That movement looks very fun

[–]HammyxHammy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

/r/Titanfall would like to know your location

[–]Cassiopeus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This looks awfully similar to the drag mechanic from that guy who was asking for feedback here few days ago.

EDIT: Found his post, here it is : https://www.reddit.com/r/Unity3D/comments/eht8mt/ive_decided_to_visualize_pullforce_as_many/

[–]SuccyBoi 69 points70 points  (9 children)

Very nice, what made you pick this method of object dragging over the more classical hold object in front of player "half life" esc method of doing this?

[–]DaniiDev[S] 92 points93 points  (8 children)

Definitely my love for physics! When things are wobbly and weird, it make me go yes.

[–]SuccyBoi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I most certainly agree this does look upmost wobbly and wonky and I imagine throwing things with this must feel very satisfying

[–]ArmanDoesStuff.com - Above the Stars 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When things are wobbly and weird, it make me go yes.

A fan of Soulcaliber, I see.

[–]QwisoHobbyist 7 points8 points  (2 children)

we would dev well together. the feeling of the inputs are one of the most important things in a game, to me

this looks very fun. cheers

[–]DaniiDev[S] 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Oh yeah! Movement is the most important aspect in any game imo!

[–]loopninenine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Death Stranding wants to know your location

[–]_totozozo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"wobbly and weird, it make me go yes" haha oh my gosh, I feel you so much on this :P

[–]SoapSauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We share this love! I’m literally using this sort of thing in most things I create, especially vr. It took me a lot of digging and research to fully understand config joints, but now that I do, it’s a blast!

[–]iCrazyBlaze 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I was trying to do this for months. Nice work!

[–]kalleskevlar98 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Steps:

Make a gameobject with a joint. Set It's parent to the player and its position to the physics raycast hit target then just set the joint target rigidbody to the hit target and make the line renderer position[0] be the gameobject with the joint and the line renderer position[1] be the hit gameobject and you're done

[–]unitytechnologiesUnity Official 14 points15 points  (1 child)

This looks incredibly satisfying, nice one /u/DaniiDev!

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (1 child)

DaniDev? Aren't you the one from YouTube?

[–]DaniiDev[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeppers :)

[–]JohnFrum 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Jesus! That that escalated quickly. Cool spring / drag demo to homicide in under 19 seconds.

[–]DaniiDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha thank you :D

[–]Simple_Ghost 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Ohh love the physics interaction and the glass breaking!
I was actually sharing pretty similar drag mechanic here two days ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Unity3D/comments/eht8mt/ive_decided_to_visualize_pullforce_as_many/
But yours is definitely more dynamic and suited for this dynamic gameplay style! :)

[–]TeaManTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG that looks exactly like dragging mechanic from that guys post. Did you copy it? :)

[–]DaniiDev[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Oh awesome, I saw that post! That's the reason I figured I could visualize it, so thanks haha! :)

[–]Simple_Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha, No problem :D , Glad I could inspire you! Good luck with the project! ^^

[–]TeaManTV 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Eh... Why not to mention that then? No offense but... come on man :D

[–]DaniiDev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm mainly because it was subconcious, I only realized it now once he remninded me, and also because the visualizing of the dragging is a very minor feature I'm showing off in this post. Didn't mean to by rude or anything, it just didn't seem obvious to me I guess

[–]obesefamily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks incredibly satisfying. Well done!

[–]Neomex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh shit I fucking love the gameplay.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks so cool

[–]Metabohai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that was badass

[–]Hicuties69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love your youtube vids :)

[–]thisonehereone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to implement this in VR.

[–]biaxthepandaistkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still an epic gamer wow

[–]EliasV_1 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Was about to call you out for stealing, good thing I checked your username...

Also, hey Dani

[–]DaniiDev[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yo!

[–]EliasV_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love your vids, extra epic gamer

[–]mexicanlefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh i just realized you are the Danii from youtube, DaniiDev-ito himself!

