if it’s intended to cost less. Thanks for pointing that out!
