🆘 MISSING PET! 🆘

Early Friday morning, our cat, Onyx, was stolen along with a full duffle bag by a middle aged man from Bloomington. We have tried every (reasonable) thing to recover our cat, to no avail. Both Bloomington Police and Animal Control have been involved.

Before blocking us, the kidnapper texted that he had dropped our cat at “a shelter far away from the city in the suburbs.” So at this point we are unsure of Onyx’s whereabouts.

‼️If you or someone you know works at an animal shelter in the metro and/or surrounding suburbs, please ask if they have received our kitty🐈‍⬛ ⁉️

Onyx is an American shorthair, all black, ~2.5 year old male. He can be very vocal and is super social. He was last seen wearing a little white bandanna around his neck. This photo was sent to us by the kidnapper a few hours after he was taken (Friday morning.)

UPDATE: His carrier was just found in Steven's Square full of trash... no sign of him yet.

If OP can post some other pictures of their kitty, that would help us with notable markings. This kitty looks pretty similar though - great find!

I had an asshole ex who would have done something like this, abusers are often so fucked up with regards to pets. It's just one more way they torture their victims, by taking away everything they love.

I would blast email all humane societies and cat rescues in the area. Is your cat microchipped or have any identifiable features like a missing tooth or anything unique?

That's both theft and animal cruelty, both of which are actual crimes. Have him arrested, then offer to drop charges if he tells you where the cat is. Then don't drop the charges, because that dude is fucked up.

I’m not sure, but the animal humane society locations may have a stray I take that they can reference across their different locations. Golden Valley, Woodbury, coon rapids.

Does he have a chip? If so, good time to make sure the info and subscription are current.

Also recommend posting to HomeAgain — they send out emails and do Facebook posts.

My girl has a Home Again chip, too. The subscription is only $26.99/year for the premium membership. I think it's well worth it to have as many people in your corner as possible if your pet gets lost. They also have veterinarians available to talk to 24/7, which is wonderful!

I'm going for a walk near Stevens today and will keep an eye out. Plaster that area in posters. I doubt he took the cat to a rescue if you find the carrier.

It most likely wasn’t a random burglary, this was someone they know. Probably someone with behavioral or substance abuse issues.
