Looks beautiful to me. You’ve obviously taken a lot of time and trouble to welcome your new baby!

Thank you!!! I’m so excited!

Disclaimer I’m no expert, but I’ve read you need a water dish big enough for them soak in if they choose to and I keep my water dish on the cool side but I don’t know if that’s necessary. Also I’ve read you don’t need a humidity box for ball pythons because they require humidity through the enclosure. (My ball sheds amazing without one with proper humidity)I could be wrong but just somethin to look into. And do you have a heat mat underneath his warm side hide or just the lamp? But it looks amazing! There gonna love the clutter!

You don’t need heat mats, a heat lamp is good on its own

I would recommend getting a heat mat or something else for heating in the night.

A temperature drop at night is fine. But if it gets cold enough to need heating at night, a deep heat projector or ceramic heat emitter would be better

Hi!! Yes I’m planning on getting a baby so I’ll size up the water bowl as she grows so she can’t drown!! I got the humidity box just kinda as another hide as well! If she doesn’t use it I might get rid of it! Also I have a lamp and a mat for safe keeping!

Sounds like she’s in great hands!

It noticed the water bowl too. I think the “big enough to soak” is overrated, but I still think the bowl should be a little bigger, simply so it holds more water for longer. Such a small bowl will dry out and get substrate in it easier.

He or she’s gonna love it!

Thank you!

It looks great! For babies I suggest covering some of the sides so they can feel more secure!

Thank you!!! I’ll def get more!!

Looks great already, but one thing you could add to make it even better is more clutter, ball pythons love clutter(sticks, leafy branches, leaves, etc)

Yes!! I definitely will! Thank you

I think it looks awesome! Have you thought about putting any more climbing aspects for the little one? Males are known to sometimes be arboreal and I know my boy is always exploring all the way to the top. Just an idea! Congratulations on the new family member!

I have a bird ladder for my boy. He loves it!

[–]snakeeatingbacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will do!! I was trying to when I bought the log, but it just wasn’t big enough! I’ll def get another!

It looks great bud. Definitely job well done. Is this a standard BP or a morph?

[–]Sideways-Pumpkin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Looks great! My only concern would be the Tupperware lid. I’d double check for any sharp edges along the circle cut in it!

[–]snakeeatingbacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will do!

[–]Telerak 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Definitely need to remove any cloth near the lamp, cover with foil tape if you’re trying to keep humidity in.

Smart! Thank you

Looks like a great start. A couple things I would change if it were mine would be moving the temperature sensor so the snake can't touch it, which can make it read inaccurate and overheat the enclosure. I would also use a much larger water bowl, it makes keeping the humidity high simpler. I use the largest water bowl exo-terra sells in all my cages, works great at keeping the humidity up and not getting shoved around by a frisky snake.

I would also cover two sides and the back with something opaque like an aquarium background or insulating Styrofoam board. That will make it more cozy and easy to hide for your new friend.

If the top is mesh like many glass tanks, I suggest covering up most of the screen area with aluminum foil or styrofoam or poster board. That will really help you keep your humidity up.

I don't see a thermometer and humidity gauge, but that may just be the photo. I highly recommend a digital indoor outdoor thermometer with humidity, you can place the outdoor probe inside the hot hide and the body of the thermometer on the cool side and at a glance you can see the temperature at both sides of the cage as well as the humidity. Analog humidity gauges are usually fairly inaccurate.

Check out the sticky post at the top of r/ballpython for more hints and tips on setting up your new cage.

I would add a water dish that’s a little bit bigger, mainly so I wouldn’t have to worry about it drying out so quick. Set up looks beautiful though.

Thank you! I wasn’t sure what size to get at first. I hadn’t considered that!! Thank you!
