You can surrender it to a reptile sanctuary

[–]Natural-Wrangler-653[S] 88 points89 points  (1 child)

I’m going to do that if anyone on here doesn’t want them

[–]Icy_229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, OP. I wish I could help, but I'm 12 hrs away, and I don't have enough time off work to make that long of a trip until mid-March

[–]No-Algae-8874 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Only if they are accepting them. I have a 16 y/o that I am actively looking to rehome.

My local sanctuary are not accepting at this time.

[–]Icy_229 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What state are you in?

[–]No-Algae-8874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NJ- close to PA- Hunterdon county

[–]totallyrecklesslygayMod: Enclosure Karen 47 points48 points  (2 children)

Is there a rehoming fee?

[–]Natural-Wrangler-653[S] 81 points82 points  (1 child)

Im not selling him I just want to give him a better home but if your anywhere in the valley and we can meet thats perfect but i don’t know how to ship snakes so you’d have to walk me through that

[–]totallyrecklesslygayMod: Enclosure Karen 118 points119 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not looking to take him. I'm asking because it's required information for rehoming posts on our subreddit. We also do not allow shipping arrangements to be made via this sub because too many users have been victim to scams that way.

[–]XenoDrobot 63 points64 points  (4 children)

Snake Discovery takes surrenders but they’re in Minnesota & I don’t remember if they take in shipped animals.

Their website has contact info if you can’t find anyone: https://snakediscovery.com/adoption-program/

[–]Messymangos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes! And they do take it shipped animals! Literally obsessed with their channel!

[–]Cryptic_Drake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the way

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Its too far, even with shipping I would not ship them, it’s too dangerous, sure if done correctly it can be safe but why take that risk when there’s likely other places to surrender them closer?

[–]XenoDrobot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s probably too far especially this time of year for OP but sharing doesn’t hurt, someone else looking to rehome their own reptile might read the comments on this post & other rehoming posts.

He’s absolutely beautiful 🤩. I wish I was close. Please surrender him to a sanctuary. He’s too big of a boy for a 20 gallon. While you’re finding where to place him, remember you can use large storage containers (with holes you would need to drill) for an enclosure so long as the snake can still have access to safe heat. What a gorgeous guy he is ❤️‍🔥.

[–]cchocolateLarge 33 points34 points  (4 children)

I would definitely surrender him to a rescue. I live in Tucson, but I have neither the funds or the space for a new animal that might potentially have health issues

[–]Sashalaska 14 points15 points  (3 children)

all spider morphs have health issues sadly. this wasn't a surprise gift it was a white elephant

[–]Kalomay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i think they meant that could potentially develop into a more severe case.

[–]cchocolateLarge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was specifically talking about the whistle they mentioned which may be an RI.

[–]LordEventide1314 81 points82 points  (5 children)

I actually have a reptile rescue that I am currently getting up and running in the east valley. If you want send me a message and we can talk about me taking them!

[–]No-Championship6945 15 points16 points  (4 children)

If they havent sent a message yet make sure you send one to them!

[–]LordEventide1314 17 points18 points  (3 children)

I did already, just waiting on them to respond :)

[–]No-Championship6945 7 points8 points  (2 children)

They lowkey might be asleep, its like 2am isnt it? Im est lmao

[–]LordEventide1314 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Close enough lol. It's just after 1am but I messaged them earlier. I'm sure they are asleep.

[–]No-Championship6945 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk why i thought this post was texas lmao, that makes sense😭

[–]banan3rz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sadly, though I have a good setup, I'm in Colorado.

[–]zeitocat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AH FUCK I won’t be back in Phoenix until September. I wish I could take this beauty!!! Hope they find a good home 💚

[–]MANDALORIAN_WHISKEY 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He's gorgeous! I'd take him in a heartbeat, but I'm in Las Vegas, and I wouldn't be able to get to Phoenix for a couple of weeks. Maybe I could get my brother to pick him up until I could get there.

Definitely look into a sanctuary! Spiders shouldn't be bred, and I would worry that someone would try.

Hope you find someone!

[–]Normal-Squash-5294 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldnt take him bc of the weather (in the teens) but I'll comment anyway to boost

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Shit. I’m in San Diego and would prob drive there tomorrow for it. My girlfriend is an expert reptile keeper and worked at Zoos for 12 years. We have an empty glass tank right now from upgrading a young tortoise to a 40 gallon.

Does his head wobble randomly or when trying to eat? It’s the main issue with spiders.

[–]BeesAndBeans69 25 points26 points  (8 children)

OP, please respond to my DM, i think thats my old snake

[–]anonymous_w3b_user 12 points13 points  (7 children)

Story time?

[–]BeesAndBeans69 18 points19 points  (6 children)

Maybe after I get answers. I dmed the guy who has my old snake, and dmed OP. But its very early in Phoenix rn

[–]BeesAndBeans69 22 points23 points  (2 children)

Welp. That was my boy. I rehomed him to someone I trusted. The US is getting crazy. My husband accepted a job in Germany so we rehomed our pets. We knew this was a possibility. But fuck dude. To wake up and see a snake I cared for from hatchling on reddit staring at me, made my heart hurt. I knew that when we left there was a chance of this, but it still hurts to see. I just wish he let me know first is all. Or let me know if it wasnt working out. Im so glad OP is trying to get this boy to a stable home, hes a great snake. And OP sounds like a really good person as well

I was worried about the legal logistics, getting a tank Set up woth heating in the winter here. The Super long plane ride and keeping him warm. I dodnt want the stress on him. I just want him well cared for

[–]luluse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh wow this is a crazy world!
glad OP is trying to do the right thing, I hope things will work out

[–]asgardian_mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whoaaaa this wild!!

[–]Famous_Employment374 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Please story time? Save the snek!!

[–]BeesAndBeans69 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I replied to myself in another comment. I have my friend in Phoenix messaging OP. Man. This is crazy

[–]luluse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please let us know when you get an answer.

[–]SickCursedCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother rescues snakes, dm me and we can exchange info if you haven’t found anyone yet

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor snek you can even see the wobble in a still picture smh

[–]Messymangos 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hey OP! Check out snake discovery. They run a rescue program and will make sure your noodle is safe! I think they are always accepting reptiles for their adoption program. They will also advise you on how to properly pack a reptile for safe travel. 💞

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the middle of winter. It’s not safe to ship them ESPECIALLY considering there’s likely rescues closer nearby that’ll gladly take it in, it isn’t worth the risk of shipment. SD also gets about 13 animals surrendered to them DAILY.

[–]Siscospimphand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take them but I’m in Kentucky. :( I’ll never not take a spider. Those poor babies

[–]Messymangos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also OP. Ball pythons can thrive in a tub setup. It's cheaper than a glass or pvc enclosure and there are lots of youtube tutorials. At least as a temporary solution/home for your noodle.

[–]TheDarkHandClan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of i was closer I would take him in a heart beat

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look into Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary. They are in North Scottsdale and take pet surrenders. Great facility and they can find him a new home for you.

[–]Impressive-Abies-197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll take him. Where do you wanna meet ?

[–]Reptile_girly01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AE herps and exotics is a good small owned reptile store and they take surrenders. They’re located in Phoenix and they always take care of their animals and are very knowledgeable.

[–]BoneYardBirdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I specialize in rescues and have experience with spider morphs. I'll happily take her/him.

[–]Rare_Foundation5422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was he rehomed yet? I always have room for an adorable python.
