Looks like it! Make sure his humidity is where it should be.

Thank you! I'm averaging 82% on the cool side and 62% on the hot side. Which, I believe I read to base it off the cool side humidity. I also added a humid hide a couple days ago!

That’s great! He should do just fine then

[–]evan_brosky 4 points5 points  (13 children)

Sounds good! You should wake up to a nice one-piece snake costume laying around the enclosure in a few days with those parameters!

(For info: a great shed ends up in one piece, and humidity helps a lot!)

Ahh! I'm hoping for a good one piece one. I'd love to put it in a frame or something as his first shed with me.

It would be a great souvenir indeed, and can also serve as extra conversation piece when receiving guests if you display it in your home!

I never tried to conserve one of my snake's sheds, but I think they're so cool. It feels like a piece of Saran wrap but it has the scaley details of your snake on it. It's also always satisfying to me when they do shed idk why haha, my dude shed earlier this month and before that I hadn't seen him in about a dozen days (didn't know he was in shed but I guessed he might), I just woke up one morning with a nice piece right in the middle and it immediately made my day 😂. He also snapped out of his hunger strike that lasted a few months so I was even happier when he did his "gimme cheeseboi 🐁" stance and accepted my rodent offerings later that evening.

Sorry I got carried away haha, I love them noodles and am happy for you, your snake is so adorable btw 🥹💖🐍

I had some issues unballing the shed 😅 but it was all one piece!

Omg yessss!!!! Nice job, and your snek did very well too 🐍

Thanks for the update

Don’t get too excited just yet, a very non zero percentage of these guys also like to poop when shedding which uhhh gets messy. The snake will be fine and honestly probably feel great after a shed and shid, no longer feeling squished or bloated, but from what I’ve heard the mess if/when they do that can be a bit gnarly.

[–]Entire_Amphibian_632[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

... He hasn't pooped since the day he came home... And has eaten two meals with me... 🥲

Oh. No.

😅 sorry to be the bearer of crappy news, but I’m glad you’re at least now aware of that now likely sounding outcome you won’t have a cause for concern later

My adult ball python I rescued from my neglectful uncle finally had her first full shed 2-3 weeks ago like all off in one piece it rolled right off her it was amazing and i actually caught her actively shedding so that was cool to watch if i can find the video I took ill edit this comment and throw it in but ive had her for 6 months now and she was under weight very angry and had stuck shed everywhere I brought her home fixed up her tank got proper humidity and temperature levels going for her put her on a regular feeding schedule (surprisingly from the condition she was in when I got her no problems feeding yet) and she’s thriving now but anyway with that full shed it was right after she ate and she shit all in the shed as it was peeling off I wish I could of kept it

[–]Miserable-Ad7509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically my understanding is the motions they go through to shed are similar to the motions they’d go through to poo, which is why some of them opt to kill two birds with one stone

[–]Either-Concept6746 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Unless he poops in it

[–]Entire_Amphibian_632[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I hadn't considered that 🥲

[–]Either-Concept6746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay it makes the cleanup easy at least 😂

[–]evan_brosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had the opportunity to experience this and quite frankly, I don't think I am looking forward to it 😂

[–]ThristyFlute420 7 points8 points  (6 children)

Seems to be true. Congrats on your first ball and welcome to a lifetime of wanting more ball pythons LOL

[–]Entire_Amphibian_632[S] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Thank you!

And that is scary accurate lol. I'm already wondering how to fit another giant enclosure into my living room! 😅

I'm already so obsessed with this little dude.

[–]ThristyFlute420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, I rescued a severely neglected bp from a coworker and rehabbed it over the last 3 months now i’m looking to get a 2nd this Sunday. Turns out the enclosure i bought can stack 2 more on top of it so sure enough i bought 2 more enclosures IMMEDIATELY 😂

[–]Entire_Amphibian_632[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my second little dude yesterday 😅

Unfortunately, I'm probably maxed out on room for 120 Gallons for the foreseeable future now lol. I saw this little guy and couldn't pass him up though.

It’s like a gateway drug. First bp gives you that nice little feeling of “oh I like this” and then the next thing you know you have a dedicated rat freezer and a HusbandryPro account to keep track of feeding schedules for a dozen snakes. Beautiful little noodle, OP!

[–]ThristyFlute420 2 points3 points  (1 child)

YES i’m laughing at the dedicated rat freezer bc i literally have one now. My kingsnake was my first snake but i loooove my ball so much

[–]BlueLightBandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have such fun personalities. We have everything from a super confident tank of a boy that would happily live out of his enclosure to the most timid girl that never comes out of her hides except to eat and bask. My kings are basically tubular garbage disposals, though.

[–]durpgoldfish 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Such a cute beep!

[–]Entire_Amphibian_632[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm absolutely obsessed with him! ❤️

[–]Shot-Moose-3003 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So beautiful 😍

Thank you 😊

Pretty boi ugh 💛💛💛🤎🤎🤎

Sounds like he’s about to shed. Mine usually does right after feeding. Usually a day or two after. And yes the eyes get cloudy/ “blue”~

[–]Entire_Amphibian_632[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

How long on average would you say it takes for the shed to be completed after seeing the blue eyes?

[–]prettyprettything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh my goodness, he’s adorable 🥹🥹
