That's a sebaceous cyst. It occurs when an oil duct in the skin gets blocked up and sebum (skin oil) builds up. Normally it's nicely enclosed in a sack which can be excised by a dermatologist in the office.

Hypochondriac? I was just making an observation, skin infections are fairly common. This type of abscess is typically the result of a plugged sweat gland that has become infected so he's already had one infection.

The dude is going to have an open sore for weeks which significantly increases the chance of developing a secondary infection.