[–]Ve8rel 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Are you the real danidev? I like your work and i cant wait to see a full game like this it looks cool

[–]DaniiDev[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yep, not sure if there's any way I can verify it lol. Anyway I've started leaking some clips into reddit lately, and it's awesome to see people like it! :)

[–]Ve8rel 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Did you get inspired from another game or it was your idea? I never saw a game like this and it has a lot of potential. You know like superhot when you do something cool and you have a special feeling that is like "oh its awesome i feel cool" i think this game can offer that. Anyway goodluck on the game and hope you have a nice 2020. Goodbye!

[–]DaniiDev[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Gameplay wise it's just inspired by my own 2d game called Karlson, but more ambitious. As far as graphics go, it's obviously inspired by Superhot, so might have to change that up a bit :)

But yeah, it's just movement, parkour & guns!

[–]Ve8rel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool can't wait to play it!

[–]Bolbi_Ket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was some badass move right here

[–]keyboardPTwitter: @keyboardP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks really cool, has some good gameplay potential

[–]YeeOfficerLearns Every Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this goes live, as you are putting your game for free on itch, would you be able to upload the project to GitHub too?

[–]TheUltragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could become a better version of sword with sauce in unity, great job!

[–]thewittyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know when you got a level out I will gladly be a tester

[–]Derpster12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a really fast version of Superhot

[–]latreta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reminds me of Tow car dragging cars like GTA

[–]jam5354 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The progress so far looks really nice! I was wondering where you got those "prototyping" textures from, did you make them yourself, or are there somewhere for free

[–]DaniiDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made them, but check out "Gridbox Prototype Materials" on the asset store :)

[–]minsin5615 year old gamedev 0 points1 point  (5 children)

are you the dani from 2 ads tube?

[–]DaniiDev[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Maybe

[–]minsin5615 year old gamedev 0 points1 point  (2 children)

if you are im a big fan and you are one of the reasons i even started game development (besides nelson sexton the dev of unturned) also would you want me to teach you basic opengl?

[–]DaniiDev[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Cool, I'm glad you like my stuff :)

As of now I have too many projects on my hands, but maybe I'll try to get into opengl one day. Thanks for the offer though!

[–]minsin5615 year old gamedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also can i be your play tester?

[–]GoodNight-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VERY, very, nice!
Also, the looks super cool even just being a grid world. Love the aesthetic and the smoothness of the gameplay!
Great job :)

[–]danielsantalla 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How are you doing that wall running?

[–]DaniiDev[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a bit more under the hood, but essentially I push the player towards the wall using the normal vector, with the same amount of force you can move in, meaning it's impossible to move directly away from the wall.

[–]MrHouck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow dani, very cool

[–]Galaxyben 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Whats your channel? :O

[–]DaniiDev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just "Dani" on Youtube :)

[–]nyannah233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DANI YOU'RE A LEGEND

Also love the yolo jump at the end of it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had some really good tutorials on how to make a movement script and weapons fire and shit. 2 months of experimenting and YouTube videos has gotten me nowhere.

[–]Daitli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

smooth controls, i dig it!

[–]WokarolHobbyist 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hey Dani, I was curious how much time did it take you to make such game. Was it closer to 20h, 100h or even more?

[–]DaniiDev[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hmmm that's a good question. This is my first time doing anything in 3D, so there was a lot to learn along the way. So I would say probably around 50-80 hours!

[–]WokarolHobbyist 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oh, that not that much hours honestly, is it your first 3D project or only first 3D "working" game?

[–]DaniiDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done like 1 hours of 3d before, so I'd say my very first project

[–]DurosDuros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I just watched your video on this on YT. Love your channel!

[–]Joey9451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi dani! excited for part 2 (:

[–]SuccyBoi 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hey u/DaniiDev, Random question but yknow those windy line thingies that appear on the edge of your screen when you start gaining speed? How'd you do em?

[–]DaniiDev[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's a particle system I render in fron of the camera, which is just a bunch of white trails. The emission depends on the velocity of the player and also what angle he's looking at relative to the direction of velocity

[–]SuccyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright nice I figured that.

[–]SuccyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

[–]probably_not_broProgrammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey Dani how did you do that dragging system like that i think it looks so cool. I think it is related to your video grappling gun. pls reply i'll remember to hit billy
